We recently had an outside tap installed so it is therefore my fault for the inclement weather that has been around ever since

SFX, long day eh? I keep waking up at 4am - for the day! Most irksome and I have no idea why.

Attempting a clear-out here, kind of wish I hadn't started. Hence a 5 min breather on MN

slng · 26/07/2009 18:44

Hello!

Nice to see some of you yesterday evening! I am now devoid of cash ... but planning a day out with DS1 tomorrow ...

Now what can I cook for dinner that will use the maximum amount of chilli while remaining edible?

sfxmum · 26/07/2009 21:34

slng chilli jam but maybe not for dinner

omg overnight guest bit of pita

Hello

Eek at the late nights Sfx & early starts PCW

I'm housebound this week as ploughing on with toilet training, mixed success. Managed to sneak a walk to shops otherwise I would go stir crazy.

Liked the film but it was gruesome in places

pcworld · 27/07/2009 14:38

OK, here's a really brilliant film - and not gruesome. Gran Torino (clint eastwood). We saw it last night, it is fabulous. Give it a try. You can probably read the reviews on Amazon. Also saw Slumdog Millionaire recently which is great.

Vbus, you will get there with the toilet training, fear not. Get the wees sorted first and then worry about the rest later. It took dd about a month to be comfortable with "the rest" , many a pair of pants was thrown out!

It will soon be time to get the mini-tornado up, must hatch a vague plan for the afternoon. The little thing is covered in bumps and scrapes, he is so busy and acquiring various battle scars every day! Sometimes I get quite stressed thinking about what could happen, all I need to do is turn my head away for a second and he has got himself into a scrape

vbus · 27/07/2009 15:23

PCW - LOL at name mini tornado, have this all to come with DS2, defo in no hurry DH watched GT while I was out on Sat and said it was good

Pleased with progress so far, he seems to have skipped potty and using toilet. It's fine when no pants on but as soon as pants are on he treats them like nappies even though he knows they're not, d'oh. It will just take time

Might as well make some cookies as we're at home!

sfxmum · 27/07/2009 16:01

mini tornado covered in bruises so tiring lol

vbus well done ds1 on the potty training front

utterly boring day here but we are both quite tired so hopefully tomorrow it will be all back to normal

think will make lasagne tonight dh likely late and that will keep ok

last film I saw was United 93 about one of the 9/11 planes I thought it was well made
have a few in the house I have not yet watched

sfx - do tell about guest...

Nice to have a night out on Sat that didn't involve falling asleep! Don't forget to ask your cleaner about Mon and Weds.

slng · 27/07/2009 19:46

Hello!

Had nice day out in central London with DS1 and got calligraphy brushes ... We are now proud owners of several severely amateurish black-and-white-and-shades-of-gray Chinese ink painting, done by me, DS1 and DS2 (his one is mainly black). I haven't come across this smell for at least 25 years ... brings back memories ...

LOL at mini tornado!

mygreatauntgriselda · 27/07/2009 21:41

Kew its me with the cleaner lol - was thinking about it today (am I brave enough to have her kids over??) will deffo ask. At the very least she could do 3 hrs on weds am sure

pc - gran torino is one of my film club films this month haven't seen yet but thanks for the recommendation, am looking forward to it now

Kewcumber · 27/07/2009 23:11

yes I knew it was you just forgot to mention you by name! Weds for 3 hrs no good - I really want someone who will do another couple of hours on a different day.

Would consider her doing 3hrs Monday 2hrs Friday at a push.

Ideally I'd like MOnday and Thursday!

mygreatauntgriselda · 28/07/2009 09:21

Will tell her you need Mon and Weds and see what she says.It depends where she is working that day I guess

vbus · 28/07/2009 13:38

Hello all

Not much happening here, another day in for us

yesterday afternoon I told DS1 I had a vagina and not a willy as kept asking me about my willy. DH came home just as I was tucking DS1 in bed, at this point DS1 declared to him that 'mummy did not have a willy because she's got a pyjama'

sfxmum · 28/07/2009 14:02

hello

vbus there has been great deal of talk about vagina vulva bottom etc but so far no public declarations, no doubt waiting for Christmas dinner at inlaws

all quiet here dd slept loads woke up at 8.30 declaring she was still too tired but we managed to make it to nursery before 9.30
apparently still sleepy/tired so quiet afternoon here

mygreatauntgriselda · 28/07/2009 14:27

Good luck with your vagina pyjamas!

DS1 and DD slept in the living room last night (at their request) and woke up at 5.30am . They had the TV on and breakfasts made by 5.39am...

On the positive side, I will be able to get them to bed early tonight

mygreatauntgriselda · 28/07/2009 14:33

Hiya

Does anyone fancy hamster sitting for the last two weeks of August. They are very cute and low maintenance

tillyfernackerpants · 28/07/2009 15:35

auntie, would love to babysit the hamsters but not so sure with ds2 or ds1 for that matter!

vbus, lol @ vagina pyjamas! We've had chats about 'what's that' but nothing major so far!

Quiet day here as well, been to the library, ds2 now asleep & ds1 drawing on dh's laptop .

Glad everyone had a nice night out on Saturday

Kewcumber · 28/07/2009 15:53

sorry (re hamsters) we are away those two weeks. Besides cats might think they are fast food!

DS insists on thinking that girls are born with willies and do something (radical presumably) to get rid of them. No amount of discussing it will convince him otherwise.

Yesterday... me arrive home hair tied back because its horrid and greasy... DS "oh mummy your hair is so pretty"! training him well.

slng · 28/07/2009 21:12

Kew - I asked DS1 yesterday whether I should get a haircut while we were in chinatown and he said my hair was just right and neither too long nor too short. Clearly there is something in the air.

I feel a cold coming on ...

slng · 28/07/2009 21:13

No hamsters for me, auntie. I've already eaten.

sfxmum · 28/07/2009 21:30

no hamsters sorry will hold out on pets until the inevitable nagging becomes unbearable
hope you find a nice home for him/her

lovely young men in the making KC and slng have there

dd only just fell asleep and she has been in bed since 7.45 I am somewhat frazzled

best have a quick drink

pcworld · 29/07/2009 06:43

LOL at hair and vagina comments!!!! Tres amusing.

Trekked over to North London yesterday to meet a friend, we had one of those lovely "out all day" ones and everyone was knackered last night. Perfect! It was at Golders Hill Park which is lovely if yo haven't been there. Unsure about today, it's looking pretty grey out there. Had planned a trip to Kew with a friend but think we may be hanging out here instead.

Need to get the coffee going now, a couple of pints and I should be ready to face the day

Tilly, how is the new supermarket?

mygreatauntgriselda · 29/07/2009 10:04

Thanks for replies re hamsters, its only for two weeks FX lol - not looking for a permanent home for them (the kids would kill me)

Kew - cleaner can do 3 hours on Monday, starting at 2.30pm and 2 hours on Weds, after lunch. Is that OK?

Can you e-mail me your up to date mobile number, so I can pass it onto her? - Cheers :
