Forgot to say welcome Eastend. I have a 3-year old dd.

SushiMummy · 18/09/2009 07:36

Morning all.

Welcome EastendMummy (are you an Eastender?) and DollyDiamond (sorry, I've been meaning to say hi)! I live in Kew and my DS is four next month, oh and I'm a busy WOHM.

Great, Mellow! Yes, do text me if you decide to come.

sfx - great pics of mini-sfx! By the way, Catherine has left the nursery and DS is very upset.

slng · 18/09/2009 08:13

Morning all!

vbus - meant to say we use these plumbers, once for boiler service and once for unblocking drains and they showed up when they said they would.

Hello mellow!

sfxmum · 18/09/2009 09:29

good morning all

and we got to the end of the first week of school!

mellow hi nice to see you around. are you coming out next meet up?

sushi I thought she was not happy and she sort of got passed over for promotion when Karen left, I quite liked her

vbus yes that is the feeling I mean

really must get on and plan my end of course assessment my next course starts in a couple of weeks

OP posts:
pcworld · 18/09/2009 14:00

Vbus, you'll get used to it very quickly, we used to do a really speedy lunch and then a mad dash to school. Also, I once gave dd her lunch in the car lol! You could make the sarnies or whatever before you leave so that they are ready to have on your return - or in the car

OMG just heard Lloyd Cole on the radio! I used to love him.

vbus · 18/09/2009 14:34

Hello Mellow - Lovely to hear from you! Do you fancy Cheeky Monkeys next Fri then? Anyone else free? DS1 also has an afternoon place, I'm finding it's working out quite well.

Slng - thanks for the link, I've sent to my landlord hopefully she'll get someone else onto the case

PCW - Lloyd Cole Can't remember what he used to sing?!

sfxmum · 18/09/2009 15:28

vbus here used to love that song

id dd does not start having proper sleep soon I will go mad she has been the grumpiest ever clearly super tired and refusing to sleep

OP posts:
pcworld · 18/09/2009 20:06

vbus, I expect we'll be going to cheeky monkeys next Fri. We have only just entered onto the playgroup scene this week - ds loves it!

slng · 18/09/2009 20:50

Hello!

What nice weather we had this afternoon! We spent about an hour running about in the park. Hopefully that means children sleeping past 5.30am ...

Must shop for birthday presents!

mygreatauntgriselda · 18/09/2009 22:49

Yay the sun is back

vbus · 19/09/2009 09:31

DS1 is exhausted after GP visit and nursery, poor thing is still asleep and has been telling me each day he's tired. He's not grumpy but just over excited tired. So will give festival a miss tdoay.

I have lost DS1 brand new book bag Must've fallen out pushchair basket yesterday when walked home. Hoping that some kind person will hand it in, fingers crossed.

PCW - that's nice for you to spend some time with DS, glad he's enjoying playgroup circuit

Sfx - have fun sending off niece, another milestone!

hope everyone havinag nice wkend.I have the morning off as Dh away from 3pm so retail therapy beckons

slng · 19/09/2009 09:42

Good morning!

We might try to go and see Ice Age 3. It will be either 90 mins of fun, or 5 mins of "I want to go home", or just 5 mins of "I'm not going in there"... We'll see.

vbus - I want to buy bags, shelves, and pots and pans. I think I'm suffering some sort of retail withdrawal symptoms.

mellow2 · 19/09/2009 16:51

Sfx,
I'm going to Malaysia on Oct 2 so I don't think I can make meet up.

Vbus,
lt'll take at least 30 mins to get to school from CM so don't think that's possible. The furthest I can go will be Kew which may be too far for u on school days.
Maybe we'll try to meet on weekends or at half term.

mellow2 · 19/09/2009 17:55

Vbus,
Re: broken boiler - that's awful. We don't have heating either (new house does not have central heating) but we do have hot water for showers after a fashion.

I'm trying to wean dd off her afternoon naps so she wouldn't be too tired when she starts pre-school on the 30 Sep (they have staggered starting dates). She is having late morning/lunchtime naps now as she can't do without them.

tillyfernackerpants · 19/09/2009 18:11

hi all, have been v busy last couple of weeks so MN dropped to the bottom of the priority list unfortunately.

