slng, sympathies, hope you're having a large glass of wine

vbus, sorry about today but glad you had a nice time, hope you enjoy yourself tonight!

sfx, who is your fancy man then? How did studying go?

pcw, nice to see you & ds today, hope he still had a nap this afternoon!

slng · 02/11/2009 20:29

sfx - one of those months. No let up at work till mid-December. I go a bit loopy if I don't get some time off now and then.

Just had curry but forgot about the wine! Must be going mad ...

sfxmum · 02/11/2009 20:47

slng much sympathy is it completely impossible to steal away some alone time?
go stock cellar pronto needs must

tilly study ok thanks pretty much caught up with reading after half term when I did practically nothing, but think will give this weekend's tutorial a miss

OP posts:
slng · 02/11/2009 21:07

Yes Spooks is back. Looking forward to it.

Am watching Churchill on telly. People don't speechify like that any more.

tillyfernackerpants · 02/11/2009 21:42

I never really got into Spooks! But I wish I had the way everyone goes on about it

Currently have True Blood stored up, waiting for a me day to watch it all!

slng · 02/11/2009 21:47

Spooks is the most unbelievable thing on screen ever, and I've watched ET. It's fantastic.

sfxmum · 03/11/2009 10:21

good morning all

spent the night shivering and with high temp, not good hope it is only me and goes quickly, have just been helping at school but feel like going back to bed
hope everyone is well

OP posts:
sfxmum · 03/11/2009 10:23

tilly about True blood I thoroughly enjoyed both season 1&2 , apparently they don't really follow the books which is quite good I think

but the Sookie character is the most annoying whining little girl ever, she does get a bit better later on but almost made me stop watching it

OP posts:
pcworld · 03/11/2009 11:42

Poor Sing, I sympathise. Can you book a holiday or long weekend away so that you have something to look forward to? Or maybe a weekend day trip, sometimes that works for me. And SFX, hope you are feeling a little better now maybe with the help of some drugs? What a nuisance.

Tilly, we enjoyed seeing you yesterday - and no, ds did not have a sleep! It is the same today with the early start etc but he is currently having an early (hopefully long-ish!) sleep in the cot, we are just taking it easy at home, sometimes one has to cave in.

How is everyone else today?

vbus · 03/11/2009 13:34

Hello

Slng - sounds rough, have some choc/wine/cuppa whatever makes you feel better and have some time to yourself

Sfx - how are you feeling now? Hope you get better soon

Never got into Spooks as I think it started when we were in Sweden, oh well yet another boxset to look fwd to watching in about 5yrs time.

I can't believe I had such a late night on a school night, got to bed at 1am , the gig was excellent though, I loved it still on a mega high
Sfx - Fancy man was simply gorgeous

sfxmum · 03/11/2009 13:59

vbus Swoon Swoon
and triple Swoon always say he is much better live bonus points for visible hands Swoon

still feel like poop want dh home so I can go to bed, might be a while, dd is having far too many mini choc muffins

OP posts:
vbus · 03/11/2009 19:13

Sfx - Just to clarify I thought his music was gorgeous I don't fancy him though He did an accoustic version of Cannonball, I'm not exaggerating buth the whole place fell silent as he sang, spine tingling stuff

So shattered now, going to sleep as soon as Tesco arrive have been which hopefully will be sooner rather than later

PCW - how is your holiday planning going?

slng · 03/11/2009 20:26

Hello!

Have no idea who vbus and sfx are talking about ...

sfx - how are you feeling? Hope you are better.

Any time off impossible at the moment, unfortunately. All I need to do is to repeat to myself what my "friend" never fails to tell me, which is that I've got an easy job. She appears not to differentiate between a good job and an easy one.

slng · 03/11/2009 20:27

By the way we went out star-gazing in the garden. Lots of stars out tonight, and a very bright moon. DS1 loved it, DS2 was terrified.

pcworld · 03/11/2009 21:18

Sing - yes! Amazing night out there. Do you have a telescope? I am wondering about getting one.

SFX - hope you are tucked up in bed and asleep, likewise vbus although top marks for having a life and staying out 'til 1am -

Sing - may I suggest a spot of on-line retail therapy for you? It sounds as though any me-time is out of the question but perhaps you can have a treat instead?

