Time for a new thread!!

Mellow, congratulations!

Dusty, ds2 would look so cool with a Beatles haircut

Pc, sorry you've all been ill, glad you're on the mend. Can't believe ds will be 2

Vbus, well done on getting dh into the spare room, dh refuses to move from our bed when he's ill!! Hope he's all better for your holiday, where are you going?

We're also ready for a holiday, am waiting for The Sun cheapie deals to start up again!

In one obscure part in my line of work there is a thing called "simulability" - whether any random punter could have come up with an entire script of transactions without any authorised parties involved. I think the debate satisfied this property. In short, a waste of time.

SushiMummy · 30/04/2010 13:35

sfx - thanks for the email! Much appreciated. BTW, is your DD's school still looking for new head teacher? Thought they found one...

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/04/2010 13:40

Leader of the BNP on Radio 4 . Since when was he respectable? I have switched off the radio on account of having just had lunch.

sfxmum · 30/04/2010 13:51

sushi not they found one he was at the school on Wednesday, unless he changed his mind recently
re email let me know if you want specifics can put you in touch with her

lorcopper knew he was on so did not even tune in for the 1 o'clock news I can't stomach him

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/04/2010 13:56

sfx - the horror only starts at 1.30. There was a strangely interesting discussion from the Welsh assembly about how to form a coalition government. But radio off promptly at 1.30.

Off to get kids!

SushiMummy · 30/04/2010 15:17

KC - just emailed you about school.

DH just received a call from the council.

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/04/2010 20:49

Had very traumatic afternoon. Will tell later.

Am watching Glee for want of better things to do. Is it for real!? Need a drink.

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/04/2010 20:49

All is well, or at least as well as can be, before anyone panics.

sfxmum · 30/04/2010 21:39

I like Glee it is just silly fun

sfxmum · 30/04/2010 22:35

Good grief they are giving more power to Boris

tillyfernackerpants · 01/05/2010 08:59

sfx, what can Boris do now??

sushi, hope everything's ok

Going to be a tough weekend. Brother's girlfriend is moving back to Poland with their son on Sunday & my mum is devastated

OP posts:
sfxmum · 01/05/2010 09:45

tilly it was a report floating about last night saying a prospective Tory government had a paper to expand the Mayor's power. obviously trying to scare Londoners into voting for just about anybody else
re brother, are they separating? that is sad

tillyfernackerpants · 01/05/2010 13:17

They are separating, brother has been acting like a t**t so she's decided its not worth her staying anymore, wants to be back with her family & friends. Can't blame her really, she doesn't know anyone here apart from my brother & parents. She's spent the last 3 weeks at my parents because of his behaviour!

UptoapointLordCopper · 01/05/2010 18:54

Hi!

Tilly - about brother and family. Hope it would not be too traumatic.

Did a bit of weeding and now can see our herb patch. Anyone want fresh rosemary, thyme and/or bay leaves? Can post them, I suppose. But bluebells and raspberry not doing too well...

Has anyone ever seen a 6yo do sudoku? It's a very surreal experience.

sfxmum · 01/05/2010 21:45

Tilly that sounds sad and awful for everyone involved I am sorry

had a nice time at the Fair mostly watching dh turn green going up on the Ferris wheel with the children

managed to go for a nice longish run with dh this morning, the benefits of friendly neighbours

sfxmum · 01/05/2010 21:47

lordcopper Soduko seems popular in child entertainment packs in restaurants dd always asks if she can do it 'like granny' and fills in random numbers

UptoapointLordCopper · 01/05/2010 22:30

DS1 does know the rules. It's just that he can't concentrate long enough to look along a row or column. And forgets which square he's supposed to be filling in ... It makes me feel giddy just watching him do it.

sfxmum · 03/05/2010 11:09

hello all

hope everyone is well

so far nice and quiet bank holiday weekend shame about the weather
have been watching some sort of family drama unfolding on the building next door, the police are involved as usual wish it did not get to fever pitch in the middle of the night

trying to decide which chocolate cake to bake for dh's birthday on Thursday, over the last few years have been making my way through the Nigella hall of fame, might be the turn of the Guiness one

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/05/2010 16:39

Hello!

Went out for breakfast in the morning .
Spent afternoon restoring my very old shorts, since apparently shorts are back. I do like my shorts, but when is it going to be warm enough!?

sfx - have you tried the chocolate cake in that free guide thing? Here. I want to try is, but not as much as I want to try the double espresso one .... I have relatives coming to visit at the end of the month and am planning to make them eat cake.

sfxmum · 03/05/2010 16:55

the expresso one yum would like to try it, dh specifically asked for 'straight up chocolate cake no fancy business'
have a nice recipe for a chocolate fudge one we shall see

wish I could wear shorts although I am contemplating getting some but just for summer running

UptoapointLordCopper · 03/05/2010 18:42

This one tastes of just chocolate. And it's healthy too so you can pile on unhealthy stuff or eat lots of it.

Made bagel-ly thing and shortbread today. What next? In a fit of efficiency cooked some chicken for DS1's packed lunch tomorrow. About to cook a large batch of ginger-garlic-soya sauce pork. Really need a new kitchen knife ...

I can't wait for bare-legs-and-sandals weather.
Also converted long dress to short. Can't wait!!!

Not looking forward to working week.

sfxmum · 03/05/2010 21:06

lordcopper I baked that one for my aunt's birthday, she is diabetic but fancied a bit of choc cake, it did not go down well with the younger folk, think massive lard and sugar injection is the only way to go
btw I liked it, in the same way I like flourless and not too sweet cakes

SushiMummy · 04/05/2010 08:57

Morning all.

Tilly - so sorry to hear about your brother and family. I had a very similar situation - my exSIL went back to Russia with their son. What makes it hard is that we will probably never see their son as ex-SIL doesn't tell us where they live.

Well, the council (LEA) said our online acceptance/decline for DS's school had not been registered and they wanted to find out about our decision on the phone. They said they'd been calling parents as the system didn't seem to have worked in some areas.

Kewcumber · 04/05/2010 12:08

Tilly - my brother is the same has been a dreadful Dh for years and they are now separated. Luckily for us my sister in law managed to hang out until the kids were grown up though frankly in her position I wouldn't have.

sfxmum · 04/05/2010 14:45

hello

sushi take it that it is all resolved now?

here dd was awake a fair bit during the night coughing and running a fever, she also woke up at 6am and that was it, in the end she decided to go to school, they haven' called me so guess she is coping, I did talk to the teacher
now hope it will be early dinner early bed for all

am sleepy and trying to shape essay

hope everyone is well, so cold this morning
