let us see if anyone finds their way here

Sing - herewith ... ... are you having a nice glass of wine now?

Vbus - how terribly sad for you and your family, I'm sorry to hear that. Is your mum travelling alone on Fri or will your dad be with her? And poor ds too - do you think it is school related or maybe due to missing his dad? It sounds as though coffee at the cafe would be a good thing for you tomorrow, something nice and easy, especially if you are worn out. They do great cakes too and I think you should have one. Hope you get a better night's sleep tonight at the very least.

tillyfernackerpants · 14/10/2009 20:29

vbus, am to hear about your uncle, how awful for your mum. Sympathies on the tantrums as well, hope it doesn't last too long. Any idea on why he's waking up so much?

slng, agree with vbus, you do deserve wine at least!

sfxmum · 14/10/2009 21:37

vbus sorry for your loss quite sad for your mum
especially.
about tantrums it is hard to judge really, just when to provide some physical activity to unwind and when it become too much or if it is worth avoiding it altogether
but you certainly have my sympathies
school start really knocks them out but also brings up anxieties if dd's sleep and mood is anything to go by

slng give yourself a medal and a golden certificate

speaking of which dd got a golden certificate today which means the class mascot is coming home for the weekend
oh the pressure to provide entertainment for the stuffed animal is really on

pcW new cafe with good cakes always a good find, hope this week is going well

OP posts:
slng · 14/10/2009 21:39

vbus - sorry to hear about your uncle. As for DS1's meltdowns and accidents, I'd attribute it to school (I attribute all "bad" behaviour to school). All this behaving nicely in school is just too much for the little ones and they need to take it out on mummy relax at home.

Had wine, several of those millions of cookies, and some telly - watched the Inspector George Gently episode and am amused at the idea of resigning from the masons... Anyway, bed now! Apparently BBC turning up at school tomorrow ...

slng · 14/10/2009 21:41

sfx - we are still finding the nursery bear's accessories at home, after 2 weeks of returning the bear and its backpack and its sleeping bag and its pyjamas and its dreamstone (WTF) ...

pcworld · 15/10/2009 06:24

Morning all .... {{having been up since 3.30am, arrgh!}}

Coffee will find its way into this morning's activities, that's for sure! Vbus - how was your night? I hope ds1 was more settled for you.

I am LOL at the school mascot! SFX, will you have to keep a diary of the weekend's activities? The pressure is on!

Apparently I am allowed to take ds to the school hallowe'en disco next week so he will be going as a mini pumpkin I really don't know if I'll have the energy to dress up, myself! If my sleep is still crap by then, I guess I can go as a real-life witch, all I need to do is ditch the make-up

slng · 15/10/2009 10:18

Hello!

Successfully dodged TV cameras.

PCW - at 3.30am waking! Hope you get a chance to catch up on some sleep.

tillyfernackerpants · 15/10/2009 10:22

pcworld, & sympathies at 3.30am waking. Any chance of a rest today when ds has a nap?

slng, well done on camera avoidance!

Sfx, I think our nursery class has a teddy bear, no idea when its coming home though!

slng · 15/10/2009 10:29

Off with their silly little heads, I say. The nursery bears', I mean.

sfxmum · 15/10/2009 10:33

oh no pcW that is so unfair do feel free to have a tantrum 3.30 am is not human time

and yes there is a journal PJ's school uniform toothbrush etc - dd says she does not want him now, can't wait to see what happens most other children desperately want him but she is not bothered

slng well done!
my work places have been filmed twice, once for special news item, the other for an Open University course I always opted out and just kept an eye on the production side of it making sure they would only film stuff we were comfortable with

my broadband connection is rubbish again so am stuck here waiting for BT they said 8-1 so no running for me no nothing until they arrive probably as I need to leave to pick up ddwe think it is the line side of things rather than the ISP who have been really helpful

OP posts:
slng · 15/10/2009 11:32

sfx - I'm happy to talk about us and what we do for HOURS but not comfortable about making pronouncements on general issues, which is what they want. We are more of the "don't care what your policies are we will do as we pleased" type. We should be home educators, really.

mygreatauntgriselda · 15/10/2009 12:09

SFX do you fancy letting me out with you again on Sunday? I was wearing MBTs I thought they were good for running (or is it just walking?)

Vbus - that's so sad about your Mum's brother dying before she got there to see him (((hugs|))) to her

Kewcumber · 15/10/2009 13:10

vbus - how sad for your mum.

SFX - my mum and DS were in your DD's classroom yesterday - they went to a school meetiong (only them and someone else) apparently DS thought he'd died and gone to heaven!

