back from over 24hrs with no internet accesshorrid I tell you

hope school first days went well

auntie dh told me you had a train enthusiast in your hands

here the vaccines yes two, went ok
today the first day of school there was great excitement, we both took her and she declared we were not allowed inside and as soon as she saw the teacher she ran after her, not so much as a backward glance after I made her kiss me
apparently had a great day doing 'nothing'

pics on FB shortly dh is getting enthusiastic at that like his father

Hello!

sfx - fab pictures on FB! No internet access . Last time that happened I felt so blinded that I even thought I wouldn't know what the weather was like, despite our house having windows and all. Never done ebay either. Good luck.

So tired... Day off tomorrow and going to Chinatown for a spot of lunch with DS2. Anyone else? I would enjoy it so much more if I didn't have about a million things at work ...

SushiMummy · 17/09/2009 07:50

Good morning all!

Glad to hear DCs have started school so brilliantly. We need to send our application for DS's school soon but can't really face it at the moment.

By the way, we are going to this festival on Sat, if any of you are interested. DS goes to Japanese school on Sat morning so we'll be there after lunch, I think.

Hope to see you all soon.

vbus · 17/09/2009 09:22

Hello all

Sfx -hope you've recovered from absence of t'internet.

Slng - Lunch in chinatown sounds nice, wish I could join you

Sushi - enjoy the festival. I may well go to Bermondsey st fest on Sat with my bro as DH away in afternoon.

DS1 loved nursery, he too ran in. Amazingly I have had a full account of what he did -purple hand painting, playing in sandpit, playing with police car and car wash followed by a dicscussion about animals 'mummy you could hide behind an elephant's leg it's so big' He asked to go there today straight after breakfast

We've had no hot water since Tues am, cold showers for me so pleased plumber can come this afternoon. Hope everyone well

Kewcumber · 17/09/2009 12:04

what a nice start to the day...

on the way to drop off at CM, DS kissed my hand and I said "how nice, what was that for"...

"Because I lub you Mummy, even at weekends and on Sunday"!!

Kewcumber · 17/09/2009 12:06

we are planning to go an see IceAGe 3 at Watermans in Brentford at 11am on Sat if anyone fancies it.

sfxmum · 17/09/2009 13:18

hello all

sushi good luck with schools, festival looks good

KC that us sweet and generous

vbus no doubt the truck made it extra special

slng lunch plans sound good

here I am just considering my back to work prospects, medium term planning
but this Saturday we will be waving off niece to uni, can't quite believe it

dd last time had a wobble and said it won't necessary to go back to school, surely! then worried about me picking her up, but this morning she skipped along and apparently had a nice day

OP posts:
slng · 17/09/2009 14:53

Hello!

Three trains and 2 tube trains and lots of dimsum and lots of pictures of horses and naked ladies at the National Gallery later, we are home!

Kew - very sweet. Very nice to be lubbed. Though not so nice to be told so at 12.30am, 1.30am and 2.30am last night. Will consult DS1 on possibility of IceAge3.

sfxmum · 17/09/2009 16:35

is it odd that dd is at school and things are going to change I keep dreaming about relocating preferably changing continents? is this a mid life crisis?

OP posts:
mygreatauntgriselda · 17/09/2009 19:20

Vbus have a peek on night out thread

vbus · 17/09/2009 19:31

Auntie - will do, anyone else signing up for night out?

Sfx - Mid life crisis? I think it will probably take while for you both to get used to new routine. Nice to dream though

eastendmummy · 17/09/2009 19:41

Hi everyone

I've just moved to the area with my DH and 19 month old son. It would be great to meet up with other local mums and also if anyone has any recommendations for good toddler groups to go to then I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

sfxmum · 17/09/2009 19:48

Hi eastendmummy welcome

can't really help with toddler groups but there are loads around Richmond kew st. Margaret Sheen etc

vbus actually am getting really hitchy feet if by Christmas I still feel the same I will start planning, this despite always feeling like London is home, it is the place where I have stayed the longest, maybe just need a long holiday or a year away

