Sfx - When is the Halloween parade going to be held?

rosmerta · 24/10/2008 17:19

Mellow, well done on getting the refund

Sj, don't think we'll bother with Halloween this year for ds. Until he's old enough to ask about it/want to do anything I don't really see the point! We'll have sweets though for trick or treaters

We've just spent the afternoon on the train, which was quite nice!

SJ99 · 24/10/2008 17:25

Mellow, great you got a refund

Last year they had a parade etc in Twicks for Halloween from 4pm. When does Kew one start? If it's in the afternoon I might try and take DS but will just decide on the day.

Why did I think letting Van Gogh loose on the paints while I made a lasagne was a good idea? Have just finished clearing kitchen and all painting mess. Couldn't be bothered scrubbing paint off his face, he'll just have to wait til bath time. I keep when I see his face

sillybigsausage · 24/10/2008 18:45

Good morning all!

Kew - That SOAS garden looks interesting.

Had a hair cut this morning. Then planted some bluebells bulb and some thyme. About to plant our plum tree. Hopefully some of them will survive the winter!

sfxmum · 25/10/2008 17:51

my plans to run away from family for the day did not quite work

rosmerta · 26/10/2008 06:59

Bloody clocks changing! Why does my body adjust immediately but not ds's?

sillybigsausage · 26/10/2008 16:21

'Tis very quiet on here!

slng · 26/10/2008 16:25

It is isn't it? It's pretty rainy too. I want a pair of wellies, but can't seem to find any. I suppose garden centres would have them. Half term week this week. What should we do?

sfxmum · 26/10/2008 16:39

apparently we are on for a cold week even the possibility of snow

hi all we seem to have managed a weekend when we both had chunks of time alone, which is nice not to mention necessary

slng I have wellies Kew sell fancy Hunter oner mine are from halfords or something and they are flowery

sfxmum · 26/10/2008 16:40

is is essential gear for the British Summer festival goer

bunyanvillas · 26/10/2008 17:45

Snow hurrah, bring it on!!! Sing, how about Blacks in Richmond for wellies or as SFX said, a garden centre. Uh-oh ds is asleep - "proper asleep" - and it is only 17.44pm wah!!!! Blast those clocks.

slng · 26/10/2008 17:59

Hadn't thought of Kew for wellies. Had in fact been to Black's (in Ealing) yesterday but didn't look for wellies - wanted to get waterproof ponchos for kids. They were very nice but 14.99 each!!! In the end got some from AB Superstore for 1 pound each ... In this financial climate every penny counts!

sfxmum · 26/10/2008 18:16

slng there are entire families kitted out in Hunters out and about Kew/Richmond and those green country jackets as well as, what can only be described 'Lord of the manor' long waterproof usually Barbour and that is just to go to the pub

slng · 26/10/2008 18:43

sfx - all these strange English eccentricities is a minefield for a foreigner. I just want something I can slip on to get to the compost bin, but not too ugly so I can wear it for the school run on a rainy day. And also not too expensive - seems too much to spend 29.99 on this (thought I do like it) just to feed the worms. Or am I being unrealistic? Is that what people pay for wellies and gardening boots!?

sfxmum · 26/10/2008 19:18

some here reasonable prices

SJ99 · 26/10/2008 20:31

Slng - was going to suggest Millets but Sfx beat me to it! I got mine from there in 1994 and they are still going strong. I'm sure I didn't pay more than £10 at the time

When is it going to snow? How exciting!

Poor DS has been teething on and off for past 2wks but he came down with fever at tea time so I put him to bed early Off to bed now myself as I anticipate more night wakings

Have just booked tickets for new Bond film for next weekend, it will be my last cinema trip for a while so baby better still in til after film is over

sillybigsausage · 26/10/2008 20:32

Oooh I like those zebra ones Slng!!!

Funky wellies were such a great invention!!

rosmerta · 27/10/2008 07:30

Morning all, ds been a bit grumpy this weekend I think because of the clocks changing. Am hoping he'll settle down in a couple of days!

Welly talk goes over my head, must admit I've never had a desire to own a pair

Anyway, am off back to the shoe shop at Kew today to take back the shoes we got ds on Sat. And then will probably make the most of what seems to be nice weather & head to the gardens if anyone's around.

mellow2 · 27/10/2008 08:27

Morning everyone,

What a nice morning.

Sausage - those are funky wellies. It makes me want to own a pair although I never have the desire to walk anywhere muddy.

Ros - I've been grumpy with the clocks going back. I used the extra hour to bake both nights over the weekend but got up at the same time so now I'm completely knackered.

I'm going to try and yoga today to re-energise.
