Good morning.

Have a bit of a cold too. And woken up at 4.30am and went back to sleep with very stressful dreams. Hanging about a bit as we've got a new temp. cleaner but going to work soon to achieve maximum infection ratio.

Cheerio.

TheWorldFamousKewcumber · 23/11/2009 15:15

oh bleedin' 'ell DS has symptoms of swine flu (just need to check temp to see if its high enough) but has several other symptoms, cough, runny nose, headache, vomiting.

Oh Lord. Keep fingers crossed that his temp isn't above 38

eastendmummy · 23/11/2009 15:24

Afternoon all. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Kew - I love your new name! Sorry to hear about DS, hope he makes a full recovery soon.

Sing - hope you too feel better soon.

There's some horrid bugs going around at the moment and I'm just waiting for ds to catch something as he's escaped so far, but I know it's only a matter of time.

We had friends to stay this weekend with their 10 week old. It was lovely to have a tiny baby in the house and ds was very sweet with him. Hopefully bodes well as our new addition due in April. Have 20 week scan tomorrow so really looking forward to that.

PC - it was good to see you last week. We won't make it this week but hopefully catch up with you next week.

Sending get well vibes to you and your little ones.

sfxmum · 23/11/2009 15:28

oh bugger no vomiting but cough runny nose headache not keen on light must find thermometer and v=convince her to let me use it

Hope all LOs get well soon!

We are sitting around waiting for Shaun the Sheep on BBC1.

vbus · 23/11/2009 17:39

Hello

Hope all LO's make a fast recovery and it's nothing too serious.

Slng - hope you enjoyed your well earned me time at weekend

Eastend - good luck for scan!

Not much happening here, fairly quiet day. DS2 sleep still terrible . Also 4th week without tv I did fix it a few wks back but DH fiddled with it 2days later and it hasn't worked since. Haven't the time or incliniation to fix it atm. At least it's been a heavenly Beebies free house for this duration

dustythedolphin · 23/11/2009 18:09

Kew how is DS?

Have you phoned for a diagnosis, as he is a high risk group, being under 5? I rang re. Monti when I think he had it and they saw him within an hour at west Mid hospital.

www.direct.gov.uk/en/Swineflu/DG_177831

Hope everyone else recovers, there is a lot of sickness around

sfxmum · 23/11/2009 18:26

Kew hope ds is ok

eastend good luck for scan

vbus hope better nights come soon

dd has perked up a bit with drugs hopefully she will eat something then sleep a bit
don't think it is flu anyway

am knackered thankfully dh brought dinner

OP posts:
TheWorldFamousKewcumber · 23/11/2009 22:39

confirmed its probably swine flu - he's on Tamiflu though has thrown up first dose (I think) so not sure how much good it will do... run out of clean sheets now nd washing machine not working! Off to mothers in morning to wash sicky clothes and sheets - oh joy.

You know when you've arrived as a parent when you catch your child's sick in your hand rather than let it hit the sofa!

slng · 24/11/2009 08:01

Kew - Eeeeek! How is he today?

slng · 24/11/2009 08:02

What do you mean "confirmed it's probably swine flu"?

TheWorldFamousKewcumber · 24/11/2009 08:31

well they don;t test for it anymore, they just run through a list of questions and if they have 2 or more symptoms with a temp of over 38 they treat with tamiflu. But of course it could be a differnt virus or a cold type virus with a stomach bug.

pcworld · 24/11/2009 08:49

Oh dear, poor Gherkin, hope he's on the mend soon. At this end, ds threw up several times during the night and I kept up with the calpol/nurofen/water. He got up for 20 mins at 6.30 and promptly went back to bed. dh has had to take dd to school this morning which has, of course generated huge excitement.

