pcW&auntie thanks I just keep you apprised so that you expect me to actually do proper work, it is an incentive

Sing - I think I just saw your school on the evening news! It looks fab.

SFX - how is Geoffrey? I do hope you are keeping the noise down so that he gets a good rest.

slng · 16/10/2009 21:58

Hello!

You've probably all seen it! I saw it on the website. DS1 was in the playground, behind the talking woman, nearer the end. It's all very exciting. Apparently GMTV did an interview too. But what is the point? Government says it's all very counterproductive and disappointing because it's not what they want ...

auntie - have emailed link.

sfx - Geoffrey!!?? Is it a poncey bear?

We had lamb and spinach curry. Amazing how much spinach you can squeeze into a pot.

sfxmum · 17/10/2009 09:33

slng was that on the BBC? saw parents being interviewed but no children

and Geoffrey slept well and had breakfast and is currently stalking dh
and the name yes well it is West London

OP posts:
slng · 17/10/2009 09:39

Morning all!

sfx - yes BBC. Children not interviewed but caught on camera while playing in the playground. They seem to have different versions. Apparently earlier version had interview with head too about SATS.

Is Geoffrey featuring in "we are going on a bear hunt" yet? Ancient Chinese believe bear paws to be a great delicacy, on a par with fish.

Funny Times story about Gordon Brown's MN venture! Did any of you go on? Poor man. Why not tell about biscuits? Maybe he likes them all.

Off to cook more curry for lunch!

slng · 17/10/2009 09:42

Am very sick of people who says "I don't like to generalise but ..." etc etc. The word "but" should be banned.

sfxmum · 17/10/2009 10:46

it is a bit like 'with all due respect...'

am actually extremelly annoyed today so it will be a struggle to entertain child and stuffed animal must take deep breaths I think

OP posts:
slng · 17/10/2009 10:52

sfx why are you annoyed?

sfxmum · 17/10/2009 11:19

I just HATE last minute change of plans which are not announced until asked for makes me very very angry

anyway doing housework to calm down

had minor run in with Ma yesterday, there an indian restaurant in Fulham which is doing a buffet for Diwali and has decorated the restaaurant with lights. The buffet starts at 6pm so I suggested she/we might like to go (particularly as DS nusery has been looking at Diwali this week). Her reply...

"no because we will be the only white people there and they will wonder why we are there"!!!!!

Ummm well apart from the fact that your grandson isn't white and perhaps it would be nice for him to be with a pile of people who arent white for a change... and I hardly think that an Indian restaurant in Fulham is going to be heaving with Hindu's clebrating Diwali, aren't they going to be doing proper Diwali celebrations rather than "Diwali-lite"... and whats the problem with being the only white people in the room, non-white people deal with this all the time and seem to survive... and would you be peering suspiciously as a HIndu family eating Christmas lunch in a restaurant thinking "what are they doing here"?...

Shall I go on?

Quite cross about it and now want to go just to make the point... anyone fancy going out for an indian tonight?

Actually don;t know why I because I'm still quite shocked

Restaurant here www.thisislondon.co.uk/restaurants/article-23756654-get-a-taste-for-some-divine-diwali-dinners.do

slng · 17/10/2009 18:18

Hello!

sfx - I hate changes of plans as well, usually because I've already planned things in my head and get really upset that anyone should upset my plans which I haven't actually told anyone. Even I can see how unreasonable I might be ...

Kew - would normally say yes to curry, whether I eat with white or black or blue or yellow or green people, but had curry for tea last night, had curry for lunch today, and have lots more leftover curry to eat tonight, so maybe next time...

General statements about them and what they do ... well, don't get me started again ...

Kewcumber · 17/10/2009 21:01

and the "they" she is talking about potentially includes her adored grandson! Also an offensive assumption (IMHO) that everyone who is beige is hindu and celebrating diwali!

mygreatauntgriselda · 17/10/2009 21:03

Slng thanks for the link

Kew agree that's a bit of a daft way of looking at things for a Londoner

SFX - thought for a minute Geoffrey might be a lover am up 4 a run 2morrow if you can bear to have me again

Just has pizza, chips and re-run of Outnumbered with Dcs, curling up with a good book now

Kewcumber · 17/10/2009 21:08

hey aunty - my sister is doing the 10k run around Wimbledon in the morning - you could join her...

She and her DH are plnning to do it in about 45mins - is that good bad or indifferent?

sfxmum · 17/10/2009 22:32

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 18/10/2009 10:40

sfx, sorry, don't know of any plumbers. Hope you find one quickly though!

Kew, sorry about run in with your mum. definitely a daft way of looking at things! Did you go for a curry in the end?

Parents have been down this weekend, went for a really nice if freezing walk along South Bank yesterday.

slng · 18/10/2009 10:49

sfx - we use www.my-plumber.co.uk/ They seem OK.

sfxmum · 18/10/2009 10:58

thanks we are wondering if we should just wait until tomorrow for rates sake

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 18/10/2009 11:34

If you can wait, I would!

sfxmum · 18/10/2009 12:14

think we will use the kettle for hot water to wash
sent a few emails half hearted attempt to get them out

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 18/10/2009 18:00

If you are desparate for a shower you can come over - bathroom light isn't working so you can't shut the door and have to shower by candlelight. Would be very romantic if I had anyopne here to romance!

Didn't go for a curry in the end as we didn;t get back from swimming until nearly 6pm and just couldn't face dragging DS out on my own again.

slng · 18/10/2009 21:28