Have had 1 large glass of wine and 4 jaffa cakes - I need it - my day ended in mega-tantrums (both of them, not me, luckily!) and ds has been shouting and giving off for the last twenty mins. Am trying to tough it out as I have been up wayyy too much with him for the last two nights.

Off now to inspect the bookcase bleakly. Can't seem to get into anything at the moment and need to pull myself together!

slng · 03/11/2009 21:27

PC - no don't have a telescope. I have a planisphere and an amazing application on my computer that shows you exactly what star is where when... Still fairly difficult to figure out these stars though. Might get a telescope one day but not quite yet. I don't really like buying things online, though have ordered a few sets of books for DSs from Taiwan ... They have to weigh the books first before they can tell me how much they will costs!

I'm trying to read "the secret agent" at the moment, with a bit of "the wasteland" for light entertainment in between . Then I'll read Lolita. I've just finished AS Byatt's Djinn in the nightingale's eye. It's brilliant. I've been reading too many "light reading" books ... The advantage of "the secret agent", at the moment, is that I go to sleep really early ...

sfxmum · 04/11/2009 09:24

hello all

vbus saw a bit on you tube technology is marvellous

pcW regarding books well not much since the study seems to take up all of my time, maybe during Christmas break
hope your night was better

slng I always miss stars, you can barely seem them in London was telling dh the other day we need to go on holidays somewhere where dd can look up and see more than a couple

went to bed at 8pm dh did all the eve routines as I sat shivering in a corner, spent the night going from very cold to very hot, took dd to school but am back snoozing on the sofa

OP posts:
vbus · 04/11/2009 09:30

Morning

The sky was amazing last night. We left a friend's just as it was getting dark and the moon was just coming up about tree level and was so huge. DS1 was v.pleased to have spotted it

PCW - sympathies with tantrums and rough nights, hope things calm down for you soon

Slng - impressed with your reading, once kids in bed, kitchen cleared and few other bits and bob done I'm ready for bed! Wish I could fit in a bit more time for reading.

Sadly, Ds1 night wakings started again now he's back at nursery. He had a bad dream and woke up screaming at 2am. He's so revved up after nursery he's struggling to wind down and go to sleep despite being v.tired. Oh well, I suspect by the time we've cracked this it will be time for him to moven on and get used to a new routine

vbus · 04/11/2009 09:34

Sfx - good old youtube DH v.jealous that Simon Le Bon made a surpise appearance with Mark Ronson and sang Planet Earth, my fave DD song!

Get lots of rest this morning.

slng · 04/11/2009 13:02

Hello all!

sfx - I have half a memory of having seen the milky way. The stars we are interested in are altair and vega which are separated by the milky way and there is a story to that. But I can't see the milky way ... Maybe I have never seen the milky way??? Anyway hope you are better. I have a sore throat and cough that keeps me awake in the night too.

vbus - the list of books is aspirational . The rate I am going I'm going to save a lot of money on books! I generally fall asleep after about 2 pages of the secret agent, and then the next evening I have to re-read at least one page, so you can imagine ... Regarding routines, DS1 is still getting tired out by school, but the effect is getting more manageable. It's me who can't cope when I'm tired ...

sfxmum · 04/11/2009 14:59

slng the best star gazing I did was at sea and the other time was during a lunar eclipse with clear skies in an area with not much light pollution

dd got home with her school sweater covered in paint, number prints on the back, she told me a boy did it and she tried to tell the teacher about it, think will have to have a word with her

OP posts:
slng · 04/11/2009 19:06

Am reading about spooks while DS2 is yelling upstairs for me to come and look at his animals. Best go then!

vbus · 04/11/2009 20:37

Sfx - that is strange that teacher did not notice/act re: DD's jumper. Hope you get to the bottom of it

Slng - your reading style now seems familiar to mine, read a few pages then fall asleep

DS1 fell down the stairs today heart stopping moment but he seems ok, just a bump to the head. Must be the week for accidents as DS2 bumped his head at wkend, and also fell flat on his face almost causing a nosebleed. I could do without any more grey hairs
