Hello! Had a nice relaxing day shopping for 3 birthday and 2 christmas presents. Also ordered next size car seat for DS2. Makes a nice change from work!

dustythedolphin · 12/11/2009 20:48

What's a "mosh pit"? have a missed a night out or something?

SFX hope you have dried off now, hate getting soaked

DS2 is having mega toddler tantrums in public places. Last time (yesterday) I walked away and a Mum congratulated me on my calmness

slng · 12/11/2009 20:56

Dusty did you find any chocolate? I'm going for some now, my third pudding ...

pcworld · 12/11/2009 21:09

Sing - glad to hear you had a nice day, it was much needed eh?

Dusty - I cannot believe you don't know what a mosh pit is I understand about the chocolate and really, the only way you will relax is by going out and getting some (which is what I did last night!).

tillyfernackerpants · 12/11/2009 21:28

Dusty, or at least send dh out for it

Ah yes, mosh pits, I've been in a few in my time. Even crowd surfed on one memorable occasion

Slng, glad you've had relaxing day

Felt a bit bad at school today, one of the mums invited ds1 round for a playdate after school, she named about 3 dates and I couldn't do any of them . Just seem to be getting so booked up, but its all ds1's social life

sfxmum · 13/11/2009 09:42

hello all

dusty is the calm due to experience? did you get some chocolate

slng shopping and pudding sounds good

tilly am avoiding play dates by not talking to people, am sure am getting a reputation but just can't be bothered, having said that we do have one today

pcW am going on a chocolate mission on Sunday I go for months without eating any but like to have some nice dark one once in a while preferably with chilli

had a nice loud time last night but was in bed by 12.30 not quite mosh pit but near enough

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 13/11/2009 10:59

ahhh, mosh pits, have known a few......those were the days...couldn't crowd surf now, would do someone an injury

how you all diddling?

sfx, you've made me want montezuma dark choc with chilli now..

dusty - have you made a decision of job offers? was oter one from bloke you didn't like or is there yet ANOTHER job offer?

life that tad too hectic at steppie towers on deadline fr some work and MIL arrives from oz on sunday...trouble is the loft (her room) is in a state of chaos:
a) got loads of my ma's stuff in boxes which i'm not ready to sort through yet (a lot of it is my stuff to be honest, loads of school books. must say, depressing to note that i used to be much brighter in my youth...
b) have had to have roof repaired and work's been abandoned due to rain..and lots f tools hanging around..

cue lots of moaning from me to dh about how we're such last-minute merchants and how we've really got to get a grip
and breathe....
sorry to rant on, well done for getting this far..
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 13/11/2009 12:29

...oohh..but on a positive note got roped into being a a hair oooh-look-at-the-state-of-those grey roots model.
usually avoid these things (far happier being on the other side) but couldn't turn down a free cut and colour - esp as cut was by andrew barton (chappie from 10 years younger on TV).

Sadly the swish factor has gone now and the rain's making it revert to brillo pad type.

happy drenching, everyone!

stepfordwife · 13/11/2009 12:30

..can you tell i'm avoiding work?

pcworld · 13/11/2009 12:43

Oh steppie, how fab (re: hair, not roof!) - may we see a pic please?

vbus · 13/11/2009 13:28

Hello all

Confess to indulging in M's chilli choc a few wks back and have g&b's in kitchen for an 'emergency'

PCW & Eastend - thanks for lovely morning, nice to meet you at last

Steppie - well done on bagging a fab freebie hairdo, yes piccie please. Hope all goes well with MIL's visit

Sfx - disappointed you're didn't get stuck into moshpit but glad you had good time

Slng - well done on demolishing 3 pudding, I am about to have yet more cake, it is the last piece on honest

Tilly - IKWYM about turning down offers, only a certain amount of sociability permitted without the week getting too mental

Guess who didn't check school calendar? It is fancy dress today. 1st I knew about it was when I dropped off DS1 and we saw his pals & teachers all dressed up I just told the teacher that DS1 didn't want to wear his outfit (obviously nothing to do with not knowing about it)

Better pack for Wales, heading off tonight for b'day wkend

dustythedolphin · 13/11/2009 14:30

Oooh a new hair do Steppy - yes pics please!!