Ds1 started nursery school this week, and proclaimed his uniform was 'beautiful' . But he seems to have settled in well and is enjoying it. The morning school runs seem to be working ok so far!

I might be able to do morning coffees if anyone's around but if so, it would have to be in Brentford. I have to pick ds1 up at 11.15am so it doesn't give me a lot of time!!

Other than that is there any other meet ups planned?

Sorry for the lack of personals, am just taking a quick break from writing an essay so will try & catch up later!

pcworld · 19/09/2009 18:37

Hello, all - hope you're having nice weekends. Tilly, I did wonder if we might be able to meet in your neck of the woods one morning, let me know and we can sort something out. At the moment Mondays seem ok and possibly odd other days, we are settling into our new routine and keeping busy!

vbus, glad ds is settling in well although I think getting used to a new setting is tiring for them. Hope you enjoyed the retail therapy

Off to crack open a bottle of red

sfxmum · 19/09/2009 19:00

hello all

hope everyone is having a nice weekend

I think we might me limited to half term and weekend meet ups with LOs
dd is exhausted after school and by January she will be full time
life is definitely changing

social life of a school mum is apparently busy with coffee mornings and evening drinks already on my diary god help me I am just not that sociable

my studies are picking up and intensifying and I will be definitely looking for a job in January

it is bittersweet really

went to say bye to niece off to uni on Monday I can't quite believe it
am totally wiped out carting spirited child all the way to town and back

Hello all!

Kew - nice to see you briefly in cinema! DSs enjoyed the movie: DS1 had his hands mostly over his ears, while DS2 sat on my lap all through. Popcorn was a great tranquiliser. I enjoyed the movie a lot too.

Mellow - we finish early on Fridays so happy to meet up locally. Nice parks around too, but not sure about indoor places apart from home...

sfx - where is niece off to? Must be strange ...

pc - I already have a bottle of Bordeaux open.

tillyfernackerpants · 19/09/2009 19:34

Damn, I have no wine in the house

Anyone fancy doing the MN xmas meet up?

sfxmum · 19/09/2009 19:55

slng she is off to Nottingham she is slightly over her disappointment of not getting into Edinburgh

tilly I always think I might go but never quite manage to master the will maybe this year

dh bough some nice Cava, he is celebrating something so will break my dry spell for that one

OP posts:
slng · 19/09/2009 20:47

Am half watching LOTR. Can't stand the lead hobbit. So wet.

sfx - Nottingham perfectly reputable, is it not? DH Lawrence and all that.

Let's do our own Xmas meet.

sfxmum · 19/09/2009 21:16

slng we have notoriously failed to do a Christmas meet up for 3 years running

yes head Hobbit very hobbity but Viggo makes up for it

OP posts:
slng · 20/09/2009 09:04

Good morning!

DH off to do something related to that skyride thing. Minibeasts gallumping around upstairs. We are doing Madhur Jaffrey style roast chicken for lunch. May even try making paratha.

BUT MN christmas meet is in NOVEMBER! Can't have that, surely?

eastendmummy · 20/09/2009 19:29

Hi everyone

Sorry for late reply but I haven't had chance to get on the computer this weekend. Thanks to you all for your warm welcome to the area and recommendations for things to do!

pcworld/vbus - we actually went to Monkey Music on Friday which is also at St Stephens but just did a trial class. I will look at Cheeky Monkeys as I can't decide whether to stick with Monkey Music. My ds is at CM Mondays and Tuesdays but it would be lovely to meet up as we're near to you - I'll look at Bus Stop too as I haven't heard of that yet.

It would be plan an outing - how do we go about contacting each other in RL?

Despite my screen name, I'm not a real eastender although lived there for 5 years and my son will be able to say that he's officially a cockney, but I'm actually from Nottingham.

I'm looking forward to meeting as many as you as possible in RL and hope to come to the next meet up.

sfxmum · 21/09/2009 13:50

hello everyone

any decisions on meet up? could do with an evening out and a good laugh

eastentmum - we usually arrange a meet up via here then share details later or FB

busy start to the week need a rest already
hope everyone is well
