Pc, sorry you've all been ill, glad you're on the mend. Can't believe ds will be 2

Vbus, well done on getting dh into the spare room, dh refuses to move from our bed when he's ill!! Hope he's all better for your holiday, where are you going?

We're also ready for a holiday, am waiting for The Sun cheapie deals to start up again!

sfxmum · 24/05/2010 16:25

sfxmum · 24/05/2010 16:27

meant to say hope everyone is enjoying the weather it is all going colder soon

tilly how goes the pox? expect that the heat is not helping

Kewcumber · 24/05/2010 18:10

oh yikes - no kew for me friday - hospital have called , can I come in for op early on Weds Bit surreal to think I am going to have a large bit of my stomach removed on WEds (assuking my platelets are behaving themselves!) GULP.

sfxmum · 24/05/2010 20:29

kewC yikes indeed but I suppose if it is going to happen best get on with it - hope it all goes very smoothly
how is ds taking the news?

Kewcumber · 24/05/2010 20:43

hmm - suspiciously quiet. Have a book on hospial but he is insising on sleeping with me which is always a sign of him getting insecure. At least I will have plenty of time with him afterwards.

sfxmum · 24/05/2010 21:00

yes I expect he remembers last time, in a way being in the middle of the week means he can carry on with normal routine
I am sure he will be ok

dustythedolphin · 24/05/2010 21:56

Vbus that sounds nice - a heatwave gice one a real "feel good" factor doesn't it? Felt like south of France here - we drove down to a place called "Loophead" about 35 minutes away, a mini-Lands End, basically a cliff sticking out into the sea (kept a tight hold on the DCs as there was a sheer drop)with a Lighthouse.

On the one side was an amazing set of cliffs with arches underneath and on the other we could see across the Shannon estuary to the Dingle peninsular, which is stunning - loads of black mountains sticking out into the sea.

Treated myself to a cold beer and we sat in a little bay at a nearby village eating chips

SSFX I worked alongside NDCs, they were nice as they had money to spend . Its just been announced that 200 kids have died in state care in Ireland in the past 10 years!

KKew good luck for your Op - you have been hit with one health scare after another - its not fair (((hugs)))

TTilly I'm glad I wasn't the only one with a ddodgy cleaner. Can't afford one here as they chareg 15 euros an hour

dustythedolphin · 24/05/2010 21:58

Ooops have developed a stttammer

vbus · 25/05/2010 13:28

Kew - eeek, good luck with op, hope all goes well and DS not too freaked out

Dusty - your day trip sounds lovely

Sfx - how is your revision going?

Off to b'day party later after nursery, nice day for it

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/05/2010 13:36

Hello all!

Busy preparing for parents' visit. Oh and work. Hope everyone enjoying the weather.

Kew - good luck!

tillyfernackerpants · 25/05/2010 16:07

kew, good luck for tomorrow

Seems everyone's been having lovely relaxed weekends

Ds1 hopefully over the worst of it, we'll see tonight. During the day at least I can distract him but the nights have been bad [yawwwnnnn]. And we're slowly going bonkers with the house arrest!!

OP posts:
vbus · 26/05/2010 13:32

Tilly - is DS1 getting better? At least you can play out in the garden in this weather.

Just back from spending morning at Kew with some friends, so nice but am knackered now

Have some exciting news...we're moving!!!

Only up the road but we exchanged yesterday and want to complete next week. Looks like we're staying in the area

sfxmum · 26/05/2010 13:43

hello all

vbus congratulations

tilly hope the boys are better and you can soon go out
revision going well I am even slightly ahead of schedule which is perfect given the half term coming up

wonder how KewC is getting on, hopefully al going well and she is on the good stuff

here just busy with study and usual stuff
am crossed with self for forgetting to actually sign up to the kids 5K race, it is now sold out, haven't told dd as I am looking for alternative but she will be very upset I think, maybe Disneyland will soften the blow but she has been telling people she is on training for the 5k

lizzylu · 27/05/2010 09:44

Hi all, am fairly new to the area and was wondering if anyone has any feedback on the Richmond Practice on Mount Arat Road? I need to bring DD to a paediatrician and was going to perhaps try there...thanks

vbus · 27/05/2010 10:59

Hello all

Lizzylu - hello Sorry can't help as don't know the practice. How old is your dd?

