Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

Dusty - sorry to hear about friend's dh and hard week. It's hard when everything is new. But it'll soon get easier.

I haven't been keeping up with posts but do you have relatives nearby?

Tilly - Hope ds2 is better soon.

mellow2 · 19/02/2010 07:34

It's raining outside. Are we still going to Kew Garden or do we have a back-up option?

sfxmum · 19/02/2010 08:50

good morning all

dusty how awful for your friend I hope she knows for sure soon
hope next week is better for you at work

mellow weather looks ok, was bright sunshine a minute ago maybe it will turn out great, having one of those optimistic days

now hopefully will be there on time

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/02/2010 08:59

OK - we are starting to get ready now, so should be there before tomorrow!

sfxmum · 19/02/2010 16:31

I am completely exhausted we just got home
nice to see people although not much time to chat, easier when it is sunny and we can just sit with a picnic somewhere

was dim sum nice?

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/02/2010 17:11

Hello!

Nice to see everyone, some more briefly than others! But remind me never to go in a greenhouse in Kew at half-term for more than 10 minutes. So stressful!

Dim sum was nice!

Kew - nice to chat. Well done for making it to the house despite wrong directions (not on purpose, I swear!)

tillyfernackerpants · 19/02/2010 18:03

Glad you all had a nice time

Ds2 does have conjunctivitis so we've been housebound today!

Dusty, sorry to hear about your friend, I hope she gets some news soon

OP posts:
vbus · 19/02/2010 18:05

Nice to see everyone this morning. Sfx/Mellow sorry we didn't make it to Orangery, DS1 wanted to go home by that point. Glad dim sum was good.

Had a few friends over this afternoon, very relaxed, nice start to the weekend

dusty - that is sad for your friend. I'm sure things will calm down for you once you're bit more settled

Tilly - how is DS2 now?

Off to Essex tom afternoon for my friend's daughter's b'day. Then another party on Sunday. Glad we have Mon morning to recover!

vbus · 19/02/2010 18:07

Tilly - xpost! Hope it clears up quickly

dustythedolphin · 19/02/2010 21:45

Apparently they neglected basic H&S procedures (he was a foreign national -Egyption)and probably could have saved him if they'd done certain things, which they didn't bother to do

Anyway, on a happier note, has it been snowing there? 'Tis frozen here

Am getting all the TVs connected Tues and am ridiculously excited about having UK and Irish TV [tho' of course missed all the big events on EE tonight

dustythedolphin · 19/02/2010 21:46

Tilly hope DS2's eye clears up quickly

Kewcumber · 19/02/2010 21:52

discovered something interesting today - LordCopper doesn't actually know where she lives .

(thanks for the play though, DS really enjoyed it}

sfxmum · 20/02/2010 14:34

good grief status on MN

running out of steam don't like outings at weekend all too busy but looks to nice out

already eaten too many biscuits

sfxmum · 20/02/2010 14:48

dd at hairdresser yesterday

  • is that nice now?
  • well actually no, I want a bit more off on this side and that side, it will be prettier
- after reluctantly cutting a bit more as requested -better now? oh yes than you much better
sfxmum · 20/02/2010 14:49

meant thank you

UptoapointLordCopper · 20/02/2010 17:05

Ah but Kew, we all made it to the same place though, didn't we?

Went out for a small outing on my own. Need brain-dead time now and then. Got book on origami and a few second-hand detective novels, including Edgar Allan Poe's murders in the Rue Morgue. . Not a bad find. Hopefully I'll be less scared by it then I was 20 years ago.

stepfordwife · 21/02/2010 13:01

hello all
hope you're having a lovely weekend

dusty - that's so sad about your friend's husband. how dreadful for her.

fab to see some of you at kew last week. can't believe half-term is over, already. seriously weary of my cough and snot-fest now! but have got a shed-load of work to get through this week, so tough!

also at some point should tidy/clean the house as in a hasty budget exercise, no longer have a cleaner, with dh muttering that means weekends will be taken up trying to clean and bickering over who's done more...he's got a point!

missed eastenders live show as drinking wine with my friend next door..might watch the repeat (not the same i know) as some of the fluffs sound amusing.
toodlepip

dustythedolphin · 21/02/2010 22:08

oh have you sacked the cleaner then Steppie ?

When we arrived in Ireland I was shocked to discover that a cleaner here costs E15 per hour ('cos no one Irish wants to clean other ppl's dirt and there aren't as many slightly illegal foreign nationals either)!!! So no cleaner for moi either...

SFX that's so funny I can just imagine your DD saying that!

Steppy hope you recover, I've got the lurgie too but just having to plod on in a haze of LemsipMax & Ibuprophen...

Cooked dinner for the neighbours last night, which was nice

Kewcumber · 21/02/2010 22:17

and as steppie "lost" her, I took her in and I have to say she's been great so far - tidies like a demon and cleans OK.

vbus · 22/02/2010 10:35

Morning

have booked Kew swing tickets

Steppie - thanks for mag, fame at last! Hope you feel better soon

vbus · 22/02/2010 10:35

Dusty - - hope you're feeling better too

sfxmum · 22/02/2010 12:26

hello all

steppie and dusty hope you are feeling better today

pcW hope things are not too difficult atm

snowing outside and still half term until Wednesday

I think I need one solo shopping day after this dh has been working non stop long hrs since the previous Sunday, he is quite tired too obviously

any idea where I can get decent shoes at reasonable prices? I am a boots girl mostly but think I need a couple of pairs for smarter wear

sfxmum · 22/02/2010 12:27

vbus what did you book for? we can only do Fri or Sat due to school but none appeal on those days

UptoapointLordCopper · 22/02/2010 12:54

Hello!

Dusty: at slightly illegal cleaners! Our cleaner is perfectly legal. Didn't know there are different degrees of illegality. Who's top of the league for illegality then?

sfx - we don't have snow here! Funny local weather variation. Pretty wet and cold though. I'm working at home with heating on and wearing four jumpers. I think I need my hat and scarf too.

I love solo shopping trips. Even if only to the supermarket.

DS2 has requested bread sticks. It's baking weather. Need warm smell.

stepfordwife · 22/02/2010 13:32

snow?!
