wasn't thinking necessarily this sat sfx (and good luck with race) but any sat before 17th July!

vbus · 23/06/2009 10:40

Hello all

KC - you seem to have had a bad run of it lately, hope you feel better soon and good luck for test results

Auntie - glad smear results were clear. Yes to night out!

Sfx - are you psyched up for race?

Not much to report here, defo having a quiet day as yesterday ended up being good but unexpectedly manic

sfxmum · 23/06/2009 11:37

good morning all

kewC ok and thanks

vbus psyched up is not really the term I would use I am more dreading the whole pink fluffy hand holding 'fun' warm up and so on
thinking I should have gone for a straight 5k instead and ignored the fact I would have come last

it is supposed to be hot too

am so bored should have gone running once dd was at nursery, instead did the sensible thing and finished the reading for this essay and started the plan I hate being sensible

slng · 23/06/2009 13:32

Hello!

Working and very bored. Have to stop myself eating up the entire gingerbread we made yesterday.

Bored bored bored.

sfxmum · 23/06/2009 17:05

I think I will take dd to Kew tomorrow after nursery (1pm) any takers?
too nice to stay indoors

still bored

OP posts:
vbus · 24/06/2009 10:10

Morning all

DS2 teething getting worse since weekend and is generally v.cranky/not napping. Still, we don't have the fever/vomiting/hrly wakings that DS1 used to suffer with teeth

Sfx - would like to get out if DS2 has a decent nap this afternoon, but will probably head to 1 o'clock club. Do you/anyone else want to come?

Last art class tonight, can't believe my course has nearly come to an end

slng · 24/06/2009 10:22

Morning!

We'll do Kew next week, I think. But it will probably rain all week...

vbus - sorry to hear about teething problems. Hope it's not too bad.

Still bored.

Must clear out old shoes. DS2's wellies must be several sizes too small by now ...

vbus · 24/06/2009 10:32

Slng - thanks, teething not much fun but not anywhere as bad as with DS1, I am just grumpy as I'm now full of a cold and finding the extra night wakings hard after getting used to 'good' sleep.

Did you go to PYO to get strawbs?

sfxmum · 24/06/2009 10:37

hi all

went for earlier run today it is really hot

vbus sorry abut teething glad you see the silver lining
I doubt we will make it to 1o'clock dd took her bike to nursery so might be too much hassle to come home then out again we shall see
actually lately she has a mini meltdown on way home every single day, it is tiresome and whatever approach I use seems to have the end result of tears

slng am sure it will be nice next week

best write essay I guess I can tell I will be sending it at 11.50 Friday evening

OP posts:
vbus · 24/06/2009 10:51

Sfx - I don't envy you running in this weather, hope it cools somewhat in time for your race. You will have that dilemma of wanting to drink enough so you're not dehydrated but not wanting to drink so much you keep needing the loo

What might be causing the meltdowns? Is DD still a bit poorly?

Well better go and get boy wonder as he's awake now

mygreatauntgriselda · 24/06/2009 11:20

Anyone need a cleaner Weds pm?

mygreatauntgriselda · 24/06/2009 11:21

Roll up, roll up:

mumsnet.com/Talk/local_richmond_upon_thames/777800-July-night-out-for-west-London-Grrls?msgid=159003 14#15900314

sfxmum · 24/06/2009 12:15

auntie wish I could get a cleaner alas...

vbus apparently it will be quite hot Sunday but at least am on the first one at 11am instead of the 2pm one by which time I hope to be either lazying about Kew or tucking into a nice stack of pancakes

no idea what is causing meltdowns can only imagine it is tiredness, don't think she is sleeping enough, we need to change evening mealtimes and bedtime I think

OP posts:
sfxmum · 24/06/2009 12:16

point is I will get a medal for dd

OP posts:
vbus · 24/06/2009 14:44

Poor women running at 2pm Hope there is some shade along the route

Decided against MH, DS2 a bit too tired/grumpy. May just go and feed the ducks again this afternoon

slng · 24/06/2009 20:26

sfx - I was going to say we don't get many meltdowns these days, but we did have one this afternoon, mainly due to me being unreasonably determined that DS1 was going to conquer his fear of the suspension bridge in the playground . He did do it, and at bedtime he said he wasn't angry with me anymore ...

sfxmum · 24/06/2009 20:55

vbus don't think there is shade at the Old Dear Park

slng yesterday's meltdown was because she decided against riding the bike, this about 1/2 way home, then I was not allowed to push it because 'the wind would do it' presumably aided by fairies and unicorns
the in our building half way up the stairs she remembered she likes to be an animal and therefore had to go back to the basement to be the animal of the day- I did not like that idea so cue tears

mygreatauntgriselda · 25/06/2009 10:16

Hello, All! A big day today as dd's best friend is coming round for tea - and honestly, you would think that the Queen, herself was coming, such is the level of excitement and preparation

SFX. good luck with the school meeting, I had mine yesterday and am now up to my neck in uniform lists and all sorts of other paperwork. Can you remind me where you found the uniform thread the other day? Am wondering whether one should go for a cheapo Asda or similar offering - or is it better to go for John Lewis/M&S, they might last longer ...

sfxmum · 25/06/2009 13:56

pcW this is the list that auntie posted some weeks ago

5 shirts (£2 each in M&S)
5 pairs of socks
5 white vests
2 tunics/or trousers
2 ties (they always lose them)
One or two cardis (they get lost as well as they take them off and leave them around and they disappear)

1 PE kit
1 school jacket/coat
1 school hat if they have one
1 pair plimsolls
1 pair school shoes
1 PE kit bag

and here is the thread I mentioned

Oooh thank you both SFX and Auntie! People seem to be so organised buying everything NOW - so I'm going for it! Want to get it done and over with and not have to think about it until September

slng · 25/06/2009 19:49

pcworld - if you get the uniforms now they will grow 3 sizes in the summer just to spite you. Thus speaks the voice of last-minute-shopping. I'll get ours two weeks before September. It's unlikely they will grow 3 sizes in two weeks. We got some of our stuff from John Lewis, but not sure if it's worth it. Both pairs of DS1's trousers have holes in the knees ... But they do look better than the ones from Adams ...

Ties for kiddies .

We are also ridiculously excited about DS1's friends coming round. Get your kicks where you can!

Bad news: swine flu, apparently, in DS1's school ...

sfx - what can go wrong with school meetings? They don't tell you anything. I'm still in the dark as to what they do all day in school, apart from having circus workshops .

pcworld · 25/06/2009 20:46

Sing - yup, some sort of flu in dd's school, too, we have had a letter home about swine flu

Yes, good advice there on sizing and I agree! Have bought the uniform in a size up so we should be fine. I just wanted to get it done and dusted and not have to think about it. We'll get the shoes at the end of the summer.

Knackered after the play date! Was great fun but oh, so much extra work now that ds is crawling/staggering and wanting to join in everything that they are doing as well as putting anything at all into his mouth! He was FILTHY by the end of it, covered in soil and water, oh yes and a full nappy too, all quite delightful Still, I did manage to produce a meal AND play with them. On the wine now. dh is out tonight and I am enjoying the silence and only having to have a bowl of cereal for tea, just like the old days
