Hello all

Nice to see some of you and DC today, we had lovely day at Kew Sfx - DS1 just about managed to eat ice cream before it became a melting mass in the car seat!

Slng - hope tea cakes turn out nicely, if they do please can I have the recipe?

KC - like the purchase! Be warned the trek from car park to campsite is enormous, family camping is closest to arena but therefore furthest away from car park. There are porters, but we didn't find any available when we arrived. Minimal packing required esp as you'll have DS to transport too

tillyfernackerpants · 04/06/2009 21:04

Hi all, shame we couldn't make Kew today, would've been nice to catch up. Ds1 had his swimming lesson which he loves though & always wears him out!

Slng, tough job being a teacake tester, do you think you'll manage?

vbus · 04/06/2009 21:27

Hi Tilly - how is ds2 today? hope you got some rest

Nice to see you yesterdaay museli I'd forgotton how lovely MH is in the summer, must get back there soon

Slng - any update on tea cakes?

slng · 04/06/2009 21:41

vbus/tilly : teacake absolutely delicious, better than any I've bought. Funny shapes though, due to small helpers' odd ideas of what a ball looks like. Smells of warm spices with faint aftertaste of white chocolate. What more can you want? Recipe here. As you may have guessed from the tasting notes, I did use white chocolate instead of dripping.

vbus · 04/06/2009 21:46

Sounds delicious but maybe I won't make it after all as it uses 3eggs, I think it would lose it's richness if I used that qty of egg replacer... Will save the recipe for own comsumption though

BTW have just emailed you about shirts

tillyfernackerpants · 04/06/2009 21:47

slng, will there be any left for ds1?

vbus, ds2 is fine today, no problem last night! Though he'd just calmed down yesterday when he managed to roll out of his chair onto the kitchen floor so we had to have lots of cuddles again!

slng · 04/06/2009 21:58

tilly you think I'd eat 14 teacakes

slng · 04/06/2009 21:59

vbus - have replied

Kewcumber · 04/06/2009 22:28

vbus - wasn't planning on transporting DS, more on him carrying tent etc

slng · 05/06/2009 08:25

That's what I call optimism

sfxmum · 05/06/2009 09:40

good morning all hasn't the weather changed? it is almost as if we lived in England...

OP posts:
vbus · 05/06/2009 10:54

time to dig out my brolley

Tilly - oops, I bet that gave you both a little

On passport application #3 now, this is turning out to be such a nightmare. Fingers crossed it gets accepted by the office in time for our hols.

mygreatauntgriselda · 05/06/2009 13:15

Sushi we had the same thing when DS1 joined the school nursery. One iof his 4 year old classmates spent a lunctime in the corner of the playground, teaching all the other 4 year olds as many "bad words" as he could remember.

He too had older siblings. I think I did mention it to the teacher (mainly 'cos I didn't want her to think it was my DS teaching everyone the bad words). Mind you when I think back on it now, it makes me chuckle

Kew - get you with all your camping f gear!!

sfxmum · 05/06/2009 14:55

sushi forgot to add, dd says that other children say 'bad words' and this is not an expression we use, she has been know to use the B word and say S8it which I am pretty sure she heard at home

mygreatauntgriselda · 05/06/2009 21:19

vb why were the 1st two not accepted - waS IT THE PHOTOS?

OPPS

Kewcumber · 05/06/2009 21:49

DS used to do a line line in an emphatic "oh BUGGER"

but he seems ot have forgotten it now... no idea where he got that from though...

pcworld · 05/06/2009 22:06

LOL!!! We have had "oh my g*d" here - but that's it so far - and I have to say, I'm surprised it has not been far worse! Hope everyone is ok, sorry not to have been on here much this week - bit of a busy one and not managing to get online so much.

SFX - have a brilliant time tomorrow

slng · 07/06/2009 18:50

Hello!

Where is everybody?

Great to see people and LOs yesterday.

I have somehow missed the thunderstorm this morning. Slept through it ...

All baked out now - did pitta bread for homemade kebabs for lunch and now have just baked tons of gingerbread wafers.

vbus - have passed shirts to tilly. Can you just give them away if you don't like them?

sfxmum · 07/06/2009 20:01

hello all

hope everyone is well

I did hear the storm woke me up several times but it was fine and stayed in bed until 9

last od dd's parties over and done with, dh reading her bedtime story
she is now the proud owner of roller skates which she insists on using without assistance

OP posts:
vbus · 07/06/2009 20:26

hello all

Sfx - glad party went well. Roller skates

Slng - thanks so much, no worries will pass on to charity afterwards

Auntie - DS1 scribbled all over the 1st form, 2nd form the witness scribbled her signature over the border when it clearly says keep signature within border. 3rd time lucky eh?

Lovely weekend, went to Birmingham yesterday to see my best friend & her family as she is back from Oz for a short holiday. Also caught up with loads of other friends who I hadn't seen for ages, people I used to get drunk with, weird seeing them now with kids Went to PYO farm today and have had asparagus, strawbs & rhubarb today, yum (obvisouly not eaten together!)

Hope everyone had a nice weekend too

vbus · 07/06/2009 20:29

Oh and I asked DS1 if the storm woke him up (luckily DS2 slept through it), he replied that it wasn't a storm it was the bin lorries making all that noise. So there you have it...

tillyfernackerpants · 08/06/2009 07:33

vbus, ds1 said the storm was aeroplanes, that one of them had caught up our house & moved us to the airport

sfx, I guess dd is past the age where you can hide things & she forgets them?!

SushiMummy · 08/06/2009 07:41

Morning all.

Lovely to see some of you on Sat. DS and I had a lovely time.

KC - can I confirm that the Barn's church thing starts at 9.30 on every Sat? Who should I contact? Or, can we just turn up without booking? TIA!

auntie/KC - I think DS is fully aware that it's a naughty word and when it slips out of his word, he always looks at me saying 'I didn't say anything!'. I think we'll just ignore from now.[sigh]

We went to this place yesterday (my friend is a member) we stayed there for 4 hours! Had a fab time.

vbus · 08/06/2009 09:52

Morning

Sushi - that place is just 5mins from me, you should've popped round! It looks great there but has a massive waiting list to join. My neighbour was going to take me last mth but I couldn't go due to pox season

DS1 uttered 'OMG FFS' when he was 20mths old it was enough to make DH & I never swear in front of him again

Tilly - LOL, I just like the way they're convinced that what they are saying is the absolute truth and it couldn't possibly be anything else!

sfxmum · 08/06/2009 10:18

good morning all

tilly&vbus that is so funny, very imaginative

sushi looks swanky not surprised there is a big waiting list

tis morning I have mostly been trying to keep dd from injuring herself

and obsessively reading about the elections across Europe (apologies for political geekness) it is ever so that recessions mean a turn to the far right
