Hi all, can't believe I have to start the new thread

Slng, lol @ ds2!

Sfx, sparkle sounds nice!

I'm having to bribe ds1 to leave the house atm, that can't be right surely

He had his nativity yesterday, all lines remembered though there was a bit of yawning during it

Vbus, shocking behaviour on a school night, I do approve

Well, school was closed today so the dcs and I have been housebound all day. Cabin fever!! But still, we have had fun and mananged to fit in enough activities to keep everyone happy.

dd is doing nothing after school (aside from the occasion playdate) until year 1, I have decided. By the time we get home from school, relax for a bit and have tea - it is time for homework, a story and bed. She is exhausted with it all. We do swimming most weekends. I do get tempted to sign up for things but will stick to where we are for the time being.

The downside with being at home all day is that I have eaten too much bad stuff! Hope that school is back on tomorrow so that we at least make it out the door!

SFX, cake sounds great!

slng · 07/01/2010 20:54

We have been doing non-essential journeys. Took DS1 to buy a belt to stop his trousers falling down all the time. Bit cold in this weather. Belts come in pairs, apparently, so DS2 is also proud owner of belt several sizes too big.

DS1 never asked for any activities apart from going to play at friends' houses. He won't even consent to swimming lessons - said he wants me to teach him. He did mention football for when he is older. I might sign him up for football things next summer. We are not sporty people so sporty things have to be outsourced.

TheWorldFamousKewcumber · 07/01/2010 21:38

did someone mention cake?

DS does quite a few extra's - swimming lessons on Tuesdays, Tumble tots on Wednesdays (Ma takes him which is lucky because it drives me demented), music and movment on Sat mornings and we go swimming most Sunday mornings. Will drop tumble tots in Sept and take up either mini rugby or Judo... or even both!

But then I have a child who doesn't sleep unless he's fit to drop and not always even then. If he's run ragged part of the day then he can just about be coaxed to sleep before 8pm!

sfxmum · 07/01/2010 21:48

wave to KC and how is gherkin these days and your good self? any more medical rarities?

the school has a few after class stuff like Karate and hula hop club which sounds great but she is not interested, in fact I suspect the only reason she wants swimming is because she likes eating at the swimming pool cafe

sfxmum · 07/01/2010 21:54

oh and the Wednesday PE is yoga which dd loves but given Waybuloo some of the children are disappointed they don't get to fly

slng · 07/01/2010 21:55

sfx - dd a girl after my own heart! We try not to go places where there is no nice food.

TheWorldFamousKewcumber · 07/01/2010 21:57

all is good with Gherkin and I - he is starting at your school nursery just for a few hours on a Monday afetrnoon and has loved the settling in sessions so far.

Has loved going back to nursery, though the stress of getting up and house again after 10 days is aging me prematurely.

No new health developments since the latest Vitamin D deficiency which is as yet untreated (strts next week) and bone density scan.

Other amusing development is that I volunteered to be a case study for a new ITP (blood stuff) drug which my company are working on, apparently they were so impressed by it that they want to film me being interviewed for use across Europe . Haven't said yes yet am still thinking about it.

sfxmum · 07/01/2010 22:02

KC oh go on you know you like it, and hope work is saner too
stress of timetables here too and not as much time pressure
glad gherkin is enjoying nursery fingers crossed for school too

slng the pools in the park cafe has been revamped and they actually have proper food now and decent cakes, not that cake is not food

lilac21 · 08/01/2010 00:21

Hi all, can I join you? I'm moving to Isleworth in a few weeks from Ealing and the local boards are a lot quieter there!

I'm 41, teach at a primary school in Harrow and have two girls aged 12 and 10. Would love to make some new friends (in RL too!) especially other lone parents.

slng · 08/01/2010 07:55

Good morning!

Kids running about like mad playing some sort of game involving wild animals and jet planes and superheroes and blankets.

School today or not!?

Our local pool has a rubbish cafe, but there are pubs and cafes and restaurants aplenty for our purposes.

Kew - go on, be world famous.

Lilac - Hello! I'm also in Ealing. The Ealing board is a lot more quiet. This lot is a lot more gregarious so I've migrated virtually.

vbus · 08/01/2010 10:22

Morning

Sfx - don't think I've been called a lush before

Hello Lilac I'm in Teddington with 2 boys 4 and 1

KC - go for it, Hollywood next!

I don't seem to be able to get Ds1 into swimming, classes fill up so quickly and I've not been free on the past 2 dates when you're meant to go to bunfight and register. Hence will try these other classes.

