Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

Yes, the classes are big there, aren't they, for the little ones anyway. dd has about 16 in her class, but seems to be doing ok at mo.
dh is that teachers don't get in the water...but he was brought up in oz....

mind you, ds2 is the sole person in his class! so it's like having a private lesson without having to pay extra. now ds2 joins in his lesson (after his own lesson) to give ds1 someone to interact with..
so that result makes up for dd's mob-swimming lessons, i suppose..

right, about half what i'd intended to achieve on the work front and a quarter on the domestic treadmill front..
pretty good going then

stepfordwife · 09/03/2010 15:47

..sorry got my ds1s and ds2s mixed up...sure you can work it out..(in the unlikely event you're interested enough )

Kewcumber · 09/03/2010 15:47

where do you get the lessons between 4 from?

20 kids with two teachers not good - particularly if neither is in the water - thats mad.

DS is a bit kamakaze in the pool (loves playing dead floating in the water face down )

sfxmum · 09/03/2010 16:29

at pools in the park you can get them there

tillyfernackerpants · 09/03/2010 17:46

hi all, hope everyone's ok

Am v at talk of cleaners.

vbus, hope ds1 is better this week. Ds1 is fine on his back now but took a few weeks for him to get used to it.

I've complained about the size of the swimming classes before at Pools in the Park. The one ds1 is in now has 10 children, 2 teachers in the pool & one on the side. Slightly better, but don't know if we will continue after this lot. There's a swimming club near us on Friday evenings & I'm going to try & get him into that instead.

Just finished watching 'Women', it was quite interesting and amusing in parts

Tilly - Ds1 still got bit of cold/cough but much better thanks

Sfx - at class size with no teachers in pool.

KC - will send you details for swim in Twick. Not sure if there are any spaces but can ask the woman who runs it if she's there on thur

We are going away at Easter for a few days to East Devon, cannot wait Not sure about rest of hols yet, may stay here or may go to Wales, haven't decided yet

SushiMummy · 10/03/2010 07:24

Morning all. Hope you are well.

Took DS to dentist, as feared DS has decay and needs treatment . Both DH and I have bad teeth so it's probably genetic. DS is not allowed any sweets at all which is going to be hard. He was very good at dentist and looking forward to the next visit .

sfx - I saw you in Richmond on Monday (we were driving past).

KC - Saw your lovely DS at nursery. It's spelt kamikaze btw.

SushiMummy · 10/03/2010 08:37

BTW, does anyone know a good cake maker (I have tried CoV but she is fully booked)? My in-laws 50th anniversary is in Easter and we would like a cake made for them. Unfortunately my MIL has coeliac disease so the case has to be dairy free and gluten free. TIA

UptoapointLordCopper · 10/03/2010 13:09

Hi!

Sushi - sorry don't know cakemakers. Gluten- and dairy-free is definitely beyond me... Good luck! Shame about DS's teeth but hopefully it will be sorted out early and he'll be fine.

Have DS2 at home today. Difficult to do too much work...

vbus - I like the bit where sceptical studio presenter (male) said which women are slaves and entire studio audience went "ALL". And the crowning of a sheep to protest against Miss America pageant:

  • "but I always thought you regret it because it is insulting to the participants of the pageant (not because of animal rights)"
  • "Oh, and that too"

But it makes you think how far we've come and how far yet to go.

mellow2 · 10/03/2010 14:35

Sushi - Sorry to hear about tooth/teeth decay.

I think dd would like to attend a swimming class. Are there any weekend ones?

Vbus - Glad you've gotten over colds.

sfxmum · 10/03/2010 14:43

hi all busy busy day

sushi I know someone local who bakes cakes on the side but will ask about gluten and dairy free - hope all is well with you

speaking of telly (still to catch up with women) did anyone watch Newsnight last night? specifically the segment with the hedge fund manager? did they just trot out the most despicable person they could find? total tool and a few more choice words I would like to call him utterly repellent
Newsnight and that priest story was also quite sickening

vbus · 10/03/2010 16:12

Hello

Sushi - sorry to hear about tooth decay. Good luck trying to find a cake maker gluten and dairy free, I never found anyone who would make an egg free cake so I always made my own b'day cakes in the end for DS1.

