auntie . There is a dance shop in Pitshanger if you're ever desperate.

vbus, sounds like a nice night. I was asked to be class rep as well but have refused. I said maybe next year when I should hopefully have a little more time

sfx, hope the cold is better today, glad dd has settled in well again

slng · 29/09/2009 08:08

Good morning!

Breakfast all done. Packed lunch nearly done. Half-hour of leisure! What luxury.

vbus - what time did film finish?

What's a class rep!?

SushiMummy · 29/09/2009 08:32

Morning all. Hope everyone is well.

Last week DS had a head injury (someone threw a wooden brick at him) at nursery and got taken to A&E by ambulance then the next day he bumped his head again resulting the cut to reopen and he was taken to hospital yet again...

DS is fine, though. Quite excited to be taken by ambulance, really.

I am more worried about the nursery, though. It seems the staff turnover is excessively high at the moment (4 departures of key workers in 4 month in the preschool room). I am seriously concerned about this and am pondering other options now.

sfxmum · 29/09/2009 09:18

good morning all

sushi that is worrying, yesterday I was talking to 2 current nursery parents and they had similar concerns, one had sent a written complaint - hope things settle

slng class reps link the parents of a class and the school and afaik organise social events for the parents and mobilise them when needed

cold ok thanks but still feel bad enough to skip running today, dh took dd to school this morning

must study
hope everyone is well

sushi - I think my CM has a space (though I'm not sure if its full time - I don't think she is ideal for older children but with Daniel there two days a week it may work out fine for the final year before school.

Alternatively you could try Monty's nursery in Thompson road (v close to my child minder) though they do tend to have a waiting list.

The Montessori would probably take him for afternoon nursery (mornings are normally booked up in advance) and CM may be able to drop him off there but maybe not pick up as I think it clashes in the afteroon with school pick up.

mygreatauntgriselda · 29/09/2009 12:12

Sushi hope your DS's lil head is Ok and that he's not getting addicted to ambulance rides

Slng - class rep's main role is for the PTA and she (inevitably, dad's are never expected to do it) will be the person asking you to volunteer at school fairs and give donations for the teacher's christmas pressie . I did it for DS1's class whilst on maternity leave with DD. Its better to have 2 parents doing it to share the load. I had a great arrangement with another mum where she did the bulk of the written work as she had no other kids/job and some reason I always got the credit! We used to joke about it. I was the talker and she was the typer...Its a great way to meet other parents when your child first starts school

slng · 29/09/2009 18:05

Hello!

Got our recorder . I hope our neighbours have earplugs!

auntie/sfx - we don't have PTA in our school! Or at least if there is it has kept itself very well-hidden. Suits me...

Sushi - hope DS is fine. I found that DS1's old childminder was not so suitable when he was about 2, but the childminder who looked after him during part of the summer holiday was brilliant. I wish we knew someone like her earlier!

slng · 29/09/2009 21:03

DH bought me a compass.

We are not into flowers and things but compasses are very welcome!

tillyfernackerpants · 30/09/2009 09:14

slng, how romantic

Another rough night here. Ds2 has taken to waking up around 12 and then just being awake for 2-3 hours. He's happy until you try to leave the room & then he screams. Dh & I are exhausted but fortunately ds1 somehow sleeps through it all

slng · 30/09/2009 09:41

Morning!

Am just relaxing for a few minutes before doing a quick run to the supermarket before work.

Tilly - oh no! DS2 did a bit of that last month but seems to have settled down. Running all the way from nursery through to school back home through the park probably helps ... Kiddies sleep through the strangest things - DS1 slept through DS2 being born in the next room.

We are going to walk through the park today with our new compass.

sfxmum · 30/09/2009 09:48

good morning all

tilly sorry to hear they do odd things
hope he settles soon

slng is that so you can always find your way back to him

stupid cold still here but at least I slept last night missing running

am doomed regarding essay oh so doomed
but flat is getting tidier

OP posts:
slng · 30/09/2009 09:57

sfx - It's lucky that where we are the magnetic north is not too different from the true north... Not that I know what I am talking about...

Now to the supermarket with my incomplete shopping list.

sfxmum · 30/09/2009 10:53

and now I am reading German romantic poetry clearly I need help

OP posts:
slng · 30/09/2009 11:13

and I am shopping for a laptop sleeve ... Shall I get a pink one?

sfxmum · 30/09/2009 11:19

what is a laptop sleeve?
my laptop is white if it were pink dd would take it to her room

OP posts:
slng · 30/09/2009 11:23

Apparently a laptop sleeve is a laptop bag with less room. You can put your laptop into your laptop sleeve and then into any bag ... It can be pink.

pcworld · 30/09/2009 14:25

Hello, how is everyone? Tilly, sorry to hear about the sleeping issues, what happens if you leave him ie don't enter the room? You must be exhausted Fancy a coffee meet in your locale next week, perhaps Mon or Tues? I am also thinking of going to the toy library soon.

It has now dawned on dd that school is every day and she is now not quite so keen! Plus we have homework to deal with although it really doesn't take long. Weekends are now more precious than ever and I'm already looking forward to the Oct half term!

tillyfernackerpants · 30/09/2009 19:17

Hi pcw. If we leave him he just gets louder & more upset, then we're worried about ds1 waking up . I'm hoping its teeth related! Yes to coffee, that would be great, how about Weds/Thurs next week?

slng · 30/09/2009 20:53

Been playing DS1's recorder. Will see if neighbours call in exorcists tomorrow!

slng · 30/09/2009 20:54

vbus - sorry for all the text messages!

vbus · 30/09/2009 21:15

Slng - how do I know that you're not stalking me?

Tilly - can sympathise on the sleep front, DS2 sleep also been rubbish since last Thurs, he has had a cold and I can see more white daggers peaking through. Last night he didn't wake til 4am, luxury! Hope they will start sleeping through again

Sushi - that is a statistic, hope you get an alternative sorted out

Sfx - enjoy your social

Crazy days here, after film night, we had the reappearance of IL's who finally left today. Nice to see them but so hectic with them staying. Decided not to do class rep, maybe next yr. DS1 also had his school photo taken today, they're growing up too fast

mygreatauntgriselda · 01/10/2009 11:40

lol PC - did DD think it was just for a week or two? (if only...)

Wait until you have two in school, with all their homework, after school clubs, unfiforms for after school clubs, instruments & paraphenalia for after school clubs, play dates, school trips etc etc its really hard to keep up, or at least I find it so. I find my older ones a lot more time consuming than when they were babies/toddlers

How is the p/t jobby going, are you still doing/enjoying it?

Waves to everyone else

slng · 01/10/2009 13:47

Hello!

Busy working.

We have cake sale today in school, which I completely forgot about because it's in the next page of the calendar ... Anyway the local co-op shop does a good business whenever there's cake sale in school!

vbus - who's stalking who!?

sfxmum · 01/10/2009 17:59
