Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

sfxmum · 22/02/2010 13:44

there were at least 4 snow showers, did not settle as rain kept falling in between
must go out even if to M&S too cooped up

vbus · 22/02/2010 14:06

yes we had snow too, cleverly coincided with school run, d'oh

Sfx - went for bjorn again but will go without dc so can let my hair down, hee hee!

Going to make some apple crumble now & fish pie, need some winter warming food

vbus · 22/02/2010 14:08

Sfx - why not have a look in John lewis or house of fraser as they stock wide range of smart brands, I also love Nine west shoes. Bit pricey but they are comfy and tend to last

tillyfernackerpants · 22/02/2010 14:32

Just rain here but no school run today at least!

Wish I had some fruit to make a crumble, especially as I have custard in the fridge. Am wondering if I could use eating apples rather than cooking apples? Mind you, I have no sugar at all so guess it won't make any difference

Steppie, hope you're feeling better

Dusty, how sad for your friend. Hope you're feeling better too

Kewcumber · 22/02/2010 14:39

I need boats not shoes so don;t ask me.

Illegality using the Jones Hen scale:

1 - UK Citizen or leave to remain or valid work permit AND paying tax (Hen's teeth)
2 - as above but not paying tax (Hen's legs)
3 - student or other visa with no right work (hen's feathers)
4 - rowed themself over on a lilo and they don't exist in any computer system (Iceland Chicken Nuggets)

sfxmum · 22/02/2010 15:09

KC LoL at scale

vbus Bjorn again were so much fun last year, loved it despite the rain, would go again if not school night
and regarding shoes thanks will have a look, planning Kingston trip, I still have some Nine West sandals very comfy despite being strappy and high heeled all pre child of course

tilly I usually keep frozen fruit packs for crumble purposes I think most supermarket do them - life saver

looking at the devastation in Madeira particularly down town Funchal very weird to see familiar features awash with muddy water. I know it is a particular and extreme weather event but I would bet most of the damage is due to rubbish infrastructure due to the widespread corruption in public works/ services
and you just have to know the geography to be able to anticipate such a consequence, it is not the first time flash floods happened

sorry end of venting

UptoapointLordCopper · 22/02/2010 16:30

DS2 says he finds rattle snakes in the construction area in the nursery, but they won't eat him because he finds lizards, birds, squirrels and dead men to feed them. Do you think I should complain on health and safety grounds?

tillyfernackerpants · 22/02/2010 20:04

LordC,

Sfx, good idea re frozen fruit, thanks

Right, must get back to studying. Have to produce a leaflet on coping with pain in labour

OP posts:
sfxmum · 22/02/2010 21:03

tilly regarding leaflet imo it should be about making mums feel like they have a choice and helping them keep an open mind to 'give me the strongest drugs STAT'

sfxmum · 22/02/2010 21:04
Grin
tillyfernackerpants · 23/02/2010 15:34

sfx - in your humble opinion? No, you're right, this is just meant to tell them what's available & advantages & disadvantages of each blah blah!

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 23/02/2010 16:21

Perhaps it's some hospitals and some midwives who need some sort of reminder about choices and rights and such esoteric things too?

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/02/2010 16:24

But must go and cook dinner.

sfxmum · 23/02/2010 22:00

hello where did this wet day go?
yet another inset day I think even dd is bored, she asked to go to bed early after spending the week trying to stay up as late as possible

am now checking on her in slightly neurotic fashion worrying she is coming down with something

Kewcumber · 24/02/2010 08:23

tilly - is it going to cover adoption as an option?

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/02/2010 11:09

Hello!

Have a big form to fill in for work. Very depressing. Harrumph.

tillyfernackerpants · 24/02/2010 12:49

Kew, good point as we all know adoption is the easy way of avoiding labour pain

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 24/02/2010 20:19

Hello!

Had to rescue DS2 from nursery early today. Banged his thumb quite badly.

Parents' evening in school tomorrow. What questions shall I ask? Have also discovered the mystery of why DS1 does not have stickers on his sticker chart. He brings the stickers home. One mystery solved. How many more to go?

sfxmum · 24/02/2010 20:35

is there a sticker album?

letter from school today saying someone has head lice in dd's class, and so it begins, something to talk about

it seems school dinners were a success, I feel rejected but to be fair she prefers hot food for lunch

hope everyone is well today

sfxmum · 24/02/2010 20:36

lordcopper take it thumb not broken? was he very upset?

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/02/2010 20:47

Thumb swollen, and he cried all the way home. Took some calpol, arnica, and Charlie and Lola before he returned to his usual self. And was asleep quite quickly as well earlier. So probably will mend itself. How to tell if thumb broken?

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/02/2010 20:50

Apparently there is a sticker chart. Will have a nose about tomorrow.

We had warnings about lice and I bought potions and combs but luckily no one's got it so far.

DS1 goes for school dinners now and then. It's all about who you sit with, apparently. I quite like packing lunch for him, but also quite like him having hot food for lunch. As long as he doesn't choose a sandwich. I think he has secret cravings for cheap sliced white bread.

sfxmum · 24/02/2010 21:07

"I think he has secret cravings for cheap sliced white bread" yes those guilty pleasures

about broken I think only with x-ray but the test we always had was if you can wiggle and bend it it's not broken

Tilly are you watching Caprica? catching up now, love those papers, want some of that now
and about Being Human? such a fab season

mellow2 · 25/02/2010 07:40

Steppie - Hope you feel better. I was bedridden myself for 3 days with a cold after meet-up on Friday.

Copper- Hope ds2 is better.

SushiMummy · 25/02/2010 08:11

Hello everyone!

V quick question - does anyone know a good dentist (with kids) in Kew/Richmond? I just spotted brown bits in one of his teeth (argh!).
