Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

vbus · 16/01/2010 10:20

Slng - thanks for recipe, how could I resist?! Will make today, wish us luck, hope it doesn't result in vom fest for kids

Yay for night out

sfxmum · 16/01/2010 10:31

hello all

so let us start planning night out here

hope everyone is well

dd got her first running shoes today, I know it is an indulgence but she loves it

soggy day but hopefully well spent

sfxmum · 16/01/2010 10:32

good luck vbus

slng · 17/01/2010 19:01

Nice party yesterday. Lots of leftover food so no cooking tonight.

Hope everyone is well!

dustythedolphin · 17/01/2010 19:58

Am deciding whether to keep DS2 or not, after what he did on Friday evening...

sfxmum · 18/01/2010 10:51

good morning all

dusty what did you decide? how are things?

hope everyone had a nice weekends

dd was very cheerful on the way to school maybe because dh is picking her up and taking her to swimming later

vbus · 18/01/2010 11:06

Hello all

Dusty - read your status are you speaking to him yet?

Slng - glad party went well, what was the occasion (nosey emoticon)? the cookies were sublime but sadly I couldn't get DS1 to try any so no more progresson my eggsperiment, back to the old drawing board!

Sfx - good luck with study

Botanist was lovely. Watched Frost Nixon last night, pretty good film

pcworld · 18/01/2010 12:24

Vbus, I have Frost/Nixon to watch tonight, looking forward to it. So, you would recommend the Botanist? What sort of food is it?

SFX, are you powering through the studying? I have been offered some more days at work but fear I will end up turning it down as not sure if ready to leave ds just yet.

Dusty - I was at ds's antics! And so you are mainly "enjoying" crusts of stale bread and tapwater for a week?

Need to get off here, am supposed to be having a sort-out although a large part of me thinks "why bother, it will all be a mess again soon"

SushiMummy · 18/01/2010 13:22

Afternoon all! Back from sunny Tokyo safe and sound. Hope everyone had a nice Xmas and a new year.

DS loved every minute of the holiday but also glad to be back at nursery this morning.

TheWorldFamousKewcumber · 18/01/2010 13:26

Helloooo Sushi - glad you had a nice time.

DS is loving his Monday afternoon at Nursery so much that I can see me increasing it to other afternoons over the summer!

stepfordwife · 18/01/2010 14:27

welcome back, sushi

dusty.....yes, any decisions taken on ds2?

hope everyone had a lovely weekend

got severe january-itis and very tempted to run away to a greek island in the style of shirley valentine....
ach well, a glass of 'lovely" retsina will do instead
disclaimer: unlike shirley valentine, i do not have a husband who demands his tea on the table.
he knows that is a futile hope....

stepfordwife · 18/01/2010 14:29

...and was it free for kids at the botanist, vbus?

sfxmum · 18/01/2010 15:43

HI sushi welcome back

pcW more work at least it is nice to be offered, but know what you mean

KC emailed you good to hear Gherkin is enjoying new nursery

vbus not seen Frost Nixon yet but can recommend light-hearted 500 days of Summer and bleak Fish Tank v.good English indie with my fave actor of the moment
Hunger was amazing too hard to watch but beautifully shot

did a fair bit of studying
miss dd

went running with dh he is fast but needs to work on endurance (dangerous words out of context I know)
also not taking my advice
it was fun, hope we can go on longer runs in the summer with dd on the bike

sfxmum · 18/01/2010 15:44

thinking Botanist might be an option for early dinner on my birthday do tell

pcworld · 18/01/2010 16:20

Steppie, may I please come along too?

SFX - do I need to start running? Are you still running, Tilly? Am wondering .... but how best to start and do I need fancy running shoes? Am feeling some sort of fitness and health detox coming on ... LONG OVERDUE

sfxmum · 18/01/2010 17:32

pcW only you can know if you want to do it and no you don't need fancy anything

steppie think for the first time ever, after coming to England, I feel in need of sun, must be the greyness after the endless snow
Sunday was an all to brief respite

am currently harassing dh to commit to a date for a holiday of some sort think I need something to look forward to

also wanted to return to Latitude but it falls before the end of school term and dh against taking dd out of school for 3 days I can see his point if she were older, oh well looking for some other festival, maybe Womad or the other one is Dorset

slng · 18/01/2010 18:25

Two kids dancing about like mad to very slow music

sfx - I would not hesitate taking my children out to have some fun at reception level. Especially in the summer. They do bugger all then. They'd probably learn more just staring at their toe nails. (Sorry very jaded ATM.)

vbus · 18/01/2010 19:27

Sushi - welcome back

I did enjoy Botanist, very laid back atmosphere, good food and v. child friendly. Steppie - completely forgot to ask if kids meals were free, good job Daddy was picking up tab! I thought kids meals were quite poncy but we all enjoyed the adult meals.

Sfx - you could always just pop in for a drink and see what you think of the place. defo want to see 500 days of summer

PCW - hope you enjoy film

Lol at Shirley Valentine type escape, what a top film! I want to try and go away at Easter, must start planning soon otherwise it will Easter before I know it. Also want to do a festival but DS2 may be a bit young still for it to be an enjoyable experience

slng · 18/01/2010 19:56

Forgot to say:

sushi - welcome back.

vbus - shame DS1 doesn't like the ginger cookies. But we don't mind helping you with them so post them this way if there's too much! Anyway I wonder if you could do them a different flavour. One egg yolk for all these cookies should be a good recipe to start experimenting with.

vbus · 18/01/2010 20:31

Slng - there's only about 4 left! The rest of us loved them. I made with date and poppy seeds as that's what I had at home. I think it's the date that puts him off although he'll eat dates on their own...I won't even begin to try and fathom it...

sfxmum · 18/01/2010 20:59

must try ginger biscuits love ginger

after years of faffing around I finally got the forms for the naturalisation unfortunately too late for general election
they might let me off the minimum req English exam but I will need references from people of good character

dustythedolphin · 18/01/2010 21:37

SFX we have major music fest here (google willie clancy festival) but during school time for you

Steppy

Am still slightly stunned at what DS2 did ...if he ever reaches adulthood, I will claim his entire first paycheque
