Time for a new thread!!

Mellow, congratulations!

Dusty, ds2 would look so cool with a Beatles haircut

Pc, sorry you've all been ill, glad you're on the mend. Can't believe ds will be 2

Vbus, well done on getting dh into the spare room, dh refuses to move from our bed when he's ill!! Hope he's all better for your holiday, where are you going?

We're also ready for a holiday, am waiting for The Sun cheapie deals to start up again!

Hello!

sfx - sorry can't remember much about chicken pox symptoms, but I remember that DS1 wasn't ill at all and wasn't especially grumpy. You'd know in a couple of days if the rash turn blistery, I guess.

Hello sushi!

And congrats to everyone in new houses! Hope you are settling down and enjoying the new space!

vbus · 06/07/2010 21:24

Hello all

Sfx - as others said, no real symptoms other a bit of tiredness. You could always take her to docs to be sure. Where did you go on your trip?

Still crazy days, super tired, bed soon.

Copper love being in new place though!!!

Off to Kew swing tom, is anyone else going? Sfx can you remember what time it finishes? Debating whether to take DS1 or not, he'd probably love it but is so tired

sfxmum · 06/07/2010 21:33

thanks lordcopper and vbus
she has been tired and grumpy and today asked to go to bed earlier than usual, the red dots seem to have 'heads' but what to do? if she seems ok in the morning but with dots should I keep her out of school and take her to doctor?

vbus regarding Kew Swing it was about 10pm I think, we always took dd and she fell asleep on the way home, I was offered free tickets for tomorrow but it is the same show we went to last year, good fun
btw trip was to science museum
sleep well

sfxmum · 06/07/2010 21:38

anyway I guess I will soon know what is going on just tired now
and have to shift a few things around if poor poppet comes down with the pox

UptoapointLordCopper · 06/07/2010 21:41

sfx - if not the pox still it's end of term and everyone is exhausted. Phone NHS direct and do what they tell you? Or phone school? School probably tell you to keep her at home. Phone GP surgery? I'd probably phone NHS or GP, I guess...

sfxmum · 06/07/2010 21:46

our GP is very sensible and helpful so we shall see, pretty sure school will just say keep her home, no temp and she has been sound asleep for 2hrs
can you tell she is seldom ill? apart from general coughs and colds

vbus · 06/07/2010 21:52

When DS1 got pox I got better advice from the woman runnig his preschool than at the docs, I guess she comes accross pox more than the doc

She said red spots have heads then they eventually blister and crust over. Once last spot has crusted over then safe for child to go back to school usually happens between 6-10days.
Give Piriton and/or use calamine lotion to relieve itching. Let them wear as little as possible. Oatmeal bath really helped too.

sfxmum · 06/07/2010 21:55

Thanks
still hoping it is a fuss over nothing only the pesky things look dodgy

Kewcumber · 07/07/2010 00:25

sfx DS wasn't terribly ill with CP - it was pretty much business as ususal jiust no nursery and no mixing with anyone who didn';t know in advance that he had CP. DoH rules are 5 days form appearance of spots IIRC.

Sushi - I thin kI know who your neighbours are - not English? NIce little boy - DS likes him. Ask her if she would mind me having a copy of the video - mine was form a very awkward angle.

SushiMummy · 07/07/2010 09:02

sfx - poor DD. Like others said, my DS wasn't ill prior to spots but 2-3 days after spots appeared, he was very ill with high temps about 40c. Some kids have it lightly some don't, so I suppose each case is different. Hope she gets better soon. By the way, do you know the summer holiday club/afterschool club at your DD's school went uder (due to unpaid rent for 1.5 years?)?

KC - yes, I think you know them. I'll ask her about spare video tape tonight. My DS and their DS play together every single night these days, they sometimes have dinner together now. Good thing that they go to the same school in Sept.

Have a nice day, all!

sfxmum · 07/07/2010 09:06

hello all deffo the pox but she is all bright and energetic seems to feel disappointed that she is not poorly enough to stay in bed, as that is what poorly people do

sushi thanks we will see how it goes, regarding the after school thing, it has been a huge deal for a while, the provision has changed, I think it will overall be much better from what I can tell at least.

dustythedolphin · 07/07/2010 11:36

SFX sorry to hear DD has Pox - mainly because it means we won't see you - or perhaps we might see you at the end of next week or something, once DD has crsuetd over? Hope she is feeling Ok, mine were all under the weather just before but Ok once they spotted up.

