SJ how nice you got to see xoxo&amanda
I can understand how hard it was for you when ds2 had to go through surgery but that puts you in the right track for feeding, so many go undiagnosed causing much heartache.
and yes you do look quite marvellous

best get on with essay deadline in a few hrs
went running did a slow 3miles leg hurt a bit but not the excruciating pain of last Thursday still need to see physio

hope everyone is well and had have a good weekend

Kewcumber · 15/11/2008 11:17

Welcome to the world new babies. November babies are teh best

mygreatauntgriselda · 15/11/2008 15:33

Steppy LOL at you saying SJ looks better having just given birth than you do on a night out!!!

Not true, but very funny never the less!!

mygreatauntgriselda · 15/11/2008 15:34

...hang on a minute - did I miss some cheesecake?

(that is me with my mouth open in anticipation of some cheesecake)

rosmerta · 15/11/2008 17:30

hi all,

sj, glad you're all doing well & that the tongue tie has been sorted. Nice that you got to see oxo & baby as well.

Griselda, due date is 2nd Dec. Am hoping for a homebirth but I do like WM (especially the new birth centre!).

Steppie, lol at your comment! Btw, I still need to post the game to you. Will do that next week if that's ok? Sorry

Sfx, how's the essay going? Have finally got one of mine out of the way, the other two pieces I was trying to get finished are just going to have to wait now.

sfxmum · 15/11/2008 17:41

Ros finished mid afternoon then sent it off via web probably rubbish but that is ok

cheesecake at playgroup?

dh ordered some mince pies already says it is near enough Christmas I expect the Baileys is not far behind

rosmerta · 15/11/2008 18:30

sfx, well done

So where's this playgroup then? I'll come along if there's going to be cheesecake

My parents are down this weekend so have offered to babysit tonight. Think we're going to go see James Bond & hopefully eat as well!

mygreatauntgriselda · 15/11/2008 20:02

..still waiting for some cheesecake

slng · 15/11/2008 22:52

I haven't got pictures of mini-SJ#2 either.

rosmerta · 16/11/2008 05:04

Morning all, woke up & couldn't get back to sleep so decided to come & check MN instead!

Couldn't get into the cinema last night but we had a nice meal instead. Meant dh & I actually had to have a conversation .

Griselda, pop round here, my mum bought a cheesecake last night!

Hmm, is it too early or too disgusting to have some cheesecake now?

mygreatauntgriselda · 16/11/2008 09:55

Ros cheesecake is perfect for 5am!!!!

Thanks SFX delicious!!

If I can get 5 moments to myself I will forward mini-SJ pics

sfxmum · 16/11/2008 12:12

LOL at 5am cheesecake, perfect no children trying to eat your portion

dh in charge of kitchen again this weekend, he cooked a chicken and banana spicy casserole yesterday yum yum can't wait to see what he comes up with tonight

did a foolish thing put some painkiller gel on my leg and went running think it will hurt later

dd has a cold and keeps shouting for tissues but wants dh to wipe her nose

mygreatauntgriselda · 16/11/2008 13:37

Ooops I meant Slng - thanks for virtual cheesecake (the low cal version)

Kewcumber · 16/11/2008 19:34

thanks for email griselda lovely photos.

Have sprained my bloody ankle - slipped on wet patch on kitchen floor. Its just about manageable can weightbear but not walk that well. Grrr

Second loaf was still Quatermass-like but not toobad as I fought back when it started rising beyond the confines of the bread machine anda although it sulked and is a funny shape at least I could turn it out.

Have to say they both tasted great though - bricklike wholemeal no more!

slng · 16/11/2008 19:42

Evening all!

Kew - sympathy for ankle . Well-done on saving planet from monster loaf

I have a raisin-rosemary and a plain loaf and flapjack in the oven and speg bol sauce on the hob at the moment. I don't think poor confused kitchen quite knows what it ought to smell like.

We went swimming this morning. It has taken about three years but DS1 submerged his ears voluntarily and did not cry when splashed on the face. It is progress!