Sfx - thanks, we're v. excited about the move and hope to be in new house by end of June. Gutting about the race But yes at least you have Disneyland to look fwd to !

Copper - have your parents arrived, are they staying long?

sfxmum · 27/05/2010 11:13

hello

lizzylu Mount Arat is a private practice so no experience sorry strictly NHS for us but I expect it would be fine it is fairly big and geared toward overseas visitors
good luck

vbus do you have to do work on the house before moving?

studying lots here but should really fir in some running as I am clearly getting cranky, even just a couple of miles should do it

any news from KewC?

pcworld · 27/05/2010 13:07

vbus - how very dare you exchange before me?? We MAY be exchanging by mid-June {{gulp}} but not holding breath. V exciting - so are you going to do any work to the house before moving in or will it be full steam ahead?

Tilly - hope you are staying sane and the spots are receding!

Have just dropped my mum off at Heathrow (great signage, by the way, BAA - top marks!! Not.) so feeling sad. ds is going to be very confused when he wakes up to find Grandma gone Luckily we are seeing her again in a week for a family celebration.

AIt's my birthday tomorrow and so have been practising eating cakes EVERY DAY this week

lizzylu · 27/05/2010 13:16

vbus and sfxmum - Hi, thanks for replies. DD is 5 months. GP referred us to Kingston but apparently due to cost cuts at the paed clinic we won't be seen until early July so just keen to get her sorted before then.

vbus · 27/05/2010 13:39

Lizzylu- shame about Kingston cost cuts, the paed dept there is great if you do end up having to wait.

PCW - we tried to hold off and told our vendor that we couldn't possibly exchange until PCW had exchanged but sorry he was having none of it
Good idea practising eating cake, any special plans to celebrate?

Some work needs doing to the house but tbh we've decided to hold off until next year as have enough on our plate atm. Might just tackle the garden this summer instead, and will have to put up with 1960's kicthen units and salmon bathroom, nice!

Wonder how KC is?

Have older BIL coming to visit later today, he is expecting is his 1st baby in Nov, he's v. excited. Off to sports day soon, can't wait!

pcworld · 27/05/2010 14:09

Has kc had the op at this point?

vbus - sounds like a v sensible plan, you can enjoy the garden - and it makes sense anyway to take your time re: any plans for the rest of the house. So exciting!

Have just hung out the washing while eyeing up a dark cloud and hoping that it stays where it is ! Forecast seems a bit patchy for tomorrow - typical - school inset day!

sfxmum · 27/05/2010 14:28

lizzylu shame about the cuts, dd was referred to Kingston and was seen within a week, they were great - I hope you get it sorted soon

pcW school inset day on your birthday is not really ideal is it? good going on practising eating cake, I miss cake come to think of it
KewC is supposed to have had op yesterday

it is dd's birthday next week and will not bake 4 cakes for assorted parties like last year, she is complaining already, but I can't take cake to France and they don't really do Birthday cakes there, last year dh had a torte for his birthday then consoled himself with pain au chocolat and croissants

did manage to run as well as study but not so much housework, almost hope dd insists on company after school so I can avoided it altogether and just have coffee with another mum

sfxmum · 27/05/2010 14:30

considereing baking this weekend and the following weekend when family is over

dd wants a Nintendo DS for her birthday
teacher tells me it has been a popular present this year

I will give her a new scooter and that is it might mention gadgets to grandparents

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/05/2010 16:15

Hi!

Parents here for three weeks. DS2 and I accompanied them to town this morning and did some sightseeing, mainly from the top deck of a bus. I'm exhausted but DS2 is still going strong ...

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/05/2010 16:17

sfx - Nintendo DS seems popular birthday gifts for 4-5YOs. I disapprove. > I'll get one for the family at some point but it will not be anyone's birthday present.
