Prayers still being said in the Recycle house for Nick - glad to hear he is breathing on his own but hoping he wakes up soon. Poor paddle and her Mum, bet Nick would be laughing if he knew as well (he probably does!).

Sorry to hear about your day AN - hope today is better for you (and you get that job). Are you going the AP route next?

Steppie - can so relate to the only doing colours thing! Why do builders seem to think that you know what vottage lights need to go where and what pressure you need to run a shower - I'm a IT consultant, if I knew these things, why would I employ them?

sfx saw your quote on the newsletter - MNet fame at last!

Auntie - saw dishy dentist yesterday. Have my brace fitted in 3 weeks time [exciting].

House move is going slow - nearly pulled out of our dream house when I found out they didn't have broadband but a quick check on bt found out that it was in a broadband area so dream reinstated. Oh and oxo if you're lurking it definitely has a swing in the garden.

MrsRecycle · 21/11/2008 09:41

oh and I meant to say that I found some more photos of our dream house - the sun actually does it a lot more justice. You can see the loft conversion - the surveyor is going to let us know about what we could do with it and draw some draft plans.

sfxmum · 21/11/2008 09:49

good morning all

seriously mrsR gorgeous so envious of garden

steppie do a glossing if you are doing colour, weekly hair masks should help I know how you love the girly stuff

Athene sorry about your day, hope a new job comes along soon as well as good childcare.

bunyan cunning plan hope things are better

is slng off on her bike?

we are trying to recover here but hope to go for run around Kew later

spoke to paddle briefly last night but nothing to add, it is a waiting game now waiting and hoping

slng · 21/11/2008 11:54

slng is not off on her bike. slng is off her rocker.

sfxmum · 21/11/2008 12:09

is that bad?

forgot to add was called aside at nursery yesterday because dd used a swearword
nunspeak from now on though perhaps not the nuns I used to work with, more like troopers they were

AtheneNoctua · 21/11/2008 12:28

So... little SFX is a potty mouth. What did she say? Come on, my ears are not virgin.

The irony is that she probably learned that word at the nursery. Maybe you could ask them why they have been teaching her to sy such things.

MrsRecycle · 21/11/2008 12:32

we knew that already slng

Sfx hope you pleaded ignorance to where she got it from

sfxmum · 21/11/2008 12:37

I think I managed to look suitably shocked and the woman said 'we were very surprised minisfx is so polite, we had a boy recently saying some really bad things so she might have picked it up from him and I'm afraid we just burst out laughing'

so nothing whatsoever with frustrated mummy laden with buggy and shopping in front of broken lift oh no

sfxmum · 21/11/2008 12:38

and she said 'freaking boll*cks'

AtheneNoctua · 21/11/2008 12:58

I have a friend whose then 4 year old said:

child: Mommy can I say say "freakin'"?
friend: ummm, depends how you say it.
child: Mommy's feakin out.
Friend: Yeah.... you can say that.
child: How about "Fricken" aligator
Friend: No!
Child: How about "bucket"?
Friend: Yeah (and then ponders what could be controversial about a bucket)

Few days later....

Child drops something in other room and exclaims "Oh bucket!"

You gotta love them!!

mellow2 · 21/11/2008 13:11

Dd picks up swear words from me. I swear when I'm angry.

I'm doing my best to stop swearing but it's hard work.

AtheneNoctua · 21/11/2008 15:42

Foul mothed babes aside, any more news from paddle. Seems weird I can be so worried about a man I don't even know. But, I just keep hoping and praying for something positive.

sfxmum · 21/11/2008 15:59

have nor hear from paddle today, usually just in the evening, hoping all is well

this has been a long afternoon, dd clearly recovering rest and appetite
can't wait to run out of door in the morning knee be damned(it probably will)

mellow as foreign person swear words in English just don't carry much significance but I can't say them in my native tongue, do ok in latin the fail safe profanity for catholic girls

SJ99 · 21/11/2008 16:19

Hello all

Hope everyone well. Just a quick post from me while DS is out and babs is asleep (bliss moment!)

MrsR- house , looks even nicer than I remembered from last pics

Fingers & toes crossed for Paddle, hope there is some good news soon

Mellow - great news shop is so busy for you. think I will wait til my skin returns to normal before re-ordering

Athena - Sorry to hear about job and nanny, hope you find suitable alternatives soon

Sfx - at minisfx. I know I shouldn't laugh but I do find it funny when they 'innocently' repeat the swear words they hear

Steppie - keep your cool re: builders

Bunyan - enjoy having your mum to stay

SushiMummy · 21/11/2008 16:25

No news from Paddle? Hoping Nick condition is improving. Lots and lots of cyber hugs for Paddle. It must be so very hard.

sfx - lol at your DD's swear word. Must say I'd have burst out laughing, too. DS picks up all sorts of words and gestures. Guess it's part of their growing up process. His fav phrase these days; 'you are nothing/poo-poo/ka-ka' followed by giggles.

Anthene - hope your job/childcare situation improves soon.

MrsR -the house looks lovely!

Mellow - see you tomorrow

Bunyan - totally agree, what's the point of 20% off, indeedy!

steppie - your hair can not be wirier than mine. Like Athene, I use Aveda.

SushiMummy · 21/11/2008 16:26

SJ - x posted. Hope all is well.

mellow2 · 21/11/2008 17:05

Athene - I meant to say, I hope you get the job. It's a shame that your fab nanny is leaving.

SJ - Sure. Good that things are starting to calm down.

Sushi - I'll text you tomorrow morning.

Sfx - I know what you mean. I can't swear in Chinese because I think it's really offensive. I swear in English because it doesn't have any effect on me.

SJ Hi [waves]

SFX PMSL at our DDs language - how funny

I remember asking a whole load of MNers over a couple of years ago and my very polite DD calling one of the MN DCs a "little b*stard" while they played together in the garden

MrsR fab pics of the house

Athene - good luck with the job and finding another great nanny! I don't know what I would do if our CM resigned!!

MrsRecycle · 21/11/2008 18:58

I know the Greek for w**nker if anyone wants it. Hilarious when I was sitting in a taxi in Athens and the driver thought I didn't know he was swearing

mygreatauntgriselda · 21/11/2008 20:49

Hey are we doing a Christmas night out - for our thread - not the mega pan-London one, but one we can stagger home from?

We could do at QCs (as you volunteered ) and each bring a Chrissie food donation, which could be popooed in oven?

Or...we could all just order a big Indian takeaway to share?

mygreatauntgriselda · 21/11/2008 20:50

What do you think QC?

mygreatauntgriselda · 21/11/2008 20:51

What is the Greek word for "s/he who wanks" then?

AtheneNoctua · 21/11/2008 22:00

I may come to a Christmas meet up if it is very cheap. I have a few Chritmas nights out already and the Chrissy budget is burting at the seems. But, could definitely pop round to Kew's or anyone else's house and bring some food. I'm not a qualified chef but I can make a nice salad.

AtheneNoctua · 21/11/2008 22:03

Oh, and I can say sh1t in German.

mygreatauntgriselda · 21/11/2008 22:56

Cheap is good (as the Actress said to the Bishop)

I can make a nice Waitrose ready made something or other to warm up
