Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

hello everyone
how you all diddling?
having a pyjama day her as a) can't remember last day had one b) still got a stinking cold...

aaaaaaaacccchhho!

sounds really busy, dusty but, as kew said, a new job is so exhausting as you've actually got to prove yourself!
lovely you're making friends with your neighbours - good neighbours are a godsend, aren't they?

kew - i love beckonscot village - used to go there loads when i was a kid (yes, it has been open that long...) and have taken boys there..so must take dd sometime.

sorry, didn't hear your phone call on sat, btw, had my moby on charge. shame as i was in - working in the loft and, as you know, distraction very welcome!

have a a fab day, all.

Kewcumber · 14/02/2010 11:59

yes steppie has been open since 1920's...

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/02/2010 16:21

Hello all!

We had a good Chinese New Year's eve meal at friend's yesterday. Today we went to the Alperton chinese supermarket and managed to catch the lion dance. Little people claimed they were only a little scared...

Kew - how was the model village? I want to go one of these days.

sfxmum · 14/02/2010 17:03

hello

dusty a lot of what you describe sounds appealing and part of a big change hope the settling in goes well

pyjama day here too, dd asked to watch mamma mia then burst out crying saying the last song was sad is that a girl thing?

making crumble for pudding I think

dh at work probably until late, working next weekend as well as another 'going live' is due Monday week, expect a lot of stress this week

Kewcumber · 14/02/2010 19:20

sorry there should have been a comma in there somewhere...

either:

a) "yes steppie, has been open since 1920's"

or

b) "yes, steppie has been open since 1920's"

choose as you feel appropriate

Kewcumber · 14/02/2010 19:33

slng model village was excellent - I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would as did DS. It was bloody cold though - too cold.

I thought it would be a bit dull but we all really got into the spirit of things - spotting things like the burning cottage with fire brigade in attendance which waqs particularly fun. Nice small playground too rubbish food but we took a picnic and just bought hot drinks. Lots of miniature trains held DS's interest.

Definitely one a MN meet up one (warmer) day

mellow2 · 15/02/2010 15:43

Hello all,

Is anybody meeting up this Friday? I may take Friday off and come along.

Copper - Happy CNY to you and family!

sfxmum · 15/02/2010 16:15

hello all

and happy CNY
we had far too much food at lunch, went to a place in Teddington and it was packed dd stuck to duck rice and spring rolls

Mellow meet up at Kew on Friday I think still going ahead dd has been talking about yours a lot and little paddle too, both of whom she has not seen in ages

hope everyone is well

UptoapointLordCopper · 15/02/2010 17:09

Hello all!

We went to the National Portrait Gallery - they had a few CNY shows and they were absolutely packed. And we went to a Chinese arts and craft thing at the crypt of St Martin's and made strange tiger-related things. And had dim sum, and a variety of public transport, which is the main thing!

We are all exhausted now. One is lying on the sofa and one has taken himself off somewhere else...

UptoapointLordCopper · 15/02/2010 17:09

And Happy New Year Mellow!

sfxmum · 16/02/2010 08:22

good grief how long was this thing down for yesterday

my course project is now over, or at least the bit when I have to work with other people is Hurrah all done on time

wondering whether to stick to original plan for today given the weather and the child who woke up far far too early

anyway blueberry pancakes for breakfast then daddy can flip the originals for dinner pudding

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/02/2010 08:36

Nice to see we are back in business!

All damp and demotivating outside, isn't it? Have to go to office today, dragging unwilling child along. Much rather just sleep and think about hols...

Did the no-knead bread yesterday. Astonishing result.

stepfordwife · 16/02/2010 09:27

good morning all
glad you've enjoyed CNY festivities
lovely day, eh?

ah yes, kew, steppie has been open for business circa 1926
glad you enjoyed village, i love it. would deffo be up for a visit some time.

why-oh-why, in half-term week, has dd been up and FULLY-DRESSED at bloody 6.30am when it takes cajoling and fishwife-esque shouting to make her get dressed on a school morning?!

she takes after ds1 who is up at 6am like clockwork. well, it all ain't conducive with a mother who is not a morning person..

both dh and i working from home today and bickering over who gets to keep kids occupied..i think i should take priority as i'm on deadline (ie; yesterday) and he's just doing his "normal" office stuff. did that sound dismissive enough?

have a nice (soggy) day, everyone.

stepfordwife · 16/02/2010 09:32

ok...don't really believe in the bribery system for children, but for myself, a different story.....
as a bribe incentive if i file my feature within the next two hours, i'm going to do some online shopping

stepfordwife · 16/02/2010 09:32

..er, better get my arse off here, then, eh?

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/02/2010 10:42

Finally made it in to the office!

I don't believe in online shopping myself. Instant gratification is more like it.

sfxmum · 16/02/2010 11:10

I like online shopping not trudging through shops and dealing with shop assistants is a plus in my book
still have been given vouchers which can only be spent in stores so will have to go to Kingston and shop but only during the week the thought of weekend shop fills me with horror

mellow2 · 16/02/2010 17:16

It's going to be a bit tricky for us to get to Kew. Our membership has expired. Anyone has a spare guest pass I can have?

I like both online and offline shopping-- online when I don't have time and offline when I do. However, I never have time these days.

Kewcumber · 16/02/2010 19:33

what time are y'all meeting at kew friday? I am hopefully meeting one of the adoption MN'ers but hope to persude her to come to kew.

sfxmum · 16/02/2010 19:46

I thuink it was about 10 am I have passes if needed, weather not inspiring but still probably preferable to crowded smelly joints

mellow2 · 17/02/2010 12:07

Thanks for the offer. That would be great.

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/02/2010 15:49

Hello!

Been out for a sunning. Hope Friday is like this too!

sfxmum · 17/02/2010 16:59

hello all

Mellow great will make sure to take some passes

lovely day at last, we went to my Pilates class where dd was fussed over the swimming then shopping then collapse nice day

hope everyone is well

tillyfernackerpants · 17/02/2010 21:33

hi all,

Glad everyone seems well. We haven't done much this week, been nice to chill out!

ds1 went for his first solo playdate today, all good. When I got there to pick him up, I was informed that he was too busy to come home and would have to sleep there

OP posts:
pcworld · 17/02/2010 22:04

Evening, all hope everyone is enjoying the half term break. Having a much needed 'rest' here, not doing too much, although did brave a trip to Ikea today and ds somehow came home with a stuffed rat which is alarmingly lifelike Don't think we will make Friday due to some family stuff that is going on - apologies as I haven't seen most of you for ages