Kew, you did well to catch the vomit in your hand, unfortunately I didn't ...

dustythedolphin · 24/11/2009 09:01

Kew how is DS today, hope he is managing to keep some of meds down. You poor thing (both iof you)

sfxmum · 24/11/2009 09:37

hello all

pcW and KC hope yours are feeling better today

dd had a worst night no vomiting but temp persistently over 39 lots coughing and snot let us see how we go today

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 24/11/2009 12:19

hello everyone
how you all diddling?
hope mini kew, pcworld and sfx feeling better.

funny how doctors don't give a firm diagnosis overs wine flu as they're rarely actually seeing anyone! but best to er on the side of caution so hoe tamiflu helps, kew

colds and (hacking, yuk) coughing here. hope it doesn't develop.

vbus - hope the sleep improves. it's a killer when you aren't getting enough sleep, isn't it?

eastendmummy - good luck with your scan. the 20-week one is so exciting. did you find out the sex?

had a very productive morning drafting four, yes FOUR features, going against my cardinal rule of doing one thing (hopefully) properly at one time. but, hey, you've got to go with the flow sometimes...
now procrastination has settled in again...have been reading about how to cook the perfect steak...i'm a vegetarian FFS.

went to see mrs klein at almedia theatre in upper street on thurs. haven't been there for years and clare higgins was superb as melanie klein. there were obviously a lot of psychologists in the audience who did that really loud laughing thing to show they'd got the references...

i've always sniggered at that as showing off - surely a wry smile and nod will suffice - but my friend said maybe it was to show appreciation to the actors....had never thought of it like that...

right, back to work...or maybe i can read about searing tuna.....
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 24/11/2009 12:22

oh, and kew, catching your child's vomit is definitely a fave on the lsit of things you swore you"d NEVER do as a mum (along with sniffing at nappy-clad bottoms and washing faces with a bit of spit on a hanky...).
once i did a spectacular catch of dd's vomit as a friend was showing me her newly decorated hall...images of magnolia pebble dashed in carrots spurred me into action...

stepfordwife · 24/11/2009 12:23

swine flu, not wine flu..oh dear...

eastendmummy · 24/11/2009 12:35

Sorry to hear about so many ill little ones. Hope you are all coping with the copious amounts of sick (although potentially catching it in hand is going one step too far!!)

So we had our scan and all was fine. We're having another little boy which is fab. I'm so excited and it's great to know the sex in advance as it seems even more real. I'm hoping that it will help ds understand a bit more if we can now say that he's getting a baby brother.

Right, have my mum coming in a mo, so better put the kettle on.

dustythedolphin · 24/11/2009 13:11

That's lovely Eastend

pcworld · 24/11/2009 13:17

Ooooh how exciting, Eastend! Great news

Having a strange day, ds is getting up for chunks of 15 mins then needing to go back to bed and sleep. I just don't know what to do with myself!

stepfordwife · 24/11/2009 14:21

congratulations, eastend, that's lovely.
can totally understand why people find out the sex, although i didn't (2 dss and a dd, btw).
wanted a surprise (well as much a surprise as there can be with a choice of two!) and dh was adamant he didn't want to know...so could never have trusted myself with that information!

pcworld - what a pain! i know...do some interval training..(i wouldn't..i'd do interval magazine reading..)

dusty - stop with that broodiness! (then tell me how to stop)

anyone watching flashforward? i've lost the plot a bit (in more ways than one...phnar..) as keep falling asleep...

sfxmum · 24/11/2009 14:39

pcW poor poppet advise chocolate and book/mag/drink and a sit down

eastend that is lovely congratulations

steppie are you procrastinating still? am watching FF despite Fiennes boy being deeply irritating, far too much pouting/ looking constipated - plot wise am just grateful they are so far resisting some God intervention/justification

glad you enjoyed the Almeida sounds civilised haven't done that in a while, who played the daughter?

back to my book, the advantage of dd wanting to permanently be on my lap is that I finished I finished previous book, from half way and started new one today

OP posts:
sfxmum · 24/11/2009 14:40

speaking of interval training am twitching as have not run in 2 weeks

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 24/11/2009 15:33

...oh yes, i am a master of procrastination, my friend..
actually, doing all right today...just want to get on the best bit...invoices

..and you've made me want chocolate AGAIN!
think it was sylvia waites (might have first name wrong actually) who played daughter. hadn't heard of her, but she looked familiar and was very good.
yes, it was interesting - although melanie klein makes me feel angry then ultimately sorry for her.

made a change from my usual fodder of sleb mags/home mags/any mags anyway!

yes, you must be itching to run