OK why has no one explained what a mosh pit iis? Everyone know except moi..

Steppy no wasn't texting man but another job offer: much closer, much more dosh and flexible working. Got formal offer today after they did references, but am feeling very sad about not being able to do Galway one (too far away and not enough money and no flexible working)and plucking up courage to call and tell them

Yes got Tescos to deliver choccy lol!! Now have mega supply - is there a "getting chubbier" emoticon?

tillyfernackerpants · 13/11/2009 14:56

vbus, good luck with the birthday weekend, hope its lots of fun!

dusty - mosh pit definition, mosh pit & stage diving videos.

Steppie, lucky you with free haircut, photos please!!

sfxmum · 13/11/2009 15:07

hi all

steppie was very close to you today felt tempted to go and check new do how is that for distractions

dophin so now you know moshing must be done at least once in your life
think most memorable for me was Reading circa 96 Rage Against the machine lots of bruises

vbus I was by the barrier on the side of the female toilets (needs must) so not too close but close enough and plenty of bouncing and jumping 'Mon the biff'
and before dolphin asks here

lovely playdate now soggy and tired
leek and potato soup for dinner I think

and vbus hope you have a great birthday weekend

so eastend mum is not a big hairy trucker then?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 13/11/2009 15:09

vbus did you tell a lie?!! good grief
careful he might shop you just like balloon boy

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 13/11/2009 15:13

sfx lol!

vbus, they might have something there. At the halloween day at school, they got out the dressing up clothes for the dcs who didn't have anything.

We've had a plyadate today as well, fortunately at someone else's house so its much easier to leave when ds1 is tired! When they came here, I was desperate for them to go after a couple of hours

dustythedolphin · 13/11/2009 17:24

Thanks for the Mosh defs lol!

Now I know what it means I can confirm that I spent my teens doing "moshing" at punk gigs at the Marquee in Wardour Street (Mosh cred), loved being shoved around and pushing

Football fans used to do something similar on football terraces (but they would create their own songs)

VBus have a lovely weekend with the birthday celebrations

slng · 13/11/2009 19:38

at moshing. Being a shortie I tend to get quite defensive of personal space - would elbow anyone who so much as threaten to come within a foot of my toes.

Is there official definition of playdate as well? We went to friend's house to play too today and got fed lovely cake. But kids behaved like wild monkeys.

dustythedolphin · 14/11/2009 08:23

Slng Not sure about official def - we tend to think of playdates as when a child is old enough to go without Mum - sort of implies a bit of autonomy, but you could always start a thread and I'm sure someone would disagree with me!

tillyfernackerpants · 14/11/2009 08:55

I just call it a playdate as its quicker than saying we all went round to a friend's house for some lunch & a play

Really miserable day today. Dh is off to his parents with the dcs today as I'm doing a training course, am a little nervous about the weather & driving conditions

sfxmum · 14/11/2009 09:24

hello all

slng I usually use the term for going to someone's house who is not my friend for the purpose of child socialising

miserable weather but does not seem to be constant so we will go out, dh is off to work

dd was singing and talking in her sleep, that and dh's snoring just kept waking me up

OP posts:
slng · 14/11/2009 13:33

Hello!

What funny weather!

Had nice morning until DS1 decided to wander off without telling anybody. I told him off loudly in front of everybody. Was really very cross.

Going out tonight!

dustythedolphin · 14/11/2009 16:34

SFX sounds a wee bit noisy at night at yours!!

Have been traipsing round all day in friggin rain taking DCs to various sports/educational/social activities

I hope kids in Ireland don't have such high expectations... hmmpph!

Slng glad you were reunited with DS

slng · 15/11/2009 19:01

Hello!

How is everyone?

Our little shelf/greenhouse thingy blew over. Some plants are a bit traumatised but hopefully they will survive.

Had nice night-out last night, just pub and restaurant, like the old days!

Monday tomorrow.
