Hiya all,

Thanks for all the venue suggestions.

Kew - have thought about Kew (!) as option, esp Cambridge Cottage, but all the rules and regs on their website puts me off a bit. Was kind of hoping for something a little informal.

MrsR - Yes, Syon def a possibility. Went to a reception in their conservatory once and it was v nice. And fab news about DD2 win!

Auntie - hadn't come across the York House statue but was walking there the other day. Thing is there's talk of a riverside development going on in that area (also big campaign against) and I'd be worried about getting married next to a building site. Guess I'd better find out more. Enjoy hols!

Pembroke Lodge certainly lovely - will investigate that one further.

Braved Brent Cross shopping yesterday - have long felt desperate urge to visit Rigby & Peller for some, erm, serious underwired nursing scaffolding. Mission accomplished and feel much better for it. Unfortunately DS has just learned how to scrrrreeeeeeech and kept doing it really loudly - for effect I think, as is often followed by a grin - causing other shoppers to stare with eyebrows raised, and me to look flustered and say 'he's really alright, honest!'

Mum and dad came over today to look after DS whilst I had hair done. Feel suitably pampered now, though wish I'd been able to go to Kew today too, as was such gorgeous weather!

Glad to hear everyone (mostly) having fun. Hope eye situ improves, Kew! Now for some reason picturing you catering for groovy celeb royalty whilst wearing shades - rock on!

vbus - want to visit Farmer's Market cafe some time next week?

AnotherMuesliPleaseBarman · 29/05/2009 21:57

well done with the essay, sfx! sounds like you earned that wine!

tillyfernackerpants · 30/05/2009 19:07

Sfx, well done with the essay! Btw, I did a run this morning, my best one yet . I was thinking, if you did want to do a run before the race then I could do an evening one.

We spent the day at Kew today, then ds1 & dh went swimming. Poor ds1 was shattered. He could barely eat his tea & asked to go to bed at 6pm .

slng · 30/05/2009 19:19

Hello!

sfx - well done on essay!

Museli - no suggestion for wedding venues here: we did registry office then pub ... But been to nice wedding at the Great House at Sonning. Very nice, plus kids get to run about in large garden. But not cheap, I think.

Bit shattered today - stayed up past midnight to finish another Rebus book, then DS2 woke up at 2am demanding to be covered (this from a child who would sleep naked in mid winter) and then DS1 woke up at 3.30am being frightened of sharks despite knowing that there are no sharks where we live because we live near the top of a hill. Still, managed to hoover the inside of the car (first time in 3 years ...) on account of MOT on Monday. I think we'll just take it to the carwash for the outside ...

slng · 30/05/2009 19:21

It's time for a glass of something, isn't it? Sun shining, kids being washed upstairs, not by me, and an unread Artemis Fowl book.

vbus · 30/05/2009 19:35

Hello all

Sfx - well done on getting essay done. Enjoy wkend with IL's, hope it goes well. Ds1 seems much better thanks for asking, must've had a mild infection, who knows?

Tilly - good effort on run. hope Ds1 sleeps well for you tonight!

Museli - can defo second Pembroke Lodge, my friend's wedding was lovely there. glad you had some pampering, sounds nice. Will email you about meet up

Had a lovely day doing nothing other than go sandal shopping this afternoon for DS1, sale on at Johnsons's got a bargain. The week's are always so full of errands, school run & meet ups, so it was nice to chill out in the sun

Slng - will join you for a virtual glass of wine in the garden now

sfxmum · 30/05/2009 21:20

hello all

thanks all for the study cheers I would probably fell better about it if I had not drank 2 glasses of wine before proof readingnot looking at it sober until the mark comes in

muesli definitely proper support of the boobs makes a woman feel better, and btw there will always be someone arching their eyebrows in disapproval not matter what you do, best ignored really

tilly evening are a bit weird for us but we can talk about it

vbus good to hear it ds1 is ok

slng funny what children fear and get anxious about, the book dd has been reading all week has a boy who built a guillotine to decapitate chickens, well she decided to ask what it was today and I had to explain
and btw the purpose is not explicit in the book

we were at Kew as well today, followed by late lunch on the Green, glad I managed to fit in a run this morning too

tillyfernackerpants · 31/05/2009 05:09

Sfx, don't worry if you can't do evenings, just a thought.

We're having a quiet day at home today. Ds1 has had 2 busy days in a row so think he'll be happy to just splash about in the paddling pool.

sfxmum · 31/05/2009 09:09

tilly just a matter of planning really it would be nice

did anyone around Kew hear the fireworks at 12.30am which went on for half an hr? just how arrogant do you have to be?

probably a quiet day here too, hope everyone is well

vbus · 31/05/2009 20:26

Lovely day again, ended up at Kew this afternoon and DS1 fell asleep again on way home at 4.30pm Taking him to hospital tom for his growth/allergy review, will see how it goes.

