mellow, sounds like a nightmare. I guess you can't do a short term rent until its done? Btw, there's a night out planned for the 10th if you can make it

slng · 25/09/2009 20:57

I showed the kids the dance of the swans of swan lake on youtube. They were agog.

sfxmum · 25/09/2009 21:18

mellow sorry to hear sounds maddening

auntie dd wants ballet as well but am putting foot down she can so swimming and dance but not strictly ballet

slng dd likes going on youtube for all sorts of things lately her obsession is childbirth videos which are then relayed to dh in graphic, if not entirely accurate detail

have dodgy internet connection today I understand dh will try to sort it out in the morning, not sure which morning

OP posts:
mellow2 · 26/09/2009 09:04

thanks sfx. Don't think dd is cut out for dancing, two left feet etc but she loves the costumes.

tilly - can't afford let with all this building work and will be in Malaysia in oct until the 15.

slng · 27/09/2009 10:26

Went on a walkabout in town yesterday and slept till 9.30 this morning! What a sunny day! What to do what to do?

sfxmum · 27/09/2009 11:01

Kew picnic slng might be last dry warm one of the season just as soon as I marshal the troops

OP posts:
slng · 27/09/2009 11:15

Cycle ride to the North Circular Aqueduct and dim sum, I think.

sfxmum · 27/09/2009 11:21

really must learn to cycle starting to feel left out in this family

OP posts:
vbus · 27/09/2009 11:28

Mellow - sounds like a nightmare, might as well decamp if it means less stress for the time being?

We're absolutely taking it easy today I took both boys into central London to vist my bro yesterday and we had fun day out, but we're all tired and both boys have colds so quiet day needed. I have made broad bean pate, exquisite even if I say so myself! Also roasted a ton of veg to make a lasagne later on. Might go for a walk later in the sun.

vbus · 27/09/2009 11:34

Nice day for cycling

tillyfernackerpants · 27/09/2009 11:56

Lovely day for cycling

We've been to church & to the park. Think we're going to have a quiet afternoon in the garden. Need to do quite a bit of tidying up out there.

Ds1 also wants to have a look through catalogues to make up his birthday & christmas present list

vbus · 27/09/2009 12:36

Ah yes, the present list has started here too. So far DS1 has requested

  • red double decker bus
  • a beige felt tip
  • some scissors
  • fifi plates for his birthday party
tillyfernackerpants · 27/09/2009 12:46

vbus, at least they're relatively easy to sort out. Ds1 has requested a dog and a cat (live ones!) and a remote control dinosaur he saw in a toyshop (£120)! I wonder how I'm going to get him to lower his sights a little

sfxmum · 27/09/2009 16:14

list include a piano the girl thinks we live in a mansion

lovely day for picnic but both dh&dd tired and grumpy, I had a nice time

slng · 27/09/2009 18:42

Hello!

Saw the great wonder of the western world (well, west of the Westway anyway) - the North Circular Aqueduct! Apparently it's one of the very few (might even be the only one) aqueducts over a main road. It was certainly very surreal. Pics in FB soon.

Now I'm a bit achy all over ...

We haven't had Christmas lists yet. I get requests which go "when it is appropriate can you please get me a this or that" and I always say yes (and mean it too).

vbus · 27/09/2009 22:01

Slng - Ooh just saw the pics, v.cool!

Tilly - tricky, maybe you could tell DS1 that Santa doesn't deliver live animals or ones that are extinct? At least your list sounds normal, what nutcase darling child asks for a beige coloured pen???

Sfx - what happened to your cycling lessons?

Had a fun day today, weather was lovely wasn't it?

sfxmum · 27/09/2009 22:21

slng must look like aqueducts and bridges in general lots of lovely Brunel marvels around including in Hanwell I believe

vbus LOL does he know what beige looks like or does he just like the name?
about cycling the council needs numbers for classes and apparently this is more of a summer activity
dh seriously lacking in the teacher department occasionally mentioning he is neglecting me

dodgy internet again but dh has fixed it, he does have his uses

back to school tomorrow I need a more positive attitude to school gate stuff

OP posts:
vbus · 28/09/2009 08:23

Morning

Rubbish night's sleep here with both DC constantly waking up I will need to keep busy today for danger of falling asleep otherwise

Sfx - pity about lessons, I could certainly see there were heaps more bikes out during the summer.
BTW DH reached Paris yesterday afternoon so is back today after his epic bike ride

DS1 does know what colour beige is, he checked his felt tips and realised that colour was missing, hence his request, lol

Sfx you could always try my trick of leaving the house at the v.last min so I arrive to school just in the nick of time which hardly leaves any time for chats I'm not trying to be antiscoial I just always seem to run out of time when it's time to leave. I do catch up with some mums at the park on the way home though to find out the news

sfxmum · 28/09/2009 10:51

good morning all

not straightforward going back to school today, days off sick always throw them off balance I guess
vbus sorry about sleeplessness keeping busy is key to keeping awake but keeping it simple

am following the 'nick of time' advice to the letter

hope everyone is well

vbus · 28/09/2009 13:40

Glad dd is better, hope she settles back at school alright.

DS1 had a complete meltdown this morning, I think all the tiredness finally caught up with him. Since starting nursery he has been waking once each night plus has this cold. Glad it happened though as he seemed loads better once he'd got it out of his system & was happy to go to nursery.

I have my 1st social with the mums early this evening, while the DC watch a film we get cake and coffee!

slng · 28/09/2009 17:56

Hello!

Tried to buy recorder(!) but music shop shut, so had a run about in the park instead. Both kids exhausted. Though DS2 is singing "you are special I am special" over and over again to himself. Is it a sign of madness?

mygreatauntgriselda · 28/09/2009 19:35

Slng have you been to ABC Music in Kew? - they are lovely

Talking of which I sent an e-mail complaint to On Pointe in Sheen asking why it was closed and I got an abusive message from the husband of the owner . I am speechless. He is clearly very angry that his wife's business takes up so much of her time (perhaps he had to cook his own dinner that night?).

I am speechless - definately will not use that shop.

Mellow - got DD's outfit online instead - much cheaper and hassle free

slng · 28/09/2009 19:44

Auntie - at On Pointe! Take your custom elsewhere! There's a music shop near us which was supposed to be open but there was a sign at the shop about "unforeseen circumstances". We'll try again tomorrow. I'm ridiculously excited about getting a recorder... Haven't played one for years.

DS2 conked out in less than 7 minutes! Let's hope he doesn't wake up at 5.30 demanding to go to the toilet. I tell myself that's better than wetting the bed, which it is, but it's not as good as sleeping till 7 ...

vbus - how was coffee and cake and film?

sfxmum · 28/09/2009 19:52

auntie

spent afternoon at Kew with neighbour school mum, very relaxing
hope the signs of imminent cold vanish by the morning but not hopeful as throat is getting sore - annoying

dd was fine at school today after the initial - no I don't think I should go today

vbus how was the social? have mine on Thursday might take homemade cookies

OP posts:
vbus · 28/09/2009 21:23

Auntie - that is service, what happened to 'the customer is always right'?

Slng - good luck recorder shopping, dS1 tried one the other day, no doubt it will appear on his pressie list!

Sfx - boo to the sniffles

Filmnight was really good but all the DC looked pretty tired by the time film finished! DS1 was on a high but is soooooo tired. I mostly chatted to my neighbours but did break out of my clique to meet a few other mums. Neghbour is trying to get me to be class rep Not sure I have the time to do much. Cake was lovely though