OP posts:
vbus · 17/09/2009 19:52

Hello Eastendmummy, welcome to the west end Whereabouts are you? Lots of places to go depending where you are I can try and fill you in. I'm in Teddington so mostly know places here or in Twickenham

Sfx - LOl at hitchy feet! DH & I have already decided that when kids are older we're becoing grey nomads

BTW plumber spent all afternoon here and couldn't fix boiler, so still no heating or hot water

sfxmum · 17/09/2009 19:57

oh no how long has it been? vbus that is awful

OP posts:
eastendmummy · 17/09/2009 20:00

Thanks for the welcome sfxmum and vbus!

We're in St Margarets but I'm happy to travel a bit for good groups. I know that there are things like Gymboree which I used to go to over in east london, but any other good ideas would be very welcome. We're enjoying exploring the area and loving Marble Hill and Bushy Parks but feels a little odd going by myself so if anyone fancies coming with me then let me know.

pcworld · 17/09/2009 20:24

Welcome Eastendmummy - I'm near you and this morning we tried Bus Stop at St Stephen's church, Marble Hill - it was v good. I have one dd who has just started reception and 17 month old ds. Also, Cheeky Monkeys, also at St Stephen's church, is on Tues and Friday mornings if you fancy trying that with us sometime? Vbus might come with us if you are free? I can't remember which nursery slot your ds has! {{confused emoticon}} Also, eastend, there is a fabulous playgroup on a Weds morning at All Souls in St Margs - starts at 10am but gets verrrrry busy so you need to get there early.

SFX, I have been having a mid-life crisis for nigh-on 4 years now, welcome to the club!

sfxmum · 17/09/2009 20:38

so what does one do in a proper mid life crisis? do we get to leer at pretty boys?
take up unsuitable pursuits?

OP posts:
pcworld · 17/09/2009 20:40

First one sounds good, any suggestions re the pursuits? Am having an ovaltine here plus considering early night {{middle age emoticon a la steppy}} so some sort of outrageous behaviour seems like a good idea, I can't continue like this

sfxmum · 17/09/2009 20:43

what we need is to go to some down and dirty gig perhaps wearing something made out of leather

does the Ovaltine taste of whisky?

OP posts:
slng · 17/09/2009 20:55

Hello all (and welcome Eastendmummy)!

Working and watching Masterchef at the same time ... Critics are awful aren't they? Perhaps I should consider a change of career so I can be paid to be really rude. I'm sure that would be just the thing for a midlife crisis.

Eastender - nothing wrong with going places on your own (presumably with child too?) I took DS2 out on my own today and really enjoyed it ... Different story when we got home though ...

vbus · 17/09/2009 21:20

LOL at MLC pursuits and Olvaltine tasting of whisky
Not having a MLC but do feel slightly insane sometimes. On these days I just want to go go-karting & razz round at full speed

Eastend - I love Cheeky monkeys and yes I'll probably go next Fri. Still working on logistics though, I have not yet figured out how I am supposed to get out of CM at 12, feed 2monkeys and get to nursery by 12.50 PCW - please advise!
There is also Music Bugs in StMags which DS1 loved when he was your DS age. Love Bushy park too, maybe we can plan an outing

Slng - not got into Masterchef this series, come to the conclusion I really cannot stand Greg!

mellow2 · 18/09/2009 06:36

Hello all,

I hope you are well. It's been a while since I posted. It's been difficult to post as I am working in a Government office that bans social networking sites and it's a sackable offence for contractors if you are caught posting at work.

For those of you who don't know, we moved in June to Northfields and we have just started building work on the house this week.

I'm glad all the LOs are enjoying school. Dd managed to get a place in the nursery class at the school we wanted her to go to so we're pleased about that. She'll be starting at the end of the month.

Things have calmed down a bit now. I'm at home on Fridays now so I could come out for meet ups in the morning or after school on Fridays as dd is in the afternoon session.

Sushi,
We might go to the festival. I'll text you if we are going.