Copper - I also liked the bit when they kept asking GG about why she didn't do marches/protests and in the end she replied because she couldn't be bothered

vbus · 10/03/2010 18:00

Sfx - story was pretty sick

UptoapointLordCopper · 11/03/2010 07:33

Good morning!

Overheard DS2: "mum what are we having for breakfast?" "Same as always, bits of dead animals."

It just goes to show how important it is to make yourself conversant in whatever literature your children are reading. Otherwise it might be quite disturbing. These people are compulsive repeater and memoriser of lines.

sfxmum · 11/03/2010 11:23

lordcopper LOL

good morning all

hope everyone is free of nasty bugs
tried new running route today, a loop around the river crossing Kew and Chiswick bridges, very pleasant but I got lost and ended up at the jetty who knew?

pcworld · 11/03/2010 11:57

Hello from a vomit-ridden household - I am the last man standing! Poor dd currently in bed, very out of sorts. House looks like we've been burgled and I am in my day pyjamas!

LOL at SFX getting lost, I remember doing that on Wimbledon Common years ago and ending up on the A3!

UptoapointLordCopper · 11/03/2010 12:12

I remember trying to walk along the grand union canal from paddington to camden and ending up at Kensal rise...

Not as bad as friends who tried to visit us from Basingstoke. They ended up in Southhampton.

sfxmum · 11/03/2010 12:31

Southampton? were they relying on satnav?

pcW that sounds horrid poor you seems you have had your fair share of nasties this year

wasn't BAD lost I followed a sign saying 'to towpath' which in reality was just a few yards by the river and a round about route leading to where the rich folk store their boats I went back on the road and was on the bridge in no time, still found the new gym and little gym

it says it is 6 Celsius out but I guarantee you the wind makes it feel way lower than that

UptoapointLordCopper · 11/03/2010 13:15

sfx - before the days of sat nav. All their own work.

vbus · 11/03/2010 13:24

Hello all

PCW - Poor you and Dc, hope the bugs clear up soon and that you're bearing up.

Sfx - hear hear, winter has gone on long enough, feels like I'm back in Sweden again where winter does last 6mths

Copper - LOL at friends ending up S'ton. My friend came to visit me from Leeds and it took her 6hrs because she put in wrong postcode in sat nav, oops

I have now stopped breastfeeding. I feel quite weird about it

pcworld · 11/03/2010 14:10

Thanks, vbus- all is fine really, just feel so sorry for poor dd. ds seems to be back to normal already - read: high spirited, full of beans, a bundle of trouble energy Hope you are ok, that is quite a milestone.

SFX, yes - time to start browsing holiday ideas in warm locations!

Agree re: the weather, I don't even remember winters in N Ireland being so long/cold! Have even found myself viewing Ugg boots online, never thought I would go there!

sfxmum · 11/03/2010 14:20

oh vbus love that is quite a big deal, the old bitter sweet experience

yesterday we had a playdate here 4 kids total and the little one, nearly 3yr old boy was breastfeeding the doll bless

vbus · 11/03/2010 14:37

Pcw - re: uggs

I am pleased to have done it for so long, it just felt weird when I handed ds2 a cup of milk this morning. I'm sure I'll get used to it, he already has!

vbus · 11/03/2010 14:38

Sfx - DS1 used to do that when DS2 came on the scene

tillyfernackerpants · 11/03/2010 15:30

vbus, they're really not babies anymore

Was observing a bf class the other night, surrounded by pregnant women all expecting their first, made me feel v broody!

Copper, lol at ds2's conversation. Ds1 was talking to the priest the other day, saying he'd been playing superheroes with his friends & that they'd caught the baddies. The priest asked what they did with the baddies, ds1 replies 'we killed them' .

Just watched Up with ds1, the beginning is really moving and sad. I couldn't watch it properly as otherwise I would've been in floods of tears
