Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend

Has been warm and lovely here - is it the same in Londres? (probably nicer)

Am of Kew orchids etc, though saw the sea this morning on walk which was bracing (imagining what it would look like in summer)

Man-with-van supposed to be coming tomoz or Monday with all of our stuff (wardrobes, shoes, clothes, bicycles, Big TV, saucepans, plates etc) and am pathitically excited about seeing and having access to our stuff again after living like happy campers for 5 wweeks

Have had no TV due to Irish technical reasons (one has to pay a chappie to tune TVs and one is too mean to pay a chappie until we have all TVs here, courtesy of man with van) and gagging for ANY TV at all ATM

slng · 06/02/2010 22:04

Hello Dusty!

Pretty warm and sunny on Friday but back to normal now. Not too cold though.

Just watched QI. Always enjoy that ... The rest of telly is mostly rubbish. Saw a bit of vampire diaries last night and was horrified. And there's Ann Widdecombe on telly tomorrow. That's got to make you feel better about not having a TV.

slng · 07/02/2010 18:59

Hello!

Indoor softplay centre birthday party at lunchtime. Had to bake some coconut almond cookies to aid recovery. Now off to cook mega-spicy chilli chicken to aid amnesia.

sfxmum · 07/02/2010 19:38

hello

we had a very busy weekend
dd had earache last night and sleep was scarce
she is now in bed fighting sleep but in desperate need of it

hope everyone is well

vbus · 07/02/2010 19:52

Hello all

Sfx - hope DD has a better night and makes a fast recovery

Slng - have you recovered?

Dusty - good luck with the unpacking, bet you're itching to get your stuff back

Also had a busy weekend, all day with SIL and new baby yesterday. SIL not in good state as she completely overwhelmed by this parenting lark
Dh now in NY, I have lots of girly evenings planned during his absence! My bro visited today brought round Mamma mia (late pressie for me), DS1 loved it

sfxmum · 07/02/2010 20:09

vbus poor woman it hits us all I think best not to panic, does she take kindly to support and advice?

about dd she bounced out of bed at 7.30am saying her ear was fine so good day out with tired sleepy child, nothing short of a miracle, she is now fast asleep

slng we went to snakes and ladders this afternoon with friends it really is a zoo
dd went to McDonalds for the first time

dusty are you tuned in yet? you can watch telly on your pc too
hope all well

why oh why is the weather turning cold again

slng · 07/02/2010 20:35

sfx - did you go to snakes and ladders voluntarily? But play itself is fine. It's the party bit I don't understand...

vbus · 07/02/2010 20:37

Sfx - snakes and ladders and McD's all in one day Great cure for earache then

Re:SIL, provided lots of support & reassurance but was wary of giving advice apart from the things she specifically asked me about as she's quite sensitive. She was trying to do GF not v. successfully I told her to sleep while we were there as baby had been up every hr the previous night and she was wrecked. We bought everyone fish and chips so they didn't have to cook/wash up which they appreciated. I'm sure she'll get into her rhythm but I think she's just immensly tired and feels totally caught off guard.

sfxmum · 07/02/2010 20:49

vbus that has got to be hard and hormones going haywire just about now

we went with friends and their little girl, not for a party, dd was terrified of the long dark chute but settle in the under 5's bit

dh still at work

slng · 07/02/2010 20:54

vbus - speaking as a GF veteran if she asks tell her GF routines should be treated as guidelines only and also do routines for younger baby rather than "recommended age". We were always a few weeks/months "behind" and it worked a treat for us that way and even now boys sleep well and eat well roughly the same way.

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/02/2010 12:40

Hello! I've namechanged! Can you guess who I am?

Got woken up at 3am by DS2. He went straight back to sleep and I stayed awake. I wonder if GF does routines for grown-ups so they can sleep through the night too?

sfxmum · 08/02/2010 13:03

you did write on my FB page about that very same subject so not sporting to take a 'guess'

snowing again I crave sunshine

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/02/2010 13:19
Grin
Kewcumber · 08/02/2010 13:27

Given there aren't many of us with DS2's it shouldn;t take long to work out!