Sfx - I'm sure essay is fine, too late to worry now!

Tilly - sorry I couldn't meet up but hope you had a fun day splashing around

On the scrounge, does anyone have a checked shirt I could borrow or any cowboy gear (kids or adult sizes)? Just realised it's Eastenders bloke's birthday in 2wks and he's having a fancy dress party, have not yet sorted out any costumes, help!

slng · 31/05/2009 20:41

Hello!

Went swimming, then pub lunch, then park. Exhausted.

vbus - I have two check shirts. One I'm about to give away and one that's a scruffy lumberjack type. Interested?

tillyfernackerpants · 31/05/2009 20:45

vbus, I think I have a kids cowboy costume around somewhere. Let me know & I'll dig it out

Ds1 did indeed enjoy splashing around in the garden. I went inside to put ds2 down for a nap, came back out & ds1 had pulled his slide into the pool! In fact, we had to take him swimming this pm just to get him out of the sun for a bit. He'd been outside since 9am!

Sfx, I can easily come to you for an evening run if that makes it easier. Would be nice to run along the river instead of the road

sfxmum · 31/05/2009 22:25

Hi all

nice days all around it seems

very quiet day here after inlaws left I studied and dd played computer games

tilly that works what time were you thinking? I need to ask dh to be home by then, but can't on Tuesday as it is dd's birthday

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 31/05/2009 22:31

vbus - have DS1 sized cheque shirt if you're interested but no other cowboy stuff...

SushiMummy · 01/06/2009 12:59

Morning all. Hope you are all enjoying the sun!

Seems DS's honeymoon period with Thomas the Tank Engine is over and he is now very much in love with Ben10. Think he is growing up too fast.

vbus · 01/06/2009 13:30

Hello all

thanks for all kind offers much appreciated
Slng - can I please get the 2 shirts off you on Sat?
Tilly - could you bring cowboy outfit on Weds please? Kew - may use your shirt if this doesn't fit. How is your eye now?

Sfx - hope you had a better night's sleep

Tilly - LOL at water olympics at yours, sounds fun

Sushi - can't believe he's into ben10 already I thought they'd have at least 1 more year of Thomas

Hospital visit ok, DS1 now has to some protein drink to try to get some more calories in him. He also has to has more tests and x-rays at some point

pcworld · 01/06/2009 14:15

Hello everyone, just checking in after a lovely week away in Northern Ireland Any breaking news or gossip?

Museli, I got married at the Petersham Hotel in a wonderful room with french doors and a balcony overlooking the thames - it was fabulous!

How is all the training going for the runners?

And what about the weather eh? Tis too hot for me to clean the windows or do the ironing so I am forced to bung off a couple of emails and recline outside with a new magazine

sfxmum · 01/06/2009 16:16

hello all

wave to pcW welcome back, raining in Belfast?

vbus - mixed bag isn't it? will you be getting a second opinion?
I slept better thanks no fireworks last night, think I stayed awake longer the previous night out of sheer outrage

sushi - must be a nursery thing dd has been talking about it as well but when I put it on she said she did not like it, am quite relived as it is very loud

Kew how is your eye? sunglasses still on?

speaking of sunglasses does anyone have any tips on where to get decent prescription sunglasses? I have seen a few websites but looking for recommendation

OP posts:
slng · 01/06/2009 16:17

Hello!

DS1 has a day-off from school today so we went to the Natural History Museum. We did have to forego the T Rex though. Far too scary

Sushi - DS1 is also into Ben10, though only because his friends were going on about it. We've got one book which must not be read too near bedtime due to it being too scary ... We are doing Shaun the sheep at the moment - box set from the library. He remembered it from last year when we saw one episode during the flight to Malaysia! I must say we are ALL enjoying Shaun the sheep. Universal appeal ...

vbus - will try to remember shirts. Please remind me! In fact will put them in my bag NOW. So remind me to take the black bag...

tillyfernackerpants · 01/06/2009 16:27

Sfx, I can recommend places not to go for sunglasses

Pc, welcome back, hope you had a nice time!

vbus, will try to find the costume! Btw, I can get the car on Weds

kew, hope your eye is better

sfxmum · 01/06/2009 16:29

tilly I was telling dh I might just get contacts just so I can get fashionable cheap sunglasses

slng I have not yet braved the museums solo, do you go by train?

OP posts:
vbus · 01/06/2009 17:34

Welcome back PCW! Great perk of the job isn't it when the weater is nice

Slng - thanks, that's great. Don't forget to bring your bag! Glad you enjoyed museum

Tilly - yay, will email you

Sfx - DH got some great ones in Richmond, will ask him where from tonight

Last few days DS1 has asked to try on my hair clips & today he wanted to put on some eye liner, should I be worried? Thankfully he has been playing with about 14 cars all afternoon

vbus · 01/06/2009 17:35

Sfx - meant to add, will give the protein drinks a go and call them in a week and decide where to go from there, thanks for asking
