I remember the dinner before you went when you sat there trying out baby bottles and looking at snowsuits, not knowing if it was going to be a boy or a girl

seems like Gherkin has always been there

OP posts:
dustythedolphin · 01/11/2009 12:39

Ooh yes I remember the discussions about the snowsuits!!

Kewcumber · 01/11/2009 12:51

and the laugh of it was that I was inundated with snow suits and not one of them was anything close to being warm enough for a Kazakh winter. I had to buy a second hand local one for him. The babyhouse did benefit from the one I took though, they said they would use it to take sick babies to hospital to keep them warm in the car/ambulance.

tillyfernackerpants · 01/11/2009 15:34

Hi all, we did do a bit of t&t last night but only to the people we know. Ds1 had a great time at the party we went to though, lots of his school friends were there so parents just sat back & let them tire themselves out

dusty, sorry have no idea who you are! But welcome back anyway

Kew, I remember that dinner, I think it was the very first time we met as I'd just joined the thread! Can't believe its been 3 yrs already!

sfxmum · 01/11/2009 15:38

day of domestic chores gearing up for return to normal just as well it is raining

suddenly Christmas seems so near, time to start lists anyway busy month ahead

hope everyone is well

tillyfernackerpants · 01/11/2009 15:39

sfx, have done a little bit of xmas shopping already [preen]!

sfxmum · 01/11/2009 15:47

I don't think I am genetically able to shop for Christmas before December, but I do make and revise lists
I never buy Christmas food as we don't spend it at home
have booze vouchers from mine and dh's birthdays still to spend, my in laws think we drink more than we do, I expect they measure it from how much we deplete their stock over Christmas but that is the exception

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 01/11/2009 15:50

lol, not buying food this year either, we're going up to my mum & dads.

Tbh, the shopping is not normal, just something I wanted for dh that was on sale so grabbed it!

sfxmum · 01/11/2009 15:50

am amused at dh's shopping technique, he goes out on a couple of shopping trips by himself and gets presents he likes the look of, then decides who to give them to, usually I give him a request list for mine, easier that way

Hello!

Haven't thought about christmas presents. But have birthday presents to buy before then ... What we are thinking about is what to do for Christmas Eve meal. Current favourite is lobster ... though may have peking duck ...

sfxmum · 01/11/2009 16:05

after spending so many years in England I have let go of all traditions, the Eve there is more important and the meal includes fish and pork
also the presents are opened at midnight of after Mass, Christmas day is more Brunch type followed by leftovers all day

don't mind either way as long as it is with family and it is not like I would go to mass these days

Auntie, I didn't realise you were leaving your job - so what are you up to now?

Dusty, I think I know who you are, nice to see you back on here.

End of a super-busy weekend, also managed to squeeze in a night out although paying the price today!

slng · 01/11/2009 18:55

sfx - we are inventing our own tradition. That's the way to go!

Kewcumber · 01/11/2009 18:57

with DS's birthday on 29th nov it relatively easy for me to keep Xmas in Dec.

tillyfernackerpants · 02/11/2009 08:29

morning, hope everyone's recovered from the weekend!

Ds1 has an inset day today, so one more day off which is nice

sfxmum · 02/11/2009 09:52

OP posts:
vbus · 02/11/2009 13:17

Hope everyone ok

Nice to see you again Dusty

Auntie - good luck with plans, so exciting!

Been a good but busy few days.Went to Cambridge last week to see friend and her baby, both boys really enjoyed the outing. Sat night was great fun, couldn't believe how many people were dressed up for Halloween in central London, all v.American.
My bro came round yesterday so DH cooked up a big lunch and we went to Kingston for long walk.

PCW & Tilly - sorry we didn't all meet this morning, we had an easy morning given back to school and all that. Plus I'm out at a gig tonight (SFX - your fancy man is playing!) so need to save my energy for that ). Hope you both had fun

sfxmum · 02/11/2009 14:07

yes vbus I tried to get babysitting or someone to go with but no luck
could do with a bit of fancy man action

OP posts:
vbus · 02/11/2009 14:18

Sfx - didn't realise that this was the gig you wanted to go to. Actually, now I think about it, maybe you were about to tell me about it, but after you mentioned the film you wanted to see I missed rest of convo as Ds1 was causing trouble!

Anyway a friend who I met up with on Fri was going, she vaguely knows David Arnold who's playing tonight so she offered me a ticket. You can still get a ticket on ticketweb and collect at box office if you wnated to...?

sfxmum · 02/11/2009 14:51

not sure when dh will be home, he was back today after 3 days off following a major crisis, so not counting on early arrival

it will probably be a couple of songs but have been waiting 3yrs

hope you have a good time it is mostly comedy, I like charity gigs usually nice atmosphere

OP posts:
vbus · 02/11/2009 14:58

Sfx - what a pity will blow him a kiss from you
Looking forward to seeing fancy man, David Walliams as well as Kaisers and even Gary Barlow

sfxmum · 02/11/2009 15:00

go easy with it kisses missy he is MY fancy man

I think I just need a night out dh or no dh

OP posts:
sfxmum · 02/11/2009 15:05

vbus it would be worst if it was Robbie can't stand him Gary seems inoffensive and less self involved

isn't Shazia Mirza on the bill too? she is funny, my niece hanged out with her at the comedy club where she used to work, says she is really cool

OP posts:
vbus · 02/11/2009 16:38

Sfx - LOL, can't make any promises re: kisses
Didn't know Shazia was on the bill, she is funny.

Any update on xmas venue?

slng · 02/11/2009 19:36

Hello all!

Have a horrible week lined up.

Shouted at DS1 for about half an hour so a bit hoarse now. So fed up of having a fight over everything ... I'm so so so tired ...
