Kc - that is excellent news How cute is Gherkin?

Slng - what's wrong? sorry I haven't started books yet, don't have enough to breathe atm

slng · 22/10/2009 19:47

Kew - this is indeed excellent news!

OK will try not to be in a bad mood. It's just one of those things that happens just to remind you how much you are depending on things to run just so and anyone not acting as the script prescribes just makes life that little bit harder for you. It's the proverbial straw. I am so tired.

pcworld · 23/10/2009 02:22

LOL Sing - surely not as tired as I am Hope Friday is a better day for you.

KC, congratulations! Love the pics, too

SushiMummy · 23/10/2009 07:29

Morning ladies!

KC - What lovely news to read first thing in the morning! It really brought tears in my eyes. I am sooo happy for you and Gherkin-kun!

PCW - How are you? Hope you get decent sleep one day soon.

sfx - the nursery is better in general since Emma came back a few weeks ago (with her lovely baby ). Well, DS is happy there and new teachers seem nice so we are staying put for now.

sfxmum · 23/10/2009 09:29

good morning all

sushi - good to hear there have been improvements and that DS is happy

slng hope you are feeling better today

pcW nights still rough? hope you get some relief

how is everyone else?

glad it is Friday think will take dd to M&S for lunch later or maybe Kew depends on both will be feeling and whether the painters are doing our door today or not, hard to tell what their method is, they have been on our floor on/off since last Saturday

OP posts:
pcworld · 23/10/2009 13:40

Afternoon, all! Sushi, that's great news regarding nursery

Sing - how are things panning out so far? Hope all ok for you today.

Tired here but kind of used to it, the show must go on and all that, and we are off to the school disco at 5pm, hurrah! I am going as a witch - ie no make-up!! - and loads of black. dd of course is wildly excited.

Purchased a .... pair of leggings this morning! Am laughing as I wore them first time round, I am that old - but tbh they are dead comfy and warm under skirts etc.

SFX, I took the dcs to Ask on Kew Green not so long ago and it was lovely, I think it has been done up? Love going out for lunch/tea on the spur of the moment.

slng · 23/10/2009 17:55

Off to the pub!

sfxmum · 23/10/2009 17:57

pcW hope disco is fun no wonder dd is excited, am considering leggings too

went today, very nice they are setting up stuff for half term week

have beef casserole in oven and bread in the breadmaker hopefully all will be ready at the same time

have tutorial tomorrow near Oxford Street so might go to a couple of stores but that street on saturdays is a bit much for me all those tourists and packs of teens

btw dd is almost convinced that she will be in year 1 after the holidays, I should have been more specific with my explanations

OP posts:
sfxmum · 23/10/2009 17:59

slng hope pub good

pcW last time I was in Ask was in June they had new management should be back soon it is a family favourite

OP posts:
pcworld · 23/10/2009 21:30

Sing - hurrah for the pub on a Friday night!

LOL at mini-SFX in year 1 already SFX, the leggings I am actually wearing as tights as warmer although am getting 80s type flashbacks. It'll be legwarmers next!! I could really listen to a bit of Howard Jones right now ...

Thought that dd would have a break from homework this week but oh no, we actually have additional work! Thought this wouldn't happen until year 1 and now wondering how to fit in, we will need to have a regular schedule in place!

Off to make a lemsip {{v sore throat emoticon}}

Kewcumber · 23/10/2009 22:17

todays trauma was that he was out in the garden of my sisters house (with her father in law I hasten to add) and ran after his ball onto the swimming pool cover which wasn't properly secured and went straight through .

Lordy I don't think I've run so fast for years! Only a bit shocked from the cold water...

He's only been mine legally for one day and I nearly broke him!

sfxmum · 24/10/2009 08:19

oh dear KC have you recovered yet? at least there was water and someone was there
poor gherkin what a shock

OP posts:
slng · 24/10/2009 08:30

Good morning all!

Kew - Must have given you a fright.

I can't tell the difference between leggings and tights. What's the difference? I wear the leggings/tights and very short skirt thing very often. While long skirts are impossible with LOs short skirts are fine ...
Though I have a short skirt that I was told was "cute". Not sure it's a complement, at my age.

