Asking daughters' swimming instructor on a date?

Hi there, I have never posted here before, but regularly read threads.

This is my question, and I'd welcome any advice!

I have been single since the father of my 2 daughters who are now 3 and 4 left us in May 2008. Since then I have never been on a date!

Recently I have been thinking about it, and quite fancy my daughters' swimming instructor! It seems I get little opportunity to meet a vast range of men! I don't know if he is single so need to establish that, I'll look for wedding ring on Tuesday.

What does anyone think about the whole scenario, if he doesn't have a wedding ring he still might not be single anyway, if he isn't or just isn't interested I will have to take my girls to their lessons every week and might feel a fool! Also I don't really know how I could find out or ask him anyway, on the pool side with loads of other parents & children?! He's a great swimming instructor and I would want to keep them in his lessons for as long as possible.

Or should I just forget the whole idea!

Any thoughts anyone please, thanks, Lucy

Yes the lesson took place, to be honest I was in a foul mood, had been really cross at the children before we went Blush and I was just wasn't in the mood! We were friendly enough with each other, we all had a chat afterwards about christmas and I failed again to say anything. However when my youngest was in the shower, I sent my eldest back to the poolside to ask if he had any children, so she did and he said no he doesn't. When we were safely in the car I asked what else he said as they had been talking longer than just the question and answer, and she said that she had forgotten!
So no further on yet really, perhaps he doesn't like me, I'm generally a bit pissed off at the moment, so lost the momentum a bit anyway. Hmm

No excuses, next time you see him, ask him out!!!!

Jellykat · 20/12/2010 19:41

Ahh Lucy,hope you're feeling perkier today!x

CheerfulV · 21/12/2010 15:06

Aww, I was hoping it went well, I was thinking of you on Sat and wondering what happened.

evolucy7 · 21/12/2010 20:28

Thanks guys...been having a rubbish time at the moment, our first winter in a house with oil heating and we bloody ran out of oil on Monday, delivery is tomorrow. So had no bloody heating for 2 days!
Got all sorts of issues with the girls and their dad, so perhaps the hassle of another bloke is not worth it! It's funny how when you are into a bit of fun etc it seems great and then when feeling a bit s**t makes me think best without any other potential hassles! Confused

Oh no Lucy..stressful!You sound knackered- Yes, i've got an oil fired 'Stanley', have to constantly remember to keep an eye on the oil level, i know now that 500 litres lasts me about 3 months.
Hope you're toasty tomorrow! and you're XP and girls get sorted..

Sounds like you need a laugh- a night out, or at the very least, coffee and a monstrous piece of cake, with a good friend is due!

You can return to the matter in hand at a later date, when you're feeling smiley again...

Hope it all gets better soon x

evolucy7 · 21/12/2010 22:50

Thanks x

Yes I bought 600 litres in August and I just happily went along and then thought oh no must need some more oil soon and lo and behold costs nearly twice as much and will have to wait weeks! Annoyed at myself for letting it happen, for god sake how stupid of course it will cost me! Will not make the same mistake again lol. Have to say though that the coal and log fire is keeping us toasty in the lounge anyway!

Yes got some visits to friends lined up this week, and then all going away with my parents after christmas so will get to relax a bit. Smile

Meant to say of course it will cost more!

No nothing to report, they had first group swimming lesson of this year on Tuesday, which is when usually just say hello, as it's so busy, that's what we did just caught each other's eye and nodded and said hello. Went to watch girls with school on Friday, when I do often talk to him, he doesn't teach them then, but is there as Manager, but the school hadn't gone swimming as the coach had a flat tyre, so I left straight away, no chance for him to appear to talk to.
I have the problem at present that girls are not now staying with their father every other weekend, that is really the only time I go out in evenings, so I wouldn't even have a babysitter! So for now I'll just carry on and slowly see if anything develops.

You could keep this thing going for years...! i guess its nice to have something to dream along about...

evolucy7 · 10/01/2011 14:07

Tbh I've lost the impetus a bit anyway, but I was asked so I thought it polite to answer Smile
Yes I think people do sometimes go on for years secretly liking someone and wondering if they may like them too, don't they? I think a couple of people posted here that that had happeneed to them or a friend and years later they were an item.

I know it's a really old thread but is anyone else wondering what happened to EVOLUCY and sexy Dave the swimming instructor. Is she still putting bricks in the childrens swimsuits? :)

sarahseashell · 04/08/2012 21:28

I've often wondered Smile
it'd be lovely if OP still around and could let us know if anything happened in the end or maybe she met someone else?

mirry2 · 04/08/2012 21:30

I've wondered as well Smile

ccgirr · 14/08/2012 16:36

And me. Wish evolution would turn up and tell us!!!!

sweetmuffins · 06/04/2015 07:55

I read this very old thread with interest. We never found out what happened in the end. Did thing turn out??? Could you let us know Evolucy?

Lucy61 · 06/04/2015 08:27

Yes, did it?

sweetmuffins · 06/04/2015 08:39

I'm in a vaguely similar situation (but married) hence searching and coming across this old thread. Would love to know what happened? It'd be great to hear that he did actually like you too and the two of you hit it off!

Newyearsunresolutions · 06/04/2015 10:17

Argh I just read to the end hoping for a happy ending. Please come back and update.

sweetmuffins · 07/04/2015 00:07

Evolucy, you there?

BertieBotts · 07/04/2015 00:13

This is ancient! I expect OP isn't even on here any more. Although I am now Shock as there is a mum on my facebook who is always lusting after a swimming instructor called Dave Grin She is married though so not the OP.

BertieBotts · 07/04/2015 00:14

Sadly I have Advanced Searched her and her posts only go up to 2011, then she disappears. Namechanged or gone. So we'll never know!

TheCowThatLaughs · 07/04/2015 00:47

I remember this thread. Time flies eh?