Well best get back to see what nutcase bahaviour developing downstairs

slng · 08/01/2010 11:16

I reiterate: I hate working with other people. I shall call it a day now. Perhaps we'll go out for lunch. Is that a non-essential journey!?

sfxmum · 08/01/2010 12:39

hello all

welcome lilac, am in Kew, 4yr old dd

slng go on spoil yourself, I think you and dh would be friends, so much in common

vbus got swimming but it is quite early have half hr to dash from school to pool

dd at school went to town to sort a few things out, so much done when no little person to look after

really want to run but had a look at the path and changed my mind it is an ice rink would end up in the river

stepfordwife · 08/01/2010 13:11

......too much to do
......too little inclination..
trouble is have submitted invoice before work done, so better move my arse

hope all well

vbus...hic!
welcome, lilac
i love in mortlake and have ds1, 10, ds2, 8, and dd, 4.

don't think i'll bother with after-school clubs for dd this year..she's got swimming lessons on sat.
and was toying with a dance class (really it's ME who wants to learn tap dance...what fun, so camp) but probably won't get act together..

stepfordwife · 08/01/2010 13:24

..er....live in mortlake, even...

yah, go on kew, do it. world domination (starting with europe) is so 2010, don't you know?

stepfordwife · 08/01/2010 13:26

..and meant yey...yah is so 80s yuppie....

eastendmummy · 08/01/2010 13:28

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year. This snow is driving me crazy, ds hates it and despite my best efforts for us to build a snowman he just cried when he touched it. So we've only had one little walk into St Margarets since Wednesday and I'm going nuts!!! I was really looking forward to getting back into playgroups and activities after the Christmas break but no such luck.

How many more lego towers and reorganising the tupperware can one little boy be entertained by. Role on the weekend so DH can come up with some new ideas!

Hope you aren't all going too crazy being stuck at home.

Is there any chance of a meet up at some point soon? I'd be happy to organise if people are interested?

sfxmum · 08/01/2010 13:36

hi eastend sympathies with cabin fever, now thankfully dd goes to school hurrah free time
hard to meet during week but we should really organise a new eve meet up maybe towards the end on January?

steppie so you don't love in Mortlake? so that we are clear, ok think I sorted music for Saturday morning, the recorder for now, hope she forgets about wanting the violin and we can compromise on cello at some point

dancing sounds great as long as it is not ballet, booked Pilates for myself start next week, can't wait

ok must study now

eastendmummy · 08/01/2010 13:39

And now it's bloody snowing again! Grrrrr.

pcworld · 08/01/2010 14:26

Yep, Eastend - I feel your pain. DS doesn't like the snow either - and as I have had dd off school (closed) for the last two days, it has made it difficult to do things that she wants to do - like build snowmen! Plus, we are all bouncing off the walls. Luckily we had some friends over this morning and dd is going out this afternoon. Just as well as ds appears to be teething - something is up, anyway as he is in grotty form. Yes, I'm up for a meet-up too, that would be great.

Lilac - hello there. I'm in Isleworth with dd (nearly 5) and ds (21 months).

Am looking forward to getting out and about tomorrow - just hope the car starts, it's been sitting in the drive all week! I might need to try and start it tonight.

sfxmum · 08/01/2010 14:57

is it wrong to be riveted by the Irish scandal?
goodness what if it was Cherie Blair with the toyboy?

off to pick up dd play time is over

tillyfernackerpants · 08/01/2010 17:53

hi lilac, I'm in Brentford & have 2 ds's, one nearly 4 & a 1 yr old

Hi eastend, glad you had a good xmas

Steppie, we all know you say 'yah', no point trying to cover it up

I managed to struggle out today, the pushchair kept skidding on the ice! Went to toy library so not so much cabin fever here now. I just really hope the school opens next week!

I'm up for a night out maybe end Jan/beg Feb.

OP posts:
vbus · 08/01/2010 18:00

I've been going out even though school is closed. I'm lucky though DS1 would spend all day out in the snow if he could. He decapitated his snowman today by accident. He wanted to feed him some snow on a stick, one poke too many and the head fell off

Tilly - pushchair on snow not so easy but at least got something to hold onto to steady myself!

Sfx - pilates class, good luck with it

Eastend if you're looking for ents for your DS, maybe you could persuade your DH to take him to Dad's playgroup at Teddington baptist church tom 10-11.30am. My DH goes regularly and it's men only so he'll be in good company. It will give you a break, or if you fancy some company you can come for a cuppa with me! I'll be on the high st anyway as have to get a few bits and bobs so just text me before 10am if you do want to meet so we can make plans.

tillyfernackerpants · 08/01/2010 20:06

vbus, yes ds1 always wants to go out too, but he wants to throw snowballs now!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 09/01/2010 14:16
