Auntie, hope you are all feeling better? I have had a mildish lingering thing for 8 days now, mainly dreadful headache, extreme exhaustion, sore throat. But no high temp. So no idea what that's about.

dd has chickenpox, the spots appeared this morning. It's such a shame that she'll miss her last week at nursery

Tilly, that's great to hear you are doing a doula course - v exciting? How long does the course last?

tillyfernackerpants · 20/07/2009 07:24

Pc, sorry about you & dd. Hope she gets better to make at least some of her last week

The course is 3 days & in Putney so very doable. Am hoping to get enough work out of it to make it worthwhile!

slng · 20/07/2009 13:09

PC - sorry to hear about CP. Hope it's not too bad.

tilly - doula course in Putney sounds good I find interactive computer games quite stressful, but would happily spend hours playing solitaire games ... Not sure which one is sadder...

Got letter from NHS today - apparently they measured and weighed the kids in school. DS1 is apparently "a healthy weight". Letter came with patronising leaflet about healthy lifestyle, including top tips such as putting in your child's lunchbox a banana with happy face drawn on the skin . Where would this end? A smiley face on individual grapes??

sfxmum · 20/07/2009 16:56

hello all

quick read see some of you and LOs are not feeling well hope everyone is improving

we just arrived
I see kewC has not posted probably still recovering from ordeal

OP posts:
pcworld · 20/07/2009 17:32

SFX, hope you had a fab time and can't wait to hear all about it.

We are recovering from an immensely stressful time, my FIL suffered a massive stroke last night. However, this afternoon he seems to be making a miraculous recovery and we are hoping that this continues.

Poor pox-covered dd is asleep on her sofa, devastated at missing the teddy bears picnic at nursery today

mygreatauntgriselda · 20/07/2009 18:03

PC Hugs to you and your hubby

and to lil DD xoxoxox

mygreatauntgriselda · 20/07/2009 18:04

PC I think the high temp is the main indicator of swine flu

pcworld · 20/07/2009 18:51

Auntie, are you all feeling better now? I think everyone is looking forward to the schools breaking up now, particularly with all this horrid illness. Did you have to take tamiflu or did you manage to get through it with ordinary painkillers?

sfxmum · 20/07/2009 21:04

pcW sorry to hear about FIL hope your dh is bearing up ok and his dad is improving
poor dd shame to miss fun things on account of illness hope she feel better soon

OP posts:
slng · 21/07/2009 10:09

Morning!

PC - hope FIL is recovering well and everyone too. Last day of school for us today.

sfx & Kew - great pics!

Must work really hard today - taking the next three days off to gallivant about with kids.

Had a discussion on the Archimedes Principle last night with DS1, and then on the nature of space and time (Is there still time if all the clocks in the world stopped? Ans: you can always look at your watch. Fair enough ...) Tonight we are going to discuss Special Relativity, apparently. Why oh why do they have to have pictures of cars and trains in encyclopedias, especially on pages I don't understand??

sfxmum · 21/07/2009 15:18

hello all

hope everyone is feeling better today
dd seems to be getting obsessed with viruses and germs and keeps talking about Swine flu, they do absorb everything don't they?

slng that reminds me of a very funny thread about explanations parents provides tor the children's questions

I don't like this bit of the holiday cycle, far too much to clean and tidy

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 21/07/2009 16:20

sfx, glad you had a nice time!

pcworld, how's fil? Hope he's still improving

Quiet again today, nothing much really happening for us

mygreatauntgriselda · 21/07/2009 16:28

Mine break up today too - they had picnic planned for after school but rained off

Getting sick of media hysteria over SF TBH

mygreatauntgriselda · 21/07/2009 16:29

SFX how was latitude???

sfxmum · 21/07/2009 16:44

had dd at home today we woke up too late to get organised for nursery

auntie see FB don't want to bore everyone with details
except maybe celeb spots, some quite disturbing

wave to Tilly

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 21/07/2009 17:37

sfx, you have to spill on disturbing celebrity spots

sfxmum · 21/07/2009 23:36

tilly mostly it was just the actors writers and musician who were performing, they do tend to mingle a lot especially if they have young families
but I also saw 2 ex ministers Geoff Hoon thankfully not very near me, and Caroline Flint really tipsy snogging her husband and dancing without shoes in between sets and right at the front
the above two were disturbing

OP posts:
mygreatauntgriselda · 22/07/2009 15:21

lol sfx the thought of ministers snogging there makes it seem less attractive

sfxmum · 22/07/2009 19:56

oh my goodness thumbleweed

is the meal out still happening? is it this week? sort of lost track

OP posts:
pcworld · 22/07/2009 21:25

I think everyone is still barfing at the thought of ministers snogging

Ohhhhh .... ahhhhhhh. And. Relax. Yes, it's day 3 of the stayathomeathon with two small children. Am so lucky that dh brought home a nice bottle of merlot tonight. dd is so much better, but still the spots have not crusted over so she will miss the last day of school tomorrow. I think I will have to go out for at least a short drive tomorrow. dd is fine, but ds is not good at being cooped up at home - even throwing him out into the garden doesn't always work. We need structure - things to break up the day.

Have next week planned to the nth degree to make up for it. Can't wait!

Yes, hope our night out is still happening Ealing is that right? Don't know Ealing at all but it will be a change and the venue sounds good, count me in for karaoke

pcworld · 22/07/2009 21:29

Also, SFX - can't wait to hear more about the festival, would so love to go next year, do you have a link to the site so that you know when the tickets go on sale? Are there good offers if you book in advance? Did you stay in a posh camping field or did you bring all your own gear?

Kew, how did you like it? Would you do it again?

DH is watching Borat. I just can't face it We watched The Kite Runner last weekend, I thought it was totally brilliant. Have not read the book though, so don't know how it compares.

slng · 23/07/2009 09:08

Hello all!

Had busy day yesterday doing nothing at someone else's house. Kids actually slept in this morning, but now more than making up for it by bouncing about naked upstairs under the pretext of dressing ...

sfx - would appreciate not giving away more details about ministers snogging. I feel sick, and I don't think it has anything to do with swine flu.

Dentist visit today and then shopping for DS1's clothes. He's grown out of all his t-shirts. Have to decide where to go ... EB? Kew? Greenford? The world is our lobster.

Night out - is that still happening? Shall I book? How many?

sfxmum · 23/07/2009 10:16

good morning all

slng if it is Saturday I should be able to go but not Friday I expect I will be up late finishing essay

pcW I stayed at the Family camping the fancy one is too expensive despite the hot showers
have a look at their site they should come out with tickets for next year soon
we are not sure if we will return next year might try another one we shall see
