Tilly - that would be nice, let's plan to do that

Slng - WAKE UP!!!

Parents evening was good. The great love affair that is taking place between DS1 and his pal at nursery was discussed Glad teachers have a sense of humour

Hope everyone well

sfxmum · 21/10/2009 10:51

good morning all

vbus glad it went well

was thinking that playgroup suggested by KC might be hard for me to reach

regarding school lots of parents wanted to know what it is like inside the classroom and asked how their LOs were
so we all feel the same it seems'

another glorious day hey

hope everyone is well and having a decent sleep

eastendmummy · 21/10/2009 10:58

Hi Lotus, congratulations! I live in st margarets so pretty near to you - hope we get to meet up at some point. I'm going to make a big effort to make it to the xmas meet up!

Tilly, I'm from Nottingham but parents now moved to just outside mansfield. It's not really the north but according to dh who's from Surrey, as soon as you get past Watford, you are in the north!! Where are you from?

Hope you find a great place for meeting up next week.

tillyfernackerpants · 21/10/2009 13:21

eastend, ok, I'm a little further north than you, near Leeds

vbus, great. Will email you!

I've just rang and Lollipop is open during half-term so is that the best option for everyone?

slng · 21/10/2009 13:36

Hello!

What happens at Lollipop? Is it suitable for a nearly-6-year-old? We are contemplating the Discovery Centre at Bracknell... But I'm not sure yet if I can take much time off anyway ...

pcworld · 21/10/2009 14:18

Lollipop might be ok, depending on the weather but it could be complete hell if it is raining - they do not seem to place any limit on numbers! It might be a bit much for ds if there are lots of bigger children there as can often be the case during half term. Where else would suit you, SFX, in terms of getting there? Is it easiest to simply go for Kew Gardens or what about something else? I don't really mind but might be a bit iffy about the Lollipop.

How is everyone today? We had an early start, 4am followed by 5.15am and now a complete refusing to go for a lunchtime sleep! These things are sent to try us have just snaffled some of the mini-chocolate buttons from the "snacks" cupboard

sfxmum · 21/10/2009 14:45

do you have a snack cupboard? ouch early starts I think the worst dd fever got was refusing to nap nearly sent me over the edge on those 2 first years

the one KC mentioned involves a long walk which is fine can still use buggy but only works if not raining, Kew is manageable in all weathers I think

should we start the Christmas meet up thread?

btw for my colder weather running gear
will ask for spiffy waterproof at Christmas

OP posts:
sfxmum · 21/10/2009 14:46

dd is now constantly on youtube watching trailers for Toy Story 3D especially the one where Buzz keeps running into the screen she find it hilarious

OP posts:
pcworld · 21/10/2009 15:00

SFX, the "snack cupboard" changes from week to week - I am trying to hide them from myself!

Yes, good idea re: Christmas thread

What do people think in general about Kew Gdns for next week, then? I'm up for it!

Must do something useful in a moment - like go on the school run

Forgot to say, SFX, I LOVED the pics of Geoffrey and your ever-cute dd! All v funny

sfxmum · 21/10/2009 15:20

meet up new thread do post please

pcW thanks dd now asks to see Facebook mostly because her cousin keeps posting odd pic from uni life, I need to censor them first so I don't have to explain much

  • what is a pub crawl and a zombie mummy?
OP posts:
slng · 21/10/2009 19:38

sfx - tough questions. What is a zombie mummy? Or is it self-explanatory?

I think Kew Gardens might be more the thing for us at half term ...

Baked teacakes and bread and butterscotch banana cake. Yum!

sfxmum · 21/10/2009 19:40

is that what you bringing to the meet up slng? excellent catering

OP posts:
slng · 21/10/2009 19:44

I have bought a million bananas in anticipation of this cake and a caramel banana pie for the weekend, but only used two so far, so could do (if I feel like it ).

stepfordwife · 21/10/2009 21:22

...did i hear caramel banana cake?
ye gods, may have to come out of meet-up retirement for that...

Kewcumber · 21/10/2009 21:50

big day tomorrow - am getting nervous. If it goes OK I will tell you all about it tomorrow evening.

sfxmum · 21/10/2009 22:01

good luck my dear sure it will be fine

hi steppie nice to see you around

slng have loads of bananas too was thinking of making the breakfast banana loaf I made to take to the festival it was super delicious and not too sweet

OP posts:
vbus · 22/10/2009 08:43

morning

KC - sounds intriguing ... good luck for whatever it is

PCW - the non-napping but I'm very tired phase is so annoying, sympathies. Will DS fall asleep in pushchair if you go for a walk?

Sfx - for zombie post, will try and write something nice next time now that I know minisfx will be reading!

had a great day yesterday, went swimming in the morning and we had the whole pool to ourselves, yay! In afternoon we got Halloween costumes, how to explain dracula to DS1 without scaring him

1st choice would be to meet at Kew next Weds weather dependent. If it's raining, anywhere we go is likely to be packed next week but at least there is C&C. What do you think? Are we all baking too ??!!

vbus · 22/10/2009 08:53

Hello Steppie

pcworld · 22/10/2009 09:31

I think Kew Gdns will cover the different age groups best, shall we go for it? What time are we saying - 10am?

Can't wait for the half term week, poor dd is exhausted.

sfxmum · 22/10/2009 10:21

hello all

pcw&vbus happy with Kew
and btw if newbies want to join us and are not members I have passes to spare

vbus it wasn't you really, my niece posted pics of her zombie fancy dress pub crawl, slng just calls me up on bad grammar

got back home after school run, had a look at what I had to do, and headed back out for a run, far better for my mental health

auntie if you are about do let us know how the meeting went
and btw if you want to run on Sunday can we make it early?
have tutorial on Saturday and dh might have to work Sunday, if so I can only go before he leaves sometime around 10.30

slng · 22/10/2009 11:30

Hello!

Been to DS1's assembly. Performance was fine as long as you didn't see the script. The number of errors! >

steppie - it's butterscotch banana cake and pretty yummy it is too.

sfx - re: zombie. I see.

We are watching and reading a Chinese traditional story which involves A LOT of monsters trying to eat a person. I'm sure we'll cope with vampires and zombies if the subject should come up.

vbus - are you reading the books I gave you?

sfxmum · 22/10/2009 11:44

slng Catholicism is full of murder and slaughter maiming torture all those saints for the glory of the Lord, the Story of Christmas has a fair bit of that, not to mention the fires of Hell
the nuns used to love telling us all about it when we were at school

doesn't seem to have done us any harm

OP posts:
slng · 22/10/2009 18:29

In such a bad mood now - just discovered something I went to quite a lot of trouble to get has gone missing. Just because I left someone else in charge for a few hours.

Kewcumber · 22/10/2009 19:01

OOh no - don;t be in a bad mood - today is a GOOD day!

here

sfxmum · 22/10/2009 19:08

so happy for you both, can't believe it was 3 yrs ago we were sitting in a restaurant as you got ready to go
