KewC are you home or at work? with grumps

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 14/07/2009 11:04

at work - having wasted a whole bloody day yesterday with a cannula hanging out of my arm for no reason!

Still always nice to have a surprise ECG and chest Xray when you'r lest expecting it - put the willies right up me, I can tell you. (ECG was normal)

Low iron/ tiredness PAH!

Big lie apparently no-one had noticed that my iron levels were going up without symptoms improving until smart registrar yesterday decided to take arterial blood (OUCH!) and I have low oxygen saturation.

Nothing to do wth low iron (which is apparntly no on the low side of normal) is is respiratory - most likely sleep apnoea.

So now I need a new referral to Respiratory clinic and we start all over again.

Still need iron to come up a bit but iron liquid should be sufficient.

sfxmum · 14/07/2009 11:15

so are you getting extra iron to help you out?
there are very effective treatments for sleep apnoea so I hope that is what it is, at least ECG was ok so probably not about abnormal heart rhythms
another chapter for your medical catalogue
but how do you fell? apart from annoyed

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 14/07/2009 12:22

still feel very tired - am Ok until I do anything low energy or repetitive - reading, driving, computer work, watching tv - at which point it takes about 5 mins for me to fall asleep. Its's like having narcolepsy!

I'm going to go back on Floradix - I only stopped becasue I thought it wasn't working! BUt apparently it was so will buy some more.

My bro has sleep apnoea very badly so I know a bit about it.

I am a prime candidate despite being a woman - deviated septum, stuffy sinuses, enlarged tonsils, large neck size (after steroids). Its the fat around my neck which accumulated with steroid use that I suspect have pushed me from being an occasional snorer to a full blown sleep apoenia. (don;t pitch your tent near us at the weekend!)

sfxmum · 14/07/2009 12:37

dh has a mild apnoea deviated septum etc much worst since his weight is up and even worst if he drinks, he is of course oblivious but the snoring is so so loud and then there are the freaky stops, am getting used to it I just count until he starts breathing properly again

sfxmum · 14/07/2009 12:38

about driving will you have someone else other than ds in the car with you? we are likely to hit queues on Thursday

OP posts:
mygreatauntgriselda · 14/07/2009 12:43

KewC (((hugs)))

Slng I had to complain (politely) to our school a couple of times about the fact that they seem to assume that all mothers are SAHM and forget that some of us have to juggle work committments with input into school. I think if you make your point loud and calmly they will improve their planning, so you can plan your life too

Not sure if we've had SF, as GP refused to give a definitive diagnosis or prescibe Tamiflu (its being rationed to most serious cases/vulnerable ppl). He said it may be SF as same symptoms, but said he didn't want to alarm us . TBH I was more alarmed that GPs no longer diagnose anything, but thats my own personal soapbox

DS2 does seem to be getting better slowly so am hoping it was SF, as would rather have got it out of the way IYKWIM

Kewcumber · 14/07/2009 12:47

thankfully SIL is coming in car with us.

PS we need to be near you as we have no mallett!

slng · 14/07/2009 13:15

Kew - Hope it gets sorted soon. BTW how was DS's concert? What a cutie he is.

sfx - watch out for Kew with mallet.

auntie - wasn't sure how polite I was this am, but message sent, I think. The problem is that everyone denies responsibility - oh we just go along with it no idea what time it starts or finishes only just got told this morning ourselves etc etc. And here I am trying to teach DS1 to be responsible for his actions and stop giving me sh*t excuses. Is there hope??? So depressing. Anyway hope it's SF for you and LOs (strange wish this is ) and it's over and done with.

sfxmum · 14/07/2009 14:28

auntie strangely like slng I hope that it is mild SF just to get it over with

KewC do you want to drive up at same time as us? like I told you on text I spoke to the guy who runs the wheelbarrow hire and sort of reserved one under your name he said he would try to keep a couple aside most of the time for us
not sure I have a mallet think last time we used Paddle's

OP posts:
sfxmum · 14/07/2009 14:37

I meant it is hard to reserve places in the camping site it is a bit like the Oklahoma land runs race to the best spot and mark it with a tent pole or something

will be baking cookies and cake tomorrow a person needs some decent home cooked goodness

mygreatauntgriselda · 14/07/2009 15:48

SFX I need some

mygreatauntgriselda · 14/07/2009 17:16

My manager is off work with suspected SF

sfxmum · 14/07/2009 17:24

I would really prefer having it sooner rather than later just to build up some immunity hard to tell the strength of the illness now

OP posts:
sfxmum · 14/07/2009 17:26

although I would rather not have it at all
still remember last time I had flu about 10yrs ago it was awful for about 3 days could not move out of bed without help

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 14/07/2009 17:35

yes please would love to coordinate a mass drive up with you - a wagon train!

WE hope to leave around 1pm but are flexible. I may need to stop a bit more often becuase otherwise I'll be asleep at teh wheel. DO you do a problem watering hole stop about half way? Perhaps we could meet up then.

sfxmum · 14/07/2009 17:39

KewC the plan is to send dd to nursery, sort ourselves out and pick her up at 12.45 ready to go. we always stop about 3 times anyway given the distance and the likelihood of queues on the last few miles, it is small country roads.

I must give you dh's mobile number as we will be rationing phone/ battery time
it will be fun we start mingling with festival folk as soon as we are out of London

OP posts:
sfxmum · 14/07/2009 17:41

have already packed dd's bag with plenty of clothes she gets dirty very quickly with all the painting, arts&crafts mud...

OP posts:
slng · 14/07/2009 21:09

sfx, Kew - all sounds very exciting!

pcworld · 14/07/2009 21:57

Am (once again) v envious of the latitude larks that lie ahead - exciting!! Hope all ill people are feeling better - especially KC, sorry you are having a rotten time again.

Swineflu such a worry now, isn't it

SFX, have done as requested on FB, it is page 56 from Jane Eyre. I love the smell of old books.

We have just got back from a quick supper out in Richmond sans kids - bliss! Have a super soft-top Merc to pose around in this week courtesty of the insurance company - can't believe they thought that this would be a suitable replacement for our battered old Golf!

Feeling uber-tired so bid you good night, must try and post properly on here tomorrow and more regularly. So busy with ds! He fell flat on his face today and I thought he had broken his nose. Am hoping that the stair gates arrive very soon!

sfxmum · 14/07/2009 22:23

pcW sounds like a nice evening plus fancy car hope ds is ok
as I recall dd was permanently bruised for a good year

slng I am looking forward to it actually although this year I have fewer expectation as to who I will see

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 14/07/2009 23:20

I have no expectation about seeing anyone at all (am expecting to be asleep as usual) will just be happy if we survive wihtout me having killed DS or SIL or dissolved in a puddle of rain in our collapsed tent...

mygreatauntgriselda · 15/07/2009 10:50

when R U both of to latitude - is it 2morrow?

sfxmum · 15/07/2009 11:40

yep tomorrow just been to town for last minute stuff and will spend the afternoon baking
in a fit of madness I bought a pair of skinny jeans why why am blaming the headache

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 15/07/2009 13:55

have you looked at map sfx - do you have a "preferered site" policy? or do you just shout "Yee-haw" and plant you flag in the ground whilst DH wrestles others to the ground
