Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

TheWorldFamousKewcumber · 05/01/2010 21:14

anyone heard from Dusty - can;t even get a response form her by text so have left her to it as Its sure she's swamped.

Hope the house is warm though. BRRRRR!

tillyfernackerpants · 06/01/2010 09:20

Managed to get to doc's yesterday, thinks ds2 has strained his ligaments around his groin. We just have to give him some ibuprofen for a couple of days and see how he goes. He is at least putting weight on his leg again though (and slept last night!)

vbus, glad the teething has settled down

sfx, have you seen the new BSG series starts this month? Not sure when but am keeping an eye out for it

OP posts:
CremeDeMenthe · 06/01/2010 09:44

Anyone know what the snow's like in Twickenham? DH has just left to catch a train there.

sfxmum · 06/01/2010 09:56

hello all

can't help with Twickenham sorry

tilly ouch hope ds2 recovers well and speedily as possible
and regarding BSG am stupidly excited just hope not to get disappointed, also keen to watch Glee on E4, not sci fi obviously and being Human starts S2 in Sunday Hurrah that is telly sorted
oh and have been watching nurse Jackie like it so far mostly because I like the cast

vbus good to hear the teething is easing

school run done am slightly bereft must keep busy

tillyfernackerpants · 06/01/2010 10:40

creme, don't know about Twickenham but west London only had a few cms, its still snowing lightly, am sure he'll be ok

sfx, yes also want to watch Glee. Being Human I missed the first series but am going to try & download it, looks good

Must brave the cold now, school run. Think we'll have hot chocolate when we get home, there are some advantages to winter

OP posts:
CremeDeMenthe · 06/01/2010 11:43

thanks tilly. i've stayed home with the DC as school is shut, and work is west into Berkshire, so most of the office is working from home. DH was pulling faces when he saw the trains were running.

vbus · 06/01/2010 15:23

Hello

Dh wfh so has been hogging poota all day! Nursery open today, have to go to Twick tom as DS2 has MMR jab, eek. I imagine it's ok travelwise although tom could be a different story, snowing quite heavily now.

Tilly - hope DS2 recovers quickly and is not in too much pain.

Sfx - what's Glee and Jackie? (Still haven't fixed our tv ) Like Being Human, didn't realise new series starting

Spoke too soon, DS2 awake 3hrs last night, well he nearly has 3 molars to show for past few mths of teething hell

Supposed to be going out in Richmond for freind's b'day tonight, will see have to see later if it's going ahead

Hope all DC are enjoying playing in the snow!

tillyfernackerpants · 06/01/2010 15:35

vbus glee, don't know Nurse Jackie though! Hope ds2 is ok

We've stayed in today, more because I struggled with the pushchair over the snow. I had to ask my neighbour if she could look after ds2 whilst I picked ds1 up from school.

And I've told some boys off for throwing snowballs at the houses. First time I've told off someone else's dc's. I was expecting a knock at the door from their parents but so far so good

slng · 06/01/2010 16:28

Hello!

We had great fun in the snow. Lots of snowball fights amongst us, and between DC and nursery staff . DS2 now in mufti (ie shorts and t-shirt - "I'm NOT cold!") while I've got two jumpers on. How is this possible.

But not much work done. Probably not much work done tomorrow either. How am I going to catch up?

sfxmum · 06/01/2010 20:17

vbus nurse Jackie is half hr on BBC and you can catch it on iplayer
Being Human starts Sunday

we had a lot of fun on way back from school heaviest snowfall of the day took us ages with all the stop start
then had traditional Portuguese Kings Day cake at neighbours house

am tired busy day

slng · 07/01/2010 07:40

Will there be school today?

What's a Portuguese Kings Day cake? Sounds very grand.

slng · 07/01/2010 07:48

DS2 is upset because DS1 called him a "knitwear".

sfxmum · 07/01/2010 08:06

slng LOL at knitwear

bolo reis or kins cake is a kind of panetone cake ring or crown shaped with lots of candied fruit on top, eaten on Kings day, 6th of January to end the Christmas celebration
any excuse for cake really
but it is a huge deal and people do it at work as well it has a couple of 'tokens' inside and whoever gets them in their slice buys the cake the following year and another the drinks to go with it

end of ethical expo

wonder if school on today the website is down and we were told to check it this morning

slng · 07/01/2010 08:08

Website!? We have to phone.

sfxmum · 07/01/2010 09:37

slng the website has updates daily and we get weekly email newsletter but because they knew the site was down for most of the morning they texted us

now for some study too icy to run

vbus did you go out?

tilly how is ds2?

slng · 07/01/2010 09:51

Text!? We had to phone. But at least they actually have an answering machine with a recorded message, sometimes even with a date announced. We obviously live in a different century up here.

slng · 07/01/2010 09:53

sfx - cake sounds good. Just been musing with DS1 what we should bake later. Running out of cakes and cookies ... There's a lemon butter cookie recipe that sounds marvelous, but how to get measurements of 115g on my kitchen scale that only does 25g intervals!? Would a children's balance scale work, do you think?

sfxmum · 07/01/2010 10:08

about measuring for cakes, or any other recipe for that matter, I am firmly on the camp of eyeing it

slng · 07/01/2010 10:38

sfx - you are quite right. Before I bought scales I used to use a measuring jug and just guess. Now I measure everything ...

tillyfernackerpants · 07/01/2010 15:13

Slng, could you do it in ozs?

sfx, ds2 is ok, still being v careful with his leg but hope its getting better

Our school decided to close today, about an hour after we'd taken them in , also closed tomorrrow. But they did text us! Can't decide if I'm happy or glad they're closed...

sfxmum · 07/01/2010 16:47

here school was open same tomorrow got loads done and hopefully will go to town tomorrow hoping desperately that it is not too late to book after school swimming for dd and my Pilates class

on the subject of after school activities anyone doing any? I don't really want dd to do the school one this term as I want to see her while I can planning on just swimming and hopefully music

slng · 07/01/2010 17:05

We do music on Saturday and swimming when we feel like it on a Sunday. Nothing on weekdays - at most have friends round to play. Friend's dd (y1) does ballet, kumon maths, language, piano and swimming . But my kids sleep early so time is limited.

vbus · 07/01/2010 17:56

Hello all

Sfx - ta for tv update will have to try and check out. How are the full days going for DD? Have booked a few trial classes this term, dance and a music one. TBH after daily nursery and the odd playdate/outing in the week, DS1 is pretty wiped out so not pushing it.

Slng - any more name calling?

Text saying school closed for rest of the week, DS1 built the tiniest snowman with my mum, cute!

My bro ended up staying over as he'd spent all yesterday at Gatwick waiting for flight that never happened so his holiday has been cancelled.

I did go out last night and got hammered although that was not my intention! Have not been that drunk in years, it was just one of those fun nights when the conversation and the drinks kept flowing only vaguely remember getting home and woke up with last night's make up on Miraculously DS2 only woke once and that was before I got home so my ma handled it.

tillyfernackerpants · 07/01/2010 20:13

sfx, ds1 does swimming & we might do a few taster sessions to see if he'd like to do one other thing but that's it.

vbus, glad you had a good night out

OP posts:
sfxmum · 07/01/2010 20:37

vbus you lush sounds like an evening well spent

and some blinking play dates I suppose
