Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

dustythedolphin · 18/01/2010 21:38

SFX gald you lurve gingers

dustythedolphin · 18/01/2010 21:41

PCworld yay go running!

I bought supa-doopa-troopa running shoes but am too lazy shy to run down country lanes, through farms, but have done a couple of nice walks, has weather there been nice the lst few days too?

slng · 19/01/2010 16:49

dusty - has ds2 moved into the dog house?

vbus - that's very speedy cookie-eating! It works as well with raisins. What did you do with the egg white? Hmm... we are running short on cookies so might have to bake a batch ...

slng · 19/01/2010 18:16

An excellent and hilarious introduction to opera: Woody Woodpecker - The Barber of Seville

tillyfernackerpants · 19/01/2010 21:38

hi all, not sure what I've been doing the last few days but MN not one of them

vbus, glad you enjoyed the Botanist, will hopefully give it a go one day!

pcw, no I'm not running, I'm not built to run , am sticking to swimming & yoga

dusty at ds2's antics, has he been forgiven yet?!

Not much news here, have been trying to get back into study mode but brain is refusing to engage.

Ds2 not walking yet but he can now climb onto the sofas, must grow eyes in the back of my head!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 19/01/2010 22:55

hello

tilly regarding brain engaging am deep in my study and grudgingly enjoying it, until my annoying tutor put me in charge of a project which is part of the course.
I can just about bluff it on my own but co ordinate a group online to get something done requires more energy than I possess

anyway so how many of you are decent and honourable citizens and members of reputable professional bodies, would be willing to be my referrers on my application for British Naturalisation?

don't all reply at once

Pilates tomorrow

sfxmum · 19/01/2010 22:56

meant to read

'how many of you, decent bla bla bla

you are all deeply honourable

btw don't have to be British

slng · 20/01/2010 14:41

Hello!

Bad headache after sorting out home insurance. Do they really have to tell you so many things and are they always Scottish?

And we've run out of baked goods.

sfx - quite decent, sometimes honourable but trying hard not to be (new year's resolution) and not sure about reputable. Have you found referrers? What do they do?

Coordinating anything online is a nightmare. Good luck!

sfxmum · 20/01/2010 18:32

slng referees have to have known me for 3 yrs and say that I am of good character, have not committed genocide/ crimes against humanity etc.
yes I still need a couple of people, probably should be more sociable

about course am clearly on roll, last minute essay got me a good mark again, I feel guilty will try and actually study and do better next time

dustythedolphin · 20/01/2010 19:19

SFX Kew would be a good person due to her profession > I used to ask the hosptpital consultant who lived opposite for all that kind of 'ting. You can ask your GP, priest, solicitor or any teacher

Glad the studying is going OK and Tilly you'll soon get into it

Am settling into the job a bit here and its good, tho learning the roads in the dark on the way to and from work is turning out to be hard, 'specially when you have the locals speeding behind you, pressing you to pull over and ley them pass all the time

Nearly collided with a dog today down a country lane but luckily anticipated it just before it ran out

vbus · 20/01/2010 19:22

Hello all

Slng - liked the opera Just used egg white in some rice

Sfx - willing to be your referee but have known you for about 2.5yrs so maybe someone else should do it. I imagine they are strict about such timings wouldn't want to get either of us in trouble

I have become an aunt today, SIL gave birth to a big baby boy

vbus · 20/01/2010 19:23

Dusty - glad to hear that you're settling in well, despite near collision!

tillyfernackerpants · 20/01/2010 20:01

vbus, congratulations to your SIL & nephew!

Sfx, am willing to do a reference for you if you still need one

dusty, glad you're settling in

OP posts:
sfxmum · 20/01/2010 20:56

vbus congratulations the steep learning curve starts now

tilly thanks will probably sort stuff in a couple of months it costs nearly £800 so have to do it when we can afford it and not straight after Christmas

dusty glad you are enjoying the new job and general scenery, what is up with the driving? road rage?

slng the project only involves 4 people but one of them is yet to report am trying to get organised before it starts at the end of the month

sfxmum · 20/01/2010 21:00

and the Barber is excellent

slng · 20/01/2010 21:19

DH out tonight. Waiting for cornish pasty to warm up while watching Gordon Ramsey. What a silly man. Saw an Assam curry last night though that looks really nice - chicken with coriander and black sesame paste. Might try it as I have a bunch of coriander wilting in the fridge but might have to have ordinary sesame rather than black ...

Played the kids an authentic version of the Barber and eventually they realised it was the same music.

dustythedolphin · 20/01/2010 21:46

the locals are used to the bends in the narrow roads and just drive TOO FAST IMHO

sfxmum · 21/01/2010 09:48

hello

our boiler is not really working plumber not available until Monday morning, using my plumber so any other recommendations?
expect this is high season for them

slng · 21/01/2010 10:01

sfx - I have dusty's plumber's details but at work so if you can wait till this afternoon I'll email to you. Alternatively I've tried those big companies promising local services for gas and electric stuff in the yellow pages and they seemed to be fine too.

sfxmum · 21/01/2010 10:20

thanks slng will wait for details too rather go with recommendations the ones I used before were quite straightforward and I did not feel fleeced as it happened before

sfxmum · 21/01/2010 14:38

seems all boilers in London ere kaput
where are the plumbers?
first available appointment so far, Monday morning

slng · 21/01/2010 16:23

sfx - have emailed. Hopefully to right address!

sfxmum · 21/01/2010 17:28

thanks called him he might be able to come over tomorrow

slng · 21/01/2010 20:19

sfx - hope boiler sorted out. Ours went on the blink last month but it was a manufacturer problem so got Bosch engineer. Quite expensive...

Must go and eat my dinner. Fish cooked with sambal.

sfxmum · 22/01/2010 09:56

good morning all

here showers at neighbours, boiler man coming later but have been warned that if parts are missing it might be days

actually it could be worst