Vbus's advice below is very good. I swear by oatmeal baths - amzing cure for nappy rash

Are you still running? I've done a pathetically small amount of running but have bought an old 2nd hand bike and am loving whizzing round on that. Great thigh, bum and cardio excercise.

Kew/Sushi - We arrive on Friday 9th in evening and return here oon Sunday 18th.We have to leave home at 3am on 9th, to ensure we catch 9am ferry

(Kew your hols looked amazing - Ds is sooo cute)

Does anyone fancy a picnic in Kew after school one day next week - perhaps Weds/Thurs when mini-sfx is crusted?

We will be in Wyndham play area at 2.30pm on 10th as well if anyone is around then, pop by to say hello

PC do you have a provisional completion date?

sfxmum · 07/07/2010 11:57

hi Dusty thanks hope we do get to see you at some point

on a grim subject sis told me one of her nurses was murdered by her partner, the bastard set her on fire, the entire ward is in shock, what a horrible horrible thing, did not know her but it makes me angry

tillyfernackerpants · 07/07/2010 13:10

sfx, how horrible . How is dd? Agree with oatmeal baths, also ds's had herbal tablets - rhus tox - which helped with the itchiness, think its meant to ease the irritability of it but did seem to work!

Dusty, we'll probably be around next week in the afternoon, just let us know what day etc!

vbus, how's the new house? Sorry I couldn't make it on Sat, hopefully soon!

Seem to be busy atm, though not sure with what . Ds1 getting tired & grumpy, think he's looking forward to the holidays (as am I!). We got his school report yesterday & could go into the nursery this morning to have a look at everything they've been doing etc!

OP posts:
vbus · 07/07/2010 14:29

Sfx - that is horrible news
Poor mini-sfx, hope she doesn't suffer too much and hope cabin fever doesn't set in for you both

Dusty - great exercise biking. I really should try and get an old bike too esp as DH cycles everywhere, would be nice to go on few bike excursions

Tilly- can't believe end of term is approaching, the whole year has zipped by

PCW - you must be really excited about pending move! good luck with packing

Ds1 just had complete meltdown on the way to nursery, just came out of the blue. I guess the poor thing is really tired from house move. On that basis not sure it's wise to take him tonight, pity

pcworld · 07/07/2010 16:20

Dusty - we are moving on Fri 16th Can't make after school next Weds, Thurs not too good either for obvious reasons

pcworld · 07/07/2010 16:21

SFX, my two had the pox this time last year. Hope your dd doesn't suffer too much, some good advice given here.

dustythedolphin · 07/07/2010 20:29

PC if you are around on Saturday 2.30pm you could swing if you are free?

Will be with another friend from the north of Ireland you probably know each other!!!

SFX that is horrific - I bet there is a whole history of abuse there. Poor woman, hopefully she is a peace now.Have they arrested him?

Went into the village and the kids listened to some live music...errrm I wonder if it is a drink drive offence to take a bike ride after a pint and a half of Guinness?

dustythedolphin · 07/07/2010 20:30

PC I meant "swing by", not "swing"

sfxmum · 07/07/2010 20:42

hello all thanks for the advice we have been ok today just a little bored as you'd expect

vbus hope you had a nice time I can hear some of it now

dusty - they did arrest him, he is psychiatric nurse, apparently she managed to leave the flat call 999 and almost made it to the road, the ambulance found her practically dead horrific burns all over her face/upper body

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/07/2010 16:48

Hello!

sfx - how are you and DD?

We've just taken about 1 hour to do a 15 min trip home from school through the park. DS1 insisted on reading me his reading book in the park. Now what to do for tea??

sfxmum · 08/07/2010 17:24

hello all

lordcopper we are ok thanks for asking, the pox continues lots of new spots today, dd a bit uncomfortable but good spirits, bless her,
as for me I think I need to set alarm early and go running at least a couple of miles

SushiMummy · 08/07/2010 18:05

Testing

vbus · 08/07/2010 22:15

Sushi - what are you testing?

Sfx - glad minisfx in good spirits, hope it continues

Copper - nice day to be out and about

Swing was excellent, very relaxing and great fun! Am a bit tipsy, went a friend's business launch. Just having some tea before I go to bed. just need to get through tom then can finally relax on hols. The last few wks have been busy and exhausting but I've found this wk to be stressful, lots of last minute sorting out for old house and extra appointments this wk.

Dusty - have agreat trip, hope to see you next time

PCW - good luck with house move, can't quite believe you're going, keep in touch

sfxmum · 09/07/2010 09:47
