Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

Good morning!

We went down to a quaint little pub near Shepperton for lunch. Thatched roof and all that. Very nice food too.

vbus - I watched the first film too but not sure I can stomach the second ...

Kew - OW! But what are you supposed to have done about it?

Work work work. Is it the weekend yet?

vbus · 15/03/2010 13:14

Copper - not wkend yet but it does look like Spring is here! had a good morning at playground

Sfx - do tell I did like the music

Have you decided on fest yet?

sfxmum · 15/03/2010 13:20

kew&vbus no decisions yet I might have to decide for dh, kept asking him who he would like to see play live and just got mumbles so have been booking gigs for myself
still, would like to go to a festival this Summer

had a lovely run by the river, my new loop route, very easy and pleasant

lordcopper pub sounds lovely

it is our anniversary next weekend no babysitting so we will all do something together, hope the weather holds

sfxmum · 15/03/2010 13:27

and btw the parcel turned up today, after 2 days spent staying 'because a signature was needed' it was on by my door, dropped there sometime between me coming in from run and going out to basement to dispose of rubbish
will leave feedback

UptoapointLordCopper · 15/03/2010 18:05

sfx - friend used to be told parcel has been left at the porch, despite her house not having a porch ...

Pig's trotters for tea!

vbus · 15/03/2010 19:02

Pigs trotters

Can't believe both boys in bed by 6.55pm I decided to try putting them both the bed together tonight, saved me 20mins and they seemed to enjoy it too, yay

Sfx - you still didn't reveal your fave scene??!

Kewcumber · 15/03/2010 19:07

re cracked heel - think you are supposed to lovingly run flexitol (or similar) on feet to soften up Rhino skin and stop cracking. Can't remember when I last rubbed anything lovingly on any part of my body...

sfxmum · 15/03/2010 19:22

regarding feet I am slightly obsessive about moisturising them everyday at least once and Flexitol actually works but prefer Palmer's cocoa butter

lordcopper re pigs trotters you would be welcomed with open arms in Portugal have you had pigs blood?

vbus sound like a result

UptoapointLordCopper · 15/03/2010 19:42

sfx - used to have pigs blood when we were little. In soups. Quite nice, if I recall, but funny texture. A bit metallic, strangely enough. You can find them in Chinese restaurants but haven't had any for ages. Pigs intestines is nice too. Figure if you kill an animal might as well make the most of it. Trotters found in waitrose. They do sell strange things there. But chicken innards much nicer. Can find them in halal shops but not convinced about halal way of slaughtering animals ...

DS2 in bed at 7.14 and asleep by 7.19 when DS1 went in. But DS1 just called and wanted to know if bed bugs are for real and whether we had any ...

dustythedolphin · 15/03/2010 22:42

Is there a link between pigs trotters and cracked feet?

Kew - lol yes one has to drink Guinness

SFX are you still running? I've been bad, so bad...

We had big parade in village, but it did have a touch of the Trannie Fest about it: Rose of Tralee lorry was full of big hairy farmers dressed as women, and then St Pat himself was very camp indeed , offering a flash of his thigh for 50 euros.

...I have seen a whole new side to village life

Kewcumber · 15/03/2010 22:48

vbus - sorry just realised that you asked where we had gone - Ma has just caravan down in Selsey (coast near chicester) - first weekend down. DS and I are both exhausted but was nice weekend.

Dusty - in the olden days when I drank rather more than was good for me, I got paralytically drunk on black velvets (champagne and guiness cocktails for those who don;t know) and have never been able to look a Guiness in the eye again.

stepfordwife · 16/03/2010 09:47

hello all
hope you're all well and had a lovely mother's day
dusty - st.paddy's day sounds fab!
kew, I WANNA CARAVAN!

well it was my birthday on fri (thanks for FB wishes) and had fab facial and lunch with my sister then vino and pizza in the evening with her, dh and brood.

had sis and her family round for mother's day, feeling sad anyway as another painful "first" without our ma, te put my bloody back out. (god knows how).
i swear to god the pain was worse than childbirth.
bit better now but hobbling around and painful (lower back/right hip).
any tips please?
pill-popping and got a a deep heat patch on (also had lots of vino on sunday - medicinal don'tcha know) and ten couldn't sleep as thought i'd expire from extra-strong painkillers/patch/wine cocktail.

have/had lots planned this week so (literally) a pain, including our anniversary on st.paddy's day.

right, time for a hobble around...
hope everyone enjoying the sunshine
toodlepip

sfxmum · 16/03/2010 18:01

ouch steppie hope you recover well
sounds like a nice birthday

I have been on a school trip to the NHM dear me seems like all had a lot of fun am also very tired indeed, the little boy sitting next to me in the coach asked if he could sleep and promptly snoozed all the way back.

vbus · 16/03/2010 19:28

Sfx - aww that's so cute! glad you had a good trip

Steppie - how are you feeling now? Hope your back gets better soon. At least you had a lovely birthday

KC - good timing to get caravan, just in time for spring and summer break, probably would stretch into autumn too

Back from playdate which included a beautician. Kids all played while us mums took turns to have stuff done. I had my eyebrows threaded for 1st time, bizarre experience!

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/03/2010 19:41

What on earth is eyebrow threading?

vbus · 16/03/2010 19:47

Basically shaping eyebrows using a thread to extract hair.

I don't normally bother with mine unless for wedding or something major and have only had them waxed before. Apprently results are better with threading, we shall see!

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/03/2010 20:01

Eeek!

Have never in my life been to a beautician ... Am I missing out?

tillyfernackerpants · 16/03/2010 20:32

Vbus, threading - ouch! Playdate with a beautician . What will you have to do on your playdate now though?

Sfx, how sweet!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 16/03/2010 20:51

dolphin still running and doing a 10K on the 27th, go out your running shoes on

speaking of beauticians I have a neighbour who apparently was made redundant but seems to be quite a good beautician judging by the feedback of people I know, she does waxing, threading, kids hair, manicures, pedicures, etc all for very reasonable prices and from her flat, will try soon, single mum bringing up teen daughters, the sort of person I am happy to give business to if she is good

I should be studying but will watch sci fi instead Caprica and Fringe quite entertaining

vbus · 17/03/2010 09:19

Sfx - can you send me the link for your run please?

Tilly - I am hosting this Fri and I think they will be disappointed as no crafts/beautician lined up

sfxmum · 17/03/2010 11:22

vbus will look for it, its not an organised race just the MN relay marathon happening over the last weekend of March

competitive playdate have already enough anxiety as it is

can't find my motivation or my good spirits, anyone find them send them my way please

looking for Summer festival and leaning toward Green man

vbus · 17/03/2010 13:27

sfx - are you collecting sponsorship though? here's some good cheer coming your way

I got 4 parcles today incl. my new speedo swimsuit, 99p off ebay, what a bargain!

stepfordwife · 17/03/2010 15:47

threading is fab, vbus
i quite liked the sensation
lasts longer than waxing

think i told you how i got my sister to do it and she reacted really badly - all around her eyes so swollen and red you couldn't see her perfect eyebrows!

hello everyone!

stepfordwife · 17/03/2010 15:48

happy st patrick's day!
sorry, only green one!

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/03/2010 17:19

Hello!

Had a nice play in the park on our way back. Exhausted now. DS1 has taken nearly 45 mins to change into his favourite clothes. I don't think he's even taken off his school jumper yet.

Might go swimming after school tomorrow. Are pools busy after school? Also might check out dancing school for DS2. Imagine DS2 among the pink fluffiness.

I remain unconvinced about this threading business...
