Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

OP posts:

Hello!

DS1 threw up yesterday evening. But slept and starved himself and seems fine this afternoon ...

Otherwise uneventful. Been out for a potter about and got a nice posh Hobbs mac at a charity shop to replace my falling-to-bits coat. Always wanted a mac.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine!

vbus · 08/03/2010 19:27

Hello

Hope everyone had a good wkend.

Copper - how's DS? hurray for coat find

We went to party on Sat and DS1 threw up but I think it was more coughing then gagging rather than a bug as he's been fine since

Sfx - well done on training. LOl at early finish at gig

Lovely long walk in Bushy yesterday in the sun, lots of deer out & runners

sfxmum · 08/03/2010 21:01

hello all

what is it with all the vomiting? everyone seems to have a child going through something, hope everyone well today

I spent the day in London at the women for women march, pic and links on FB, it was pretty good wish I could have taken dd

so tired now, hopefully will for 4 mile run tomorrow we shall see, don't feel tired today

vbus am seeing Idlewild again mid April, but at a more rock'n'roll hour

and Kathryn Bigelow won

sfxmum · 08/03/2010 21:02

I meant no tired legs but generally tired for lack of sleep

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/03/2010 21:58

Hello!

Is anyone watching "Women" on BBC4?

sfx - pictures look good. One day off school for DD is not going to affect her life chances? Just about the only thing I wish my parents did more in our school days was to bunked off more, IYKWIM. We are leaving our bunking-off for the summer if my parents come to visit .

DS1 seems fine. If it's a bug it was vomitted out!

vbus · 09/03/2010 09:39

Hi

Copper - Was 'Women' any good? I completely forgot to watch it but might try and catch on iplayer.

I'm on Desperate Housewives series 2 atm, it does make me chuckle

Sfx - glad you had a good day, will check out your pics later

sfxmum · 09/03/2010 10:08

good morning

lordcopper will check that later on iplayer

was watching 5 days which was pretty good

day of housework and study, possibly more study than housework but none of them appeal right now

stepfordwife · 09/03/2010 10:27

good morning, all
march looks good, sfx.
ah a-levels...THINK i can vaguely remember doing them..
not that i've ever been asked for proof of any exams...think i'll tag on an oxford degree to my CV

yes, lots of sickness activity at stepford towers..luckily most of it was on fri evening when i stayed at my sister's. result.
dh was woken at 3am by ds1 projectile vomiting from his top bunk. took an age to clean ds2's guitar strings and the lego that was left all over the floor....
then ds2 joined in and, to add insult to injury, the cat crapped on the sofa...
when i got home after a late night of drinking too much vino with my sis and slurring putting the world to rights, he looked even rougher than me...(dh, that is, not the cat)

right, have decided to do a shedload of work today AND clean house from top to bottom (Oh...kew.. i miss the cleaner..)
unrealistic expectations anyone?
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 09/03/2010 10:29

snap, sfx!
we're failing on similar missions..

stepfordwife · 09/03/2010 10:29

too early for lunch?

Kewcumber · 09/03/2010 10:43

nah just about right...

(and she has two hours free on a thursday...)

She here now and the sparkly bits are slowly emerging from under the grime.

sfxmum · 09/03/2010 10:44

steppie I saw you with your merry band crossing the road yesterday after school, we were going to the pool, when we got there dd screamed and cried and refused to go to the lesson

why is it still so cold? I hope not like this at Easter break, we have to stay in London and I need outdoors days

stepfordwife · 09/03/2010 10:49

cleaner [ENVY] kew
two hours isn't enough

yes, it's bloody cold, isn't it, sfx?
why do you think dd didn't want her lesson? (too cold perhaps!)
ah, hope i wasn't shouting at merry band..

right, back to waiting for inspiration to hit me between the eyes...
yeah, is about right time for lunch...

stepfordwife · 09/03/2010 10:50

cleaner even...

Kewcumber · 09/03/2010 11:03

ah but 2 hrs enough to revolutionise the ground floor and who cares about the rest!

stepfordwife · 09/03/2010 11:16

good point, kew...
i can smell "products" wafting up, so i think dh is cleaning the bathroom...
i actually (whisper it) quite like cleaning..
what i can't stand is the tidying up and decluttering to enable one to clean..
nah! i've made my no-cleaner stand, got to stick to it for longer than a month...or perhaps not...

sfxmum · 09/03/2010 11:27

steppie she just does not like being told what to do by teachers and to be fair they barely teach there are just too many kids in the class

  • no shouting at least none that I heard above the traffic noise

kew stop it! cleaner envy, am failing to make place look presentable and have actually been cleaning

sfxmum · 09/03/2010 11:29

now where is my re scheduled delivery parcel? I expect they will come around at school run time like last week

so much talk of lunch am wondering what to have for mine

Kewcumber · 09/03/2010 11:35

I didn't think they "do" teaching in reception? Thought it was all learning through play stuff? I was in a class of 35 at primary - no teaching assistants in those days either!

sfxmum · 09/03/2010 11:48

I meant swimming class I sort of expected them to build her water confidence but it seems to have gone the other way

Kewcumber · 09/03/2010 13:22

sorry didn't read that properly. DS went to a great class run by two women at Pools on the paark has moved up to a differntclass which I think is rubbish run by two men (disclaimer : gender does not determine whether you are a good swimming teacher!)

I'm thinking of moving him before next term because I don;t think he's learning anything at all - more from me at our weekly swims than them. He spends a lot of time hanging around waiting for all the otehr children to swim their width by which time he's lost interest and is messing around.

I might try individual private lessons once a month instead.

vbus · 09/03/2010 13:27

Sfx - do you know if it's anything specific about the swimming dd doesn't like? Do you think you'll continue with the lessons?

It's interesting that DS1 has been loving his lesson but the last 2 times I've had to phsyically carry him to the poolside as he said he didn't want to swim. Lo and behold as soon as he's in the water he loves it and comes out buzzing after the lesson. His teacher said a few wks ago they started swimming on their backs and he didn't like it and now he tells me this is why doesn't want to go Overall his confidence in the water has dramatically improved though despite this setback, fingers crossed he won't freak out this week.

Steppie - hope your lot are over the bugs now, good timing for your night out

vbus · 09/03/2010 13:30

I meant to add the thing I love about Ds lessons are that there are only 4 in the class so they each get to do quite a lot of solo swimming with the teacher

sfxmum · 09/03/2010 13:48

about swimming there are at least 20kids in the class 2 teacher who don't even get in the water with 4/5 yr old, so no don't think we will continue, she did it since January was fine until the back swimming thing, only 2 more lessons to go, I think we will look for 3 other children to share a class, then I think she will do better

lots of parents have been complaining about the class sizes too(some progress on the house cleaning, not so much in the studying, still no parcel - I do lead an interesting life

UptoapointLordCopper · 09/03/2010 14:52

DS2 threw up in nursery after lunch! Is it normal to have a 3-day gap between bugs? Anyway he's hiding under the fleece blanket on the sofa and seems fine now. Hopefully it will be over quickly.

vbus - "Women" quite interesting. Worth watching. Quite funny too.

sfx - we are going to same place in France for Easter. Exciting, eh? Hopefully a day trip to Paris too. But actually would also quite like holiday in London...

As for swimming DS1 insists that I should teach him how to swim. Luckily I have a "How to teach your child to swim" book ...