I'm up for meet on Friday of half term - any suggestions or has that already been discussed - everywhere is going to be jam packed isn't it?

vbus · 08/02/2010 13:41

Hello all

Copper - I think I can guess who you are, the early starts are a bit of a give away! Pity you couldn't get back to sleep though

Shall we meet at Kew Vic gate 10amish? As there's so many of us, it might be the easiest option weather permitting...

It was trying to snow just now at drop off, so cold but not as cold as in NY hee hee. DS1 asked to watch Mamma mia again today, I guess he's hooked!

sfxmum · 08/02/2010 14:05

be nice to see as many of you as possible next week, weather not promising it has been snowing all day on/off and very cold wind

we have swimming after school which means bus home late not looking forward to it

regarding my course and its current project, co ordinator boy is a text book 'how not to coordinate a project' it is all behind schedule and when 2 days after target date I pointed this out he got arsy with me
has now asked if anyone else would like the role, bless!

vbus dd likes mamma mia too but it is obly on my laptop so viewing is restricted

UptoapointLordCopper · 08/02/2010 19:08

but must put on brave face and tell bed time stories.

vbus · 08/02/2010 19:17

Sfx- sounds like your friend got his just desserts

Will be nice to meet up next week, let's hope weather improves

Looking fwd to going to Wales for half term too

sfxmum · 09/02/2010 11:57

hello all

vbus it is really more of an annoyance I really want this over and done with so much more course work to go through plus exam

upto did you sleep better?

sorry to lower the mood but I feel awful today was short tempered with dd and she looked miserable at school this morning
she has been saying since last week that she no longer wants to go to school, not sure why, maybe we just need half term to recover

stepfordwife · 09/02/2010 12:44

hello all
how you all diddling?
well, sfx, i treated my lot to my best all-snarling, all_shouting, all head-spinning exorcist mummy this morning, so i know how you feel. but managed to tussle them nto hugs and kisses before going into schoolgates.

but it does make you feel, rubbish, doesn't it? esp (in my case) you know you're taking it out on them because you're tired and a bit stressed.

luckily, children are ever-forgiving, aren't they? and don't be too hard on yourself - we're humans and humans have short-tempered, grumpy days and it's no bad thing for kids to learn that safely with people they love.

dd has also been saying she doesn't want to go to school - ever since she went full-time. do reckon your dd might be just tired by longer days, too?
have found with all of mine, though, that once the honeymoon period of school is over and they click they've got to go every day, they start saying they don't want to go!

having a facial this evening which really looking forward to, although expecting a dewy-skinned therapist to tell me my wine habit is dehydrating my skin..

stepfordwife · 09/02/2010 12:45

oh, might be around fri half-term, too, depending which days dh takes off and what we're up to. but may well come along with dd.

tillyfernackerpants · 09/02/2010 14:00

hi all,

Upto, think I can guess who you are . I'm like that as well, get woken up but can't get back to sleep

Kew for meet up sounds good to me

OP posts:
vbus · 09/02/2010 14:19

Hello all

Steppie - enjoy the facial, sounds lovely. hope you can come next week

Sfx - how are you feeling now, any better? We all have our grumpster days so don't feel to bad.

Tilly - sorry you're having sleeping trouble too. Glad you can make meet up though

Been on play/lunch date this morning. Friend lives practically opposite school but we still managed to be and only just got their before they locked the doors, eek

vbus · 09/02/2010 14:20

to be late

sfxmum · 09/02/2010 14:27

thanks vbus and steppie nearly time to pick her up plan to spoil her but she might have other plansrunning helped but still wish I had not lost it

she was telling me yesterday that she wanted to get cosy on the sofa and watch movies with me

steppie enjoy facial, are you paying her to have opinions?