Pub was very good. Then to BYO Thai restaurant. Very nice food. No hangover despite more drinks than usual. Phew! MIL coming over for lunch so don't really want to be too grumpy ...

vbus · 24/10/2009 14:46

Hello all

KC - how scary, glad all ok now.

PCW - how was the party?

Re: leggings I'm a big fan, DH keeps threatening to get me some leg warmers too All v.80's minus the electric blue eye liner I wore back then too

Slng - leggings don't have feet and aren't opaque

Sfx - good luck for tutorial, happy shopping

Went to DS1 1st assembly yesterday and shed a tear as he sang on stage So cute!

Enjoyed a night out at pub last night too, I think I earned my wine after last week. Thankfully sleep returning to normal, phew

tillyfernackerpants · 24/10/2009 15:15

vbus, how cute! I can't wait for ds1's nativity in December! Glad the sleep's getting better

Pcworld, I guess now the early mornings are just normal?!

Kew, congratulations . And on the pool incident, must've given you a heart attack

I'm currently hiding from the snack tin. We usually don't have anything in but ds1 had a couple of friends round after school yesterday so we're swamped with biscuits etc. Plus I'm on my own so its just far too tempting to have it in front of me

mygreatauntgriselda · 24/10/2009 15:40

Hello all, sorry haven't been on, have had a hectic week

Steppie Hi (waves)

Lotus welcome and congrats on your pregnancy

Kew that must have given both of you such a fright!

Right, off to look at the night out thread ...

sfxmum · 24/10/2009 16:31

dh&dd out and about am in danger on nodding off

hope everyone is well

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 24/10/2009 19:35

hello - took DS swimming and thankfully his unscheduled dip doesn;t seem to have diminished his enthusiasm for his new swimming without armbands. Phew!

I however may never recover!

slng · 25/10/2009 18:21

Good evening all!

Hope everyone is enjoying GMT. I did have a long lie-in this morning and it wasn't even 10 when I got up!

Kew - selected amnesia is recommended in cases like this. I have blocked out a few scary incidences I don't even dare to tell ...

sfxmum · 25/10/2009 18:50

regarding GMT dd and dh up since the crack of dawn, dd going still going strong, dh flagging
I slept until a decent hr, went running took dd to party

speaking of parties I seem to have party every weekend in November and December is filling up too, pretty much all dd's social life, but have posh book launch too must have been a stray invite

be nice to sort out out Christmas do as 2 more of our former members seem keen on joining us

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 26/10/2009 08:14

No lie-in for me this weekend, ds2 woke up at 5am! I ended up in bed at 7.30pm last night, I was so shattered . And it was our wedding anniversary!!

How is everyone? Ds1 was very happy to be reminded that he had a holiday from school, we're making the most of not having to rush out of the house in the mornings!

Are we still meeting on Weds?

sfxmum · 26/10/2009 08:43

good morning

tilly hope there are celebratory plans to make up for shattered anniversary
am still counting on Wednesday, weather looks ok so far

hope everyone is well we are taking it easy today

OP posts:
vbus · 26/10/2009 08:47

Tilly - Happy Anniversary, sorry it was spent asleep! Both boys awake from 6am here today (didn't anyone tell them the clocks had changed? ) and just discovered tv not working, how am I going to survive the day without Beebies ?

Sfx - IKWYM re: party season starting, the rest of the year is a blast with them. Can't believe I was invited to 3 parties all this comong Sat night, don't go out often and then 3 come along at same time...

Yes to Weds, Kew around 10-10.30ish ok for everyone?

tillyfernackerpants · 26/10/2009 08:51

vbus, 3 parties , how do you decide which one to go to?!

I tried explaining the whole clocks going backwards to ds1 but as he can't even tell the time yet I think it all went over his head!

sfx, I think I'll do a nice dinner one night, probably at the weekend to make up for it!

10-ish at Kew sounds good to me. Shall we meet at Victoria Gate?

sfxmum · 26/10/2009 09:06

10 good vicky gate good
