mygreatauntgriselda · 26/10/2009 10:56

I have the same issue re parties, none for months then several Wednesday now as I have been made the designated Child Protection officer for my company and have to attend the Child Protection training on Wednesday.

mygreatauntgriselda · 26/10/2009 10:59

Oops - that should have read:Thanks for organising Christmas dinner vbus!!

I have the same issue re parties, none for months then several all on the same day!

Sorry I can't make the meet up on Wednesday now as I have been made the designated Child Protection officer for my company and have to attend the Child Protection training on Wednesday.

That should make a bit more sense

SushiMummy · 26/10/2009 13:23

Hello all.

Had very dull and emotionally tiring weekend (rant alert). Friends (well, DH's friends) came over to stay for the weekend. They are an anglo-japanese couple with a beautiful daughter. The Japanese wife is a bit of a control freak and she has very strong opinions about bilingualism, food and education. According to her, what I am doing for DS's Japanese is totally wrong and I should be doing, what I can only describe "spartan" teaching, i.e. not a sigle word of English should be spoken to him at any time. As for food, she absolutesly loathes Es (E stands for Evel according to her)and any sugary/salty food. She lectured me throughout the weekend and I was soooo relieved to see her go.

Sorry, rant over.

tillyfernackerpants · 26/10/2009 13:28

sushi, sounds like a tough weekend, I'm amazed you kept your cool with her tbh, well done!

vbus, thanks for organising xmas dinner, have put my vote in

Have just had a bit of an embarrassing conversation with the dr. Ds1 moaning & crying his leg was hurting on the inside, he couldn't walk on it etc, really upset. Ring the dr, by the time they ring me back he seems fine & can walk properly again, turns out it was pins & needles .

SushiMummy · 26/10/2009 13:40

Evel should be read Evil. Sorry for other typos...

Tilly - lol at pins&needles (sorry)

sfxmum · 26/10/2009 14:47

sushi what a charmer I think everything in moderation is best, forbidding stuff only makes it more tempting later
and as for bi-lingualism I hear the accepted theory is for each parent to speak to the child exclusively in their native language, but it did not work for me, am now making more of an effort and she will still have an advantage anyway

tilly LOL (past the worry)

quiet day today just short walk nearby

OP posts:
vbus · 26/10/2009 17:56

Tilly - LOL

Sushi - bet you're glad they're gone. Everyone does have their own ideas about parenting but no need to lecture someone else about it

Auntie - pity you can't make Weds but well done on new title

Also had a super quite day today, think it was needed all round

Kewcumber · 26/10/2009 20:23

ah sushi - some peoples function in life is to make us grateful for how our life is normally (ie without them)

slng · 26/10/2009 20:29

Hello!

Been at work all day ...

Wednesday plan - are people taking packed lunches? We might be able to make it.

Sushi - the cheek of some people! Come and stay at your house and lecture you! She's lucky she didn't end up in the casserole. Or did she!?

mygreatauntgriselda · 26/10/2009 21:10

Vbus thanks not new title but just an additional role added on

Tilly lol at p&n incident

Sushi you are cool I would not have been able to restrain myself from making a sarcastic comment

pcworld · 27/10/2009 06:38

10am tomorrow is great, we can do anytime from 5am as we are all up with various coughs and splutters Looking forward to it, let's hope the weather is good - we went to Bushy again yesterday and it was fantabulous.

tillyfernackerpants · 27/10/2009 06:49

slng · 27/10/2009 08:14

We'll join you at 5am too. DS2 has been told if he does it again he's sleeping in the garden.

Looks pretty rainy. Is KG plan still on? Picnic?