Still no pictures of microSJ. No more cheesecake, low cal or otherwise, for you, Auntie.

At 5am I don't think I would fancy cheesecake. I think only a bowl of hot steaming laksa - not just any old laksa, but the particular version from my home town - would do. Yum.

SJ99 · 16/11/2008 19:51

Hello all

Apologies if you didn't receive pics, not sure what happened but email wasn't delivered for some unknown reason to all recipients. Anyway will post more pics on FB when I get a min.

Last few days have been v. stressful and felt as DS2 lost a bit of weight and was awake loads day & night, he is not up to speed with extracting all the milk yet due to op so was taking the edge of his hunger but not fully satisfying it. I'd been expressing for him for each feed too but it has been exhausting. Went to clinic today and have agreed to mix feed him til his weight goes back up. Fingers crossed this does the trick til his feeding/tongue gets stronger.

It was my b'day yesterday too so we had our 1st round of visitors. Ros - I got Mariocart so will let you know what it's like

Hoep everyone else well. yes please to cheesecake too!

mygreatauntgriselda · 16/11/2008 20:11

SJ bless your little DS - how upsetting and tiring for you - here's hoping his tiny tongue heals and strengthens nice and quickly so you can have many happy feeding hours together this winter

Slng - I couldn't find your e-mail address and cannot open the contact list which was circulated

Cn you e-mail me and I will e-mail the pics back to you? (must cultivate any MN friend who feeds me cheesecake )

Kewcumber · 16/11/2008 20:14

SJ will let you off not receiving pictures given the circumstances but don't do it again.

Would you lke one of my quatermass loaves (just normal brown/wholemeal but unusual shape) sometime next weekend? I can drop it off without staying so you don't need to be polite to us!

Kewcumber · 16/11/2008 20:16

I know no-one wants to hear this ... but DS was on formula fom birth (and not very good formula at that) then weaned onto keffir (soured cows yoghurt) at about 3 months and he seemsnonethe worse for wear so I'm sure mix feeding for a short time to get his weight up will be fine. (Like I'm an expert on newborns!)

sfxmum · 16/11/2008 20:39

SJ I expect it is awfully worrying at the moment but dd did barely had any milk on her first 5 days it was mostly formula, followed but dreadful feeding for a few weeks but in the end well over 2yrs of successful breast feeding

however it works out ds2 will be ok,he is well loved and cared for

slng emailed you

kc sorry about leg, which one is it? if it is the left one we are good for a sac race

sfxmum · 16/11/2008 20:41

this reminds me that dh&dd have been protesting about the lack of baked goods

and btw SJ dh is amazed at my will power resisting that lovely chocolate in the cupboard, he takes it out once in a while to admire it only a few more weeks and I will report back on how lovely it tastes

MrsRecycle · 16/11/2008 21:08

slng kew have just forwarded pics via iPhone so you should get them soon.

Sj what a worrying time for you but don't beat yourself up about mixed feeding that was always the plan with all 3 of mine but the last 2 had other ideas. Sounds like you are getting excellent medical help.

Just on way back from camber gutted that I missed George clooney by 4 hours last week - he was filming on the beach and staying in rye.

MrsRecycle · 16/11/2008 21:11

kew just had a failure on you aol address twice now email me and I'll send you pics

slng · 16/11/2008 21:19

Thanks MrsR and sfx for pics! SJ - lovely pics, especially the one with DS1. Hope DS2 recovers soon. DS1 was mix-fed as well in the very beginning and went on to BF quite happily.

Auntie - have emailed you my email.

mygreatauntgriselda · 16/11/2008 21:56

SJ - that reminds me I mix fed all of mine vey erly on at some point I think and went on to fully BF them all

I think I just did it to give my raw nips a break/get some sleep/I was producing too much milk

I am sure the FF milk will be fine and once the little fella builds up his little tongue muscles again you can increase your own supply again if you so wish

I have to admit I am feeling slightly of you having a newborn to cuddle
