Time for a new thread!!

Mellow, congratulations!

Dusty, ds2 would look so cool with a Beatles haircut

Pc, sorry you've all been ill, glad you're on the mend. Can't believe ds will be 2

Vbus, well done on getting dh into the spare room, dh refuses to move from our bed when he's ill!! Hope he's all better for your holiday, where are you going?

We're also ready for a holiday, am waiting for The Sun cheapie deals to start up again!

Am enjoying the tory-candidate-name thread.

UptoapointLordCopper · 28/04/2010 17:28

Hello all!

Hope everyone is enjoying the last day of spring/summer. Went to office, went to supermarket, exhausted now ...

Must remember to vote. Must remember not to recycle postal ballot paper.

sfxmum · 28/04/2010 17:46

just got back indoors, needed to be out as much as possible as the rest of the week looks dire

hope everyone is well

here the residents association is up in arms, meeting next week, bikes stolen (not ours) unruly kids (outside building), ridiculous charges, poor security
I now know a lot of neighbours

vbus · 28/04/2010 19:38

Hello all

Hope everyone enjoying the sun before it disappears

Tilly - nice to see you all, the DC have all grown up After you left DS1 said he liked playing with your DS1 and then asked why they didn't go the same nursery

Crazy days here, my mum did get her flight back at wkend so we had all the family round again. Went out into London for friend's b'day and met someone I hadn't seen for 15yrs she hadn't changed one bit and it was like I'd seen her yesterday

Going on a hen do this coming wkend, I'm excited but also 1st time leaving DS2

tillyfernackerpants · 28/04/2010 20:09

vbus, nice to catch up with you, thanks for tea. Ds1 said he'd missed his friend [awww] & that your pasta sauce is nicer than mine because the veggies in yours are smaller .

sfx, meant to say thanks for gig tickets, really enjoyed it . We have a neighbourhoodwatch scheme in our street, hasn't done a lot of good as sheds etc still getting broken into!

Exam went ok at the weekend, at least I think I've passed, will find out in a couple of weeks. Had to completely make up one answer as couldn't remember it, walked out, then remembered it the instant I left grrrr.

Kewcumber · 29/04/2010 09:51

Good luck with your exam results tilly.

Moved DS from Pools on park to private group lessons where we go swimming at weekend - they are much more expensive £12.50 per lesson). Max 4 in a lesson and I know th eteacher - but as it turns out only 2 in his lesson so virtually a private lesson and teacher is impressed enough with his swimming to start teaching him proper strokes and early stages of learning to dive. He loves it!

vbus · 29/04/2010 10:27

Morning

KC - that is excellent news about DS swimming! We start back today, missed last week as DS1 had a swollen eye (he got sand in it and it really puffed up)

Tilly - small veg due to the food processor We'll have to do it again another time

Sfx - what to be done about the local crimes? Good way to meet the neighbours!

sfxmum · 29/04/2010 10:38

hello all

tilly let's do it again missed gig last night due to family priorities and study commitments gutted as Fyfe did a great show, or so I hear from friends
good lick on exam
vbus I have been meeting mums now that the sun is out (sort of) they are all foreign very amusing but there seems to be a big movement to sort out stuff in the building, there is even a FB group

kewC good news on ds, and how is the focus group stuff going

yesterday went to running store to get a pressie for Dh's birthday, as usual got talking to very chatty stuff the guy was dying to tell about his marathon experience, I listened and sounded duly appreciative, he was very distracted and kept making mistakes at the till, in the end he undercharged me
£15

UptoapointLordCopper · 29/04/2010 18:54

Hello!

Quite tired today. Not in very good mood, but planning teriyaki salmon for tea. Serve on noodles or rice? I like it when these are the only decisions to make.

MUST REMEMBER TO VOTE. Voting policy #1: don't vote for candidates who don't live in the area. Voting policy #2: don't vote for candidates who don't tell us where they live. That's ruled out the BNP and the UKIP candidates. The UKIP candidate has a suspiciously European name.

vbus · 29/04/2010 19:14

Copper - you must be tired, voting not for another week

Sfx - lol at your money saving scam

Election debate should be interesting esp after GB's cock up

UptoapointLordCopper · 29/04/2010 19:31

vbus - not that tired. Postal ballot.

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/04/2010 08:17

Voted!

I reckon there should be an "over-my-dead-body" vote. Draw a skull if you definitely don't want that person to get in, or something like that ...

SushiMummy · 30/04/2010 09:17

Morning all.

Does anyone know a good plumber? We need to have our boiler fixed/replaced. TIA

Kewcumber · 30/04/2010 09:48

sorry sushi I have terrible problmes with plumbers.

At university "No candidate acceptable" once got elected to a Student union position

sfxmum · 30/04/2010 09:52

sushi we got someone from my plumber and they were quite good

and btw had long talk to a mum from your school so will email you

hello all

sfxmum · 30/04/2010 09:54

what is the twiter sign? am being wooed to join twiter from so many sides

am sure everyone wants to know what I think

SushiMummy · 30/04/2010 10:11

Double thanks, sfx!

Wish I could vote (stupid Japanese government does not allow us to become a British citizen unless we give up Japanese nationality/passport ).

sfxmum · 30/04/2010 10:14

I vote locally but will get on with naturalisation asap as otherwise will likely be shipped out

good grief he really won the debate on immigration

SushiMummy · 30/04/2010 10:21

I wouldn't mind receiving 50 grand to be shipped back to the far east. Where would DS be, somewhere in the middle of Great Britain and the Far East, I wonder? There are more important issues than immigrants, me thinks.

Kewcumber · 30/04/2010 10:25

sushi - I think you might find that is Kazakhstan - DS could join him!

I think myplumber depends on who you get. I got someone rubbish and ended up working out what the problme was myself but on th other hand I think if you ask them to quote for installing a boiler then you would probably get someone more experienced.

sfxmum · 30/04/2010 10:44

I think you are right KewC regarding plumber but they also come back for free should you call them for the same problem within a certain time frame and their rates are up front and reasonable

am sat here avoiding study and contemplating instead a long run I promised myself I would do that tomorrow afternoon and just catch up on study today

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/04/2010 10:50

Hello!

Do you think I'd get shipped out too? My country doesn't allow dual citizenship either. Same with you too sfx? It's a crying shame. One should amass as many passports (legally) as humanly possible.

Anyway who wants to ship us out? I watched a bit of the debate but it was so dull. You can't trust any figures anyone quoted, and everything else is just hot air. It's a wonder the place hasn't floated away with that amount of hot air. And that Dimbleby person is useless. Was he not supposed to moderate the debate? Or was he paid to just point out members of audience and repeat question? I'd like a job like that. How much do you reckon he was paid for it?

Kewcumber · 30/04/2010 10:56

DS hs dual citizenship until he is 18 [smug emoticon] then he has to choose.

sfxmum · 30/04/2010 11:04

I like Dimbleby he always seems vaguely amused and above all of them

now Question time was baffling just how Janet Street Porter managed to make Ed Balls sounds almost reasonable?

agree there was lots of hot air and mostly I felt like shouting give me a realistic fair plan to sort out the economy and cut the blinking deficit, tell me how you will regulate the banks and get them actually lending to small business
everyone seemed to imply that by some miracle of their divine presence in power things would just magically work out

lordcopper about dual nationality my country of birth (Cape Verde) apparently is easy on the giving away of passports and allows for dual citizenship, not sure about Portugal

sfxmum · 30/04/2010 11:06

will stop talking politics whatever mess we get into next will not be my fault
how very LibDem of me
