Time for a new thread!!

Mellow, congratulations!

Dusty, ds2 would look so cool with a Beatles haircut

Pc, sorry you've all been ill, glad you're on the mend. Can't believe ds will be 2

Vbus, well done on getting dh into the spare room, dh refuses to move from our bed when he's ill!! Hope he's all better for your holiday, where are you going?

We're also ready for a holiday, am waiting for The Sun cheapie deals to start up again!

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 24/06/2010 11:16

Sorry Kew

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/06/2010 11:16

That's meant to be a sheepish grin.

Kewcumber · 24/06/2010 14:10

Sheepish grin my arse - you're enjoying this!

Funnily enough have stopped obsessing about food - just obsessing about making sure I get enough protein (tricky). so haven't thought much about when I can eat - next stage is soft food so maybe a spag bol?

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/06/2010 19:09
Grin
sfxmum · 24/06/2010 19:20

I think that was a grown up flinging purée

anyway dd has been surviving on very little sleep, still she seemed to cope very well, at school today they had the school picture taken and a visit from the police who brought horses much to the delight of the children

lordcopper how was sports day? ours is next week, unfortunately it is during the day so can't really send dh to it

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/06/2010 19:49

sfx - it's tomorrow. Dreading it. Donated sun hat to my mum so am going to be hatless, unless I can find one in 45 mins between drop off and actual event. But will wear pretty floral dress. You can see I've got priorities right.

sfxmum · 24/06/2010 19:50

they told us to show up in trainers NOOOOO

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/06/2010 19:57

I'd wear stiletto if I've got any and can walk in them. It's a statement (of some sort). Have always detested sports days.

sfxmum · 24/06/2010 20:31

nun school of my childhood did not have sports day, plenty of confession masses and processions of one sort of another as I recall
secondary no sports day but plenty of PE I did not mind much but always prefer either the track stuff or swimming, never team sports

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/06/2010 13:43

Sports day over - silly DS1 forgot his water bottle and hat. And mostly stood around day-dreaming when the whistles blew. What a very pointless activity. Should have taken the day off.

sfxmum · 25/06/2010 18:36

I think I am having an absurdist kind of day

humankind baffles me particularly men, want dh home at least he is sensible and sane relatively speaking

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/06/2010 21:44

sfx - what's up?

dustythedolphin · 25/06/2010 22:21

Last day of term here

SFX you will have to turn up in stilletoes so you can't particiate

sfxmum · 25/06/2010 22:29

stiletos? check
last day of term? I'd be at Glasto

lordcopper was blowing off sorry only chid for company at the time, hard to explain but casual acquaintance did something totally unexpected, rather rude and inappropriate for no reason that I can fathom

  • it is fine though can be ignored but it was fresh on my mind rather baffling

dd excited that I promised to wear a dress tomorrow

pcworld · 26/06/2010 07:06

Oooh dusty - last day of term already! How is the weather over there? At this end, think dd will miss just the last week of term as we may move the week before, so pretty good timing if it does happen.

SFX - hope you have a better day today, nowt so queer as folk eh? I wore a dress one day last week (can remember the details specifically - I RARELY don a frock!) - well, dd LOVED it!

Copper - I'm with you on sports days - dd had hers last week and it did bring back some memories (of me always coming last, that is), all right - I thought I might have needed counselling afterwards!

Am having kittens over this house move (actually, we are getting a kitten when we do move - the dcs are sooo excited) - keep having second thoughts! Typical me - I can always see the pros and the cons for everything and end up driving myself mad. Must keep remembering that we will only be half an hour from the coast, that is a good sweetener

sfxmum · 26/06/2010 18:33

hello all lovely day

pcW thanks all good was just a shock really

I can heartily second your recommendation of the new play area at Kew near Queen Charlotte's cottage

had a fab time, hope we make it in time for the pool tomorrow should get really busy but may well be worthwhile
very envious of sis, she took the teens to St Ives for the week

sfxmum · 26/06/2010 18:36

meant to add about the house, big moves are always daunting and when we have children second thoughts are second nature, weighing all the pros and cons many times over but still, new beginnings are a good thing
dd would love pets too

we decided to wait out the recession here and hope that are both in employment before venturing up the property ladder

UptoapointLordCopper · 26/06/2010 19:17

Hello!

Lovely day. Had friends over. Sat in garden. Completely sozzled.

What to do about childcare during school holidays? Favourite childminder too busy.

dustythedolphin · 26/06/2010 23:37

SFX "lordcopper was blowing off" ???

PC weather is hot and sunny here. Oh lordy remind me exactly where you are moving to again, is it Brighton/Hove?

Bought a used bicycle today and have been playing on it most if the day! There are no pavements here but its fairly safe to cycle as its so laid back that drivers are rarely in a hurry

Went to mass and there was an English priest over from Hackney and missed London a teeny weeny squeaky lil' bit, just for one nano-second

dustythedolphin · 26/06/2010 23:40

too many s

Copper that sounds like the purrrfick day to me!

Kewcumber · 27/06/2010 21:23

hi - back form fab new forest camping with other single parents. Feral child played in teh woods with other kids virtually non stop with only "toy" being a water squirter and a big pile of barbies (?!).

Highlight was playing a dead body for the bog boys film project for school and a donkey heist of our rubbish in the middle of the night... does life get any better than that?

Actually yes, the shower I am about to take!

sfxmum · 27/06/2010 22:07

spot the convent girl hey dusty

KewC sounds like a riot of fun
how was parent night?

dd not well today, school unlikely tomorrow but at least glorious day

UptoapointLordCopper · 28/06/2010 10:50

Hello!

Heard a bit of the history of the world in 100 object programme on the way in to work. Wish there is time to teach kids to play chess. School is ruining our life. Why watch football, stand in a sports field under a hot sun, or watch HSM when you could learn the blood-thirsty game of chess?

sfxmum · 28/06/2010 13:58

I like that programme Lordcopper have podcast to listen to at leisure

longing for holidays actually particularly with Glasto this weekends, proper Summer vibe, along with Camp Bestival I booked this cheap festival day, tickets still available for Saturday £15 kids 5 and under go free

dd home today recovering so housebound

vbus · 28/06/2010 14:41

Hello all

We're now in our new house, woo hoo! I'm completely exhausted, DS2 seems v.unsettled and is really clingy and keeps waking at 5am as it's so light in his rm not great. DS1 OTOH loves the new place, said it's much better than the old place

Sfx - fest looks fab, pity can't go as we have a wedding that day. Stayed up far too late watching Glasto at wkend

Dusty - enjoy the summer hols

KC - wkend sounds fun. How are you feeling now?

PCW - is house sale back on or are you going to rent there for a while. Good luck!

Copper - I love chess too, no idea where I packed my chess set though
