I always forget we have the Music museum in Brentford might be worth a look,
I think we will head to science museum tomorrow, dd keeps telling me how boring it is to be by herself so open to meet ups
either at Kew of visit a museum in Town

sfxmum · 05/08/2010 15:11

vbus about MrTumble I can't praise him enough, he pitched the performances just right, we watched 2, and he was charm itself when out and about, the parents were very conscientious to keep the children away from him when he was not in character, we saw him at lunch at River Cottage cafe children got too excited to eatLook it is Justin!

also on the first day he performed outdoors, you should see the wild abandon with which the children flocked to him, something of a pied piper, once it was finished at least 5 children had been lost in the crowd, soon to be found thankfully, they had just wandered ff after him

sfxmum · 06/08/2010 08:57

definitely Kew todayHmm although dd keeps shifting between that and 2 other options, who said choice was a good thing?

UptoapointLordCopper · 06/08/2010 17:16

sfxmum · 07/08/2010 17:11

I Know I keep going on about CampB but dh posted a proper review of the event so am sharing

Hi De Hi
Fri 30 Jul ? Camp Bestival: We've been devotees of Latitude for the past three years but decided it was time for a change. Camp Bestival is absolutely brilliant for families with children. There's an amazing amount of really fun stuff to do - a skateboard rink, a rock school, a dressing-up catwalk, a fairground, a bouncy castle... There were some things for adults too but actually I was having more fun on the helter skelter.
Loved The Fall - of course! I hadn't seen them for years.Tinie Tempah was OK too. Apparently he's got so many clothes he keeps some at his aunt's house. Woo. Billy Bragg is god but the first song was too sad for my daughter so we had to leave and dry her tears to the tune of The Milkman of Human Kindness (bliss!). The Human League reminded me what a frickin' godforsaken hellhole of a decade the eighties really were, but The Friendly Fires followed by some noisy fireworks straight after made up for it. Definitely going next year and bringing sausages this time. No food store? Denied! What are we supposed to do with a barbecue and no sausages eh Mr Da Bank? Have you no soul?
Lastly, I have to salute the daddy of Camp Bestival, Mr Tumble. He held a tentful of preschoolers in the palm of his hand. Had he but asked they would have marched on parliament and installed him as emperor for life. We must hope he never decides to use his power for evil. Looking round the room at the sheer, unadulterated toddler joy it was impossible not to share the happy.

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/08/2010 17:13

Mr Tumble for Prime Minister!

sfxmum · 07/08/2010 17:16

Grin quite

and btw has anyone been to Lullworth? it is so pretty lovely small sheltered cove

Jousting should be brought back too, so entertaining

sfxmum · 07/08/2010 17:18

sharing dd's most recent joke - what do you call a cross between MrTumble and Lady GaGa?

  • Tumble FaceGrin

this is one of her most successful of a stream of splicing jokes

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/08/2010 18:37

Don't understand joke Blush but been to Lullworth. Pretty. We only stopped by after having been to Durdle Door. (We are talking about the Lulworth with the Cove and Castle in Dorset, aren't we?)

sfxmum · 07/08/2010 19:01

that is the one, the festival was at the Castle grounds
missed Durdle door this time drove past the tanks and shooting range of some kind of army school

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/08/2010 19:28

Yes we saw tanks. DSs were very impressed.

Esoteric · 07/08/2010 19:32

Hi guys

we are planning on moving back to Richmond/St Margarets/Twickenham early next year.

Does anyone know of a book club or "womans type" group as although we know people in London I wont know anyone locally and would love to make some local friends. Am not even going to be making friends at school gate etc as 12 year old son off to the Royal Alexandra (state boarding) in redhill.

Kewcumber · 07/08/2010 21:38

well *we& are a "womens type group" and will even discuss books if pressed! Normally try to meet once amonth though we have been pretty rubbich at it over the summer!

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/08/2010 21:52

In fact we only ever talk about books. Wink

sfxmum · 07/08/2010 21:52

hi esoteric I know there are a fair few book clubs about as some of the school mums have mentioned,
this lot discusses books a lot in a loose way and the wide selection and preferences can be very interesting, we are just too disorganised and opinionated to sort ourselves into a regular group discussion or choose a book we all agree on at any given time Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 07/08/2010 22:31

Opinionated? Who?

Have just watched another superb episode of Wallander!

sfxmum · 08/08/2010 22:28

hello hope everyone had a nice weekend, apparently tomorrow is the last sunny and warm day for a while...

UptoapointLordCopper · 09/08/2010 07:18

Good morning!

Kids still asleep Shock. Already bought something online. Shock Shock

Kewcumber · 09/08/2010 11:35

sorry can't make night out this coming weekend is my only free weekend until mid Sept. On the other hand if anyone fancies going out for a drink this Friday/Saturday let me know.

vbus · 09/08/2010 13:31

Hello all

Back from a fab week in Wales.

Sfx - We went to Lullworth, this is where our freinds who went to fest used to live, very nice place

KC - will have to pass on drinks this wkend as have already booked off next Sat for MN night out, but have fun if you end up going out

Copper - I love Foyles, it is a great shop. What did you buy online and why weren't you asleep??!

Esoteric - hello! What type of women's group are you looking for?

DS1 had swimming this morning which went well but he is pretty tired now, quiet afternoon for us.

Anyone around on Weds? Was thinking of going to Kew around 11-3pm. Need to get out of house as loft is being done then

tillyfernackerpants · 09/08/2010 19:35

Hi all, been a manic week for me! Am hoping it will calm down a little now!!

Hi esoteric, I'm in Brentford & go to a book club at the library once a month, don't know if that's too far for you though. Not sure what's around Richmond

vbus, meant to ask, what happened with the art classes you were taking?

Kew, sorry can't do this weekend.

Actually, must check the night out thread as not sure if I can make the date now!

sfx, glad you had a lovely time at the festival, do you think Justin will make a reappearance next year or has he been scared off? Grin Btw, your dd's jokes are better than ds1's. His effort today, 'why did the penny go upstairs?' 'because it was treat time'! Confused

Anyway, off to do more prep for class tomorrow & don't fancy another midnight finish!
