let us see if anyone finds their way here

Sfx - are you going to watch NM? Enjoy if you do go, the break might do you good.

My mum used to make garlic sambar (like soup when we were ill, basically water, garlic & spices), sounds grim but it seemed to do the trick. rules indeed

sfxmum · 26/11/2009 08:41

hello all

how are the poorly children? dd seems better but still not ok, expect the cough will be the last to go

vbus yes I did, thanks tilly, 98.9% female audience, a bit of fun with at least 2 unintentionally hilarious moments, bless them they did target the hormonal teen market quite well

so glad I had a break might do some online Christmas shopping but I can only see stuff I would like for myself

hope everyone is well

OP posts:
sfxmum · 26/11/2009 08:47

vubs garlic featured heavily in meals for the poorly, recall some concoction with olive oil bread, oregano and garlic soup like I think it was tasty acorda

OP posts:
vbus · 26/11/2009 11:45

recipe sounds similar to what my mum makes

Good to hear DD is better. DS2 still got cough but pleased sleep is improving

How are the other poorly ones?

Glad you enjoyed film, will wait for DVD Still not started books Got a lovely copy of Fat Duck cookbook for my birthday which I'm now reading, v.interesting so far & the photos in the book are stunning

TheWorldFamousKewcumber · 26/11/2009 12:20

Poorly child much better today - in fact I am doubting whether it ever was swine flu because he has bounced back so quickly

slng · 26/11/2009 15:47

Glad to hear minisfx and minikew are getting better.

No school tomorrow for us - occasional day for Eid. Have to take DS1 in to work with me ...

sfx - linked recipe reads really funny!

Can't type very well - frozen fingers! So cold!

vbus - Fat Duck cookbook Any useable recipes?

sfxmum · 26/11/2009 16:05

slng it is a peculiar translation but it is hard to google for that as ACORDA means wakes up present tense or can also mean agree actually bit not in that tense and the soup, same spelling with cedilha

get some fingerless gloves , very fetching

OP posts:
slng · 26/11/2009 16:19

sfx - but it's my fingers that are cold. I saw the ones which are fingerless but have a cover. Are they any good?

What is the general opinion about mismatched gloves for kids? We have FOUR non-matching ones.

vbus · 26/11/2009 17:53

Fingerless gloves with cover???? Do they then become like normal gloves?
I say go for it re: mismatched gloves, no point in getting more only to lose them again!

Not got to recipe section yet but I'm sure you can make them all if you have a science lab attached to your house

DH & I have just decided to go on a date tonight to cinema, can't wait. But have lost my glasses so will have to sit close to screen

slng · 26/11/2009 18:17

vbus - they become mittens. Very cute. But can I afford to be cute at this age!? Will try to persuade kids re: mismatched gloves. Have a nice time at cinema. What are you seeing (or not seeing)?

sfxmum · 27/11/2009 12:04

hello all

vbus hope date was nice

slng I only ever saw those for children, would care if too cute point is if you like it

dd definitely better today she did eat something yesterday and is much brighter today

  • huge relief

have tutorial tomorrow but think will give it a miss and try to catch up with sleep and then reading for course
must fit it some running inevitably in soggy conditions it seems

OP posts:
sfxmum · 27/11/2009 12:06

that should be 'would not care'

OP posts:
dustythedolphin · 27/11/2009 17:47

Glad the Los are getting better

SFX what are ylou and DH going to see tomight?

Am planning to see the new Christmas Carol in 3d next week, with Ds1 and DD.. anyone seen it yet?

Went to find a house on Weds and had nightmare day: two estate agents stood us up (despite knowing we'd flown over to meet them), I temporarily lost my bag with passport/cards etc, missed the plane and then temporarily lost the new school uniforms I'd bought

I blame PMT

However we did find a house (though not one of the measley two I managed to view on that day) and DS1 LOVED his new school - absolutely loved it, which means the world.

DS1 and I treated ourselves to a McDonald's supper and then chilled in our B&B, with a bottle of wine (me), coke (him), plenty of Taytos and watching Dr Who

Phew am exhausted now and got a weekend of packing ahead of us

dustythedolphin · 27/11/2009 17:52

SFX I really want to run with you again, but I need to get to that shop in Sheen and get some trainers I can run in as MBTs not comfy for running (well that's my very plausible excuse anyway)

slng · 27/11/2009 20:21

Dusty you are really leaving.

Exhausted. Can't be bothered to heat up dinner even. DS1 came to work and behaved impeccably. Even tidied up all the train tracks at home on his own without help. It's a miracle.

mellow2 · 27/11/2009 21:06

Dusty,

When are you moving? Sorry I haven't kept up.

Will I get a chance to see you before you go?

tillyfernackerpants · 27/11/2009 22:05

Don't know where the week has gone, have barely had time to MN lately . Glad all the dc's are getting better

dusty, glad ds1 liked his new school, that must be a huge relief!

sfx, thanks for other night, was v entertaining! And yes, film targeted very well

vbus, what did you see at the cinema? Hope you & dh had a lovely night

Does anyone want 2 tickets to see Pinochio at the Watermans? I bought 2 but forgot I'd already planned something for the day its on. Its on the 12th, both tickets are only £6!

dustythedolphin · 27/11/2009 23:18

Tilly is it film or play?

Mellow - R U coming to night out?

Slng - I know - just realising myself

tillyfernackerpants · 28/11/2009 08:27

dusty, its a play

vbus · 28/11/2009 16:30

Hello

Dusty - what a stressful day but glad you found somewere and that DS1 liked the new school, what a relief. Will night out be your leaving do?

Tilly - ta for offer but have IL's visting that wkend

Sfx - been out running yet?

Slng - founda recipe to make at home, champagne jelly, still sounds technical though!

Went to see 'A serious man' which was brill, really funny!

Finally found glasses today after making appointment at opticians, DS1 must have kindly stashed them at back of utensils drawer

sfxmum · 28/11/2009 16:41

dusty - that sounds stressful hope the rest goes as smoothly as possible, do you have a leave date?

vbus - want to see that one too huge Cohens fan
I did go running this morning just before dh went to work

dd still not well but improving she spent the night coughing and is clearly fed up poor monkey

OP posts:
dustythedolphin · 28/11/2009 16:50

SFX am getting mega stressed here as I still do not have a contract/confirmation letter just the letter which says "job offer subject to references". I have given then FIVE referees and they are still faffing about contacting the final two. They want so many 'cos of Child protection issues

Am being asked by estate agent to pay mega deposit on new house next week but have no contract

Have told them I cannot proceed any further until I get unconditional offer letter as they have had the referees details for several weeks now

oh these laidback Irish...

dustythedolphin · 28/11/2009 16:52

ps move date shld be 1/2 Jan...as new school starts 7 Jan and new jobby 11 Jan

sfxmum · 28/11/2009 17:06

dusty - stressful indeed goodness never understand why people take such a long time chasing up references
exciting too new ear new life

on a lighter gossipy note

do you know about this Tiger Woods accident?
word is there were some reports that he had been messing around with some hussy so it appears his wife was not happy

the whole story of her running out of the house with a golf club to free him out of the car seems to actually be that she chased him out of the house with golf club and he crashed the car

sorry but I thought it was funny
am clearly bored

sfxmum · 28/11/2009 17:07

new year not new ear