My mum loves the school and says she will eat her heart out if he doesn;t get in! I have suggested that she moves to the flats opposite the school and we register him there! But the teacher didn't seem to think it would be a problem living where we are.

vbus · 15/10/2009 14:04

Thanks all for sympathies. Still feeling sad for my mum, but thankfully we all slept well and no drama today so far. Since starting nursery DS1 has been waking frequently, his mind is clearly doing overtime and is very tired but generally in a good mood. He started having 1 meltdown/wk but this wk's daily meltdowns are a bit much. Fingers crossed no more tears this week

PCW - at early waking, please go back to bed this afternoon, hope you have some rest

LOL at school mascot and dreamstone SFx - what do you have planned for teddy? DS1 already told he doesn't want to look after mascot, fine by me

KC - sent you an eamil last week, did you get it?

sfxmum · 15/10/2009 18:29

hi all spent afternoon at Ikea with a mum and 3 children but after lunch they were dispatched to the play area which they love and we had a break and much shopping

auntie absolutely up for it might even go earlier not sure about MBT's for running but you need very light shoes with good foot support

KC will email you shortly
did the visit happen in the afternoon? dd did not see him, she keeps saying she will show him around when he is a Giraffe next year

  • so far I love the school

slng my issue was more about protecting vulnerable people but the crew was cool

vbus we are a tad nervous about the entertainment plans actually photos must be taken and so on

hope dh gets home soon managed to speed make lasagne and it is smelling gorgeous

OP posts:
sfxmum · 15/10/2009 18:39

dd - I am going to have one of these biscuits

me - no because it is near dinner time

dd - I think I am going to ignore you

have you noticed Gordon Brown will be on MN for live chat? the man is a sucker for punishment

OP posts:
slng · 15/10/2009 19:48

Hello!

sfx - DH did a doctored photo of nursery bear. DC were very confused as to whether the event depicted actually happened or not. Never too young to learn never to trust your own eyes. But we did not have any comments from nursery about it. Studiously ignored, I think, like your DD ...

I've been so busy these past two months that I think I'd regard a visit to Ikea as a holiday! But I quite like Ikea anyway. Did you go to the one near Wembley? The only thing I don't like about Ikea is the queueing to pay bit...

Gordon Brown on MN? Is his wife on here? How about the other camp?

sfxmum · 15/10/2009 20:05

slng all other leaders have been on MN plus a handful of ministers favourite being Alan Johnson who actually answered my question

we did go to Wembley Ikea wasn't busy today

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 15/10/2009 20:08

lol slng! I have heard rumours of bears being photographed smoking & drinking

sfx, I would've loved your conversation. Ds1 & I had this today:

ds1: why have we stopped?
Me: because there's lots of traffic
ds1: why is there lots of traffic
me: because there are some roadworks up ahead
ds1: where are the roadworks? I can't see them
me: we haven't reached them yet
ds1: oh. Where are the workmen? If there are roadworks, then there must be workmen
me: I'm sure they're up ahead at the roadworks we haven't reached yet.
ds1: Oh. Why are we moving?
Me: the lights must have changed
ds1: Why have we stopped?
See above for the rest of the conversation and repeat numerous times - arrrggghhhh

slng · 15/10/2009 22:19

Tilly - our bear was not so drastic ... We have conversations about traffic too, but I have been known to just pull up at the side of the road until backseat drivers stopped asking me why we were so slow

Am watching news. LOL at BNP being told they are discriminating against "foreigners". I don't know whether to laugh or to cry.

Enough work for the night. Pate on toast and homemade oatcakes for supper!

tillyfernackerpants · 16/10/2009 07:03

Slng, think I've just seen your school on the news!

slng · 16/10/2009 09:56

Tilly - that's what I've been told. Also DS1 was apparently filmed running about in the playground too.

sfxmum · 16/10/2009 11:13

hello all

slng thought you meant filming at your work not the children's school

I have been very responsible and finished the study Unit ahead of time so now start writing the short essay tonight - unheard of

OP posts:
mygreatauntgriselda · 16/10/2009 13:36

Well done SFX!!

Tilly wait until DS2 starts talking...then comes the bickering...

Slng - OMG is your school on TV??? Fell free to e-mail me a link - would LURVE to see it

Was it on the news this morning - if so I did see it!

pcworld · 16/10/2009 14:40

SFX - you school swot - good one! You are an inspiration.

Sing - fame at last eh! Sorry I didn't see it, was too busy having breakfast thrown at me by ds

Am on a mission to persuade dh that we NEED to book a holiday for next April (I can't wait until the summer!) - am turning the thumbscrews, will report back later

Vbus - made the curry but think it is too spicy for the dcs so dh & I will have it and they will have to have fishfingers but still I am looking forward to a thai evening now!
