Is it normal for a 3yo child to be terrified of the sound of blowing wind, even when he's indoors? Nobody seems to believe him.

mygreatauntgriselda · 10/07/2009 20:33

I'm not sure Slng but they can get funny little phobias can't they?

SFX when DD started reception she went to bed at 5.30pm each night and slept thru (oh the good old days...)

I think the idea of an orange bin lorry sounds nice

slng · 10/07/2009 20:46

I believe him... Question is what to do about it?

DS1 started reception full time straight away. He was quite tired, but it was manageable (for him, I mean). I let him do the same hours in the nursery before he started so he was used to it.

sfxmum · 10/07/2009 20:52

I think odd phobias are common best just get on with it they seem to grow out of it and certainly not tease or say nonsense like some people do
still it seems random and baffling

dd only goes 3 mornings to nursery slightly longer hrs that reception morning but by Friday she is quite tired I think early dinner and early bedtime will be essential

off to watch Torchwood

have day school tomorrow hope it finishes early so I can do a spot of shopping by myself

OP posts:
slng · 10/07/2009 20:55

Actually we found out just earlier that it was the big awnings flapping in the wind that worries him the most. That's more understandable, is it not?

vbus · 10/07/2009 22:11

Torchwood
That was quite horrible to watch

sfxmum · 10/07/2009 22:19

yes it was but at least it was not one of those 'hey presto a solution from my sleeve'
this time there was a heavy price

have packed yet?

slng that makes sense imagination has its downside

OP posts:
vbus · 11/07/2009 08:48

Going to start packing v. soon, honest! just after a cup of tea...

Just realised we have no travel insurance thank goodness for online services, sorted it out just now in 5mins

Slng - that would be scary for a 3yr old

slng · 11/07/2009 09:00

Morning!

vbus - packing is the sort of thing that expand to fill the time you have, so the less time you have the quicker you can pack. And what time are you leaving?

vbus · 11/07/2009 11:03

Couldn't agree more DH taken boys out to playgroup and I've blitzed the packing in an hour, just have toys and a few other bits and bobs to pack and somehow we have to try and fit it all in the car Leaving tom at an unearthly hour 4.45am

Now have to make some lunch before troops return

Hope everyone has nice weekend

slng · 11/07/2009 23:05

Hello!

Hope everyone had a nice day. We went to a nice party and LOs played in the rain. Tried to convince DS2 that he's not scared of the rain any more. Will see if it works.

Going to bed now after 3 Tintin books!

mygreatauntgriselda · 11/07/2009 23:07

vbus have a lovely time

sfxmum · 12/07/2009 18:36

hello all

vbus should be relaxing now in France how lovely

slng dd was afraid of wind for a very long time

auntie I think our meal and bedtimes will have to change too lots of adjustment ahead

spent yesterday at King's college for day school my head always aches in air-conditioned rooms with projectors on bought a couple of shirt on way home as consolation

catching up on stuff today and preparing for festival hurrah can't wait even if it is going to be a bit wet, sister is off to Benicassim tomorrow

OP posts:
mygreatauntgriselda · 13/07/2009 12:00

Am home with two sick Dcs today: DD and DS2

tried to look at that link SFX but annoying Carling thing was spoiling my fun

Wish I was in France..(sighs...)

mygreatauntgriselda · 13/07/2009 12:02

Anyone heard from Steppy in last two weeks? have txted her twice and no response - very unlike Steppy and am wee bit concerned

sfxmum · 13/07/2009 13:39

auntie take it ds2 is improving now? hope they all feel better soon

not heard from steppie although not unusual for me

hope KewC is ok today

quiet day here just starting with preps for festival, seems we will endure typical festival weather with heavy rain forecast for Friday morning, still wellies are a good look
mine are very flowery

OP posts:
mygreatauntgriselda · 13/07/2009 17:25

Ooh I love packing for going away SFX

What is KewC up to today (I've clesrly missed something here)

DS2 marginally better thanks for asking after him - i.e. just warm, grotty and grumpy with crusty red eyes, as opposed to feverish, grotty and grumpy with crusty red eyes

I've got it too and have had rotten last few days feeling ill with ill kids

DD was off sick today, thus breaking her immaculate record of no sickness this year

slng · 13/07/2009 19:59

Hello.

Auntie - Hope you and LOs are better. Is it the dreaded SF?

KewC not a happy bunny. See her FB page.

Exhausted and in very bad mood. Not happy with school (again). TWO days' notice for something happening requiring getting off work early. Bastards. They really hate working parents, don't they? Swore rather loudly in school, and DS1 promises to tell teacher that mummy is mega unhappy. He's more confident than I had expected ...

sfxmum · 13/07/2009 21:53

see what you mean about KC slng, just had a look

school seems a bit odd but then have no experience of school as such, I suppose best to mention it to them calmly and make your point

OP posts:
slng · 13/07/2009 22:08

sfx - not calm would go to nearest church to pray for rain and thunderstorm and hail if I thought it would work (outdoors event planned) never call me forgiving. (DH thought that was funny but I mean it. Had enough of cooperating. Everyone cooperates with them. Let's hope the weather does not.)

Harrumph.

sfxmum · 13/07/2009 22:16

should rain on Wednesday apparently, does that make you feel better?

OP posts:
SushiMummy · 14/07/2009 07:15

Morning all.

Been mega busy at work (I've been taking the first tube to work lately). Hope everyone is well.

DS was ill last week, then me and now DH under the weather. Could be swine flu?

slng · 14/07/2009 10:22

sfx - yes.

Kewcumber · 14/07/2009 10:50

grumpy grump grump.

sfxmum · 14/07/2009 10:51
