SushiMummy · 17/11/2008 09:20

Morning all.

SJ - your DS2 is soooo cute! Awwww. Hope the days get easier for all of you. My DS was tougue tie (had an op much later), couldn't latch on properly but I really insisted on BF which caused jaudice (not enough milk, obviously) and was told by HV to FF straight away. I expressed till he was three months and gave it up. I know what you are going through. Cyber hugs!

slng - we went swimming on Sat, first time for DS and he loved it!

sfxmum · 17/11/2008 09:21

KC hope leg not too swollen/ painful today

SJ hope everyone is a little more settled take care

sfxmum · 17/11/2008 09:33

Kewcumber · 17/11/2008 09:34

Paddlechick had some very bad news yesterday and wanted me to pass it on to you all.

Her brother fell and fractured his skull and is on a ventilator . He was operated on in the early hours of this morning but prognosis is uncertain at the moment next 48 hours are critical as to his survival and obviously they have no idea at this stage if there is any brain damage.

I think she is off to the hospital this morning after dropping T off and was there yesterday evenbing too.

I'm not sure at this stage if there's anythign we can do but if anyone has any bright ideas let me know.

sfxmum · 17/11/2008 09:35

that explains the praying she was on about thanks KC

SushiMummy · 17/11/2008 09:58

QC - oh, poor paddle and her brother. Hope he makes a full recovery. Do let me know if there's any thing I can do.

How is your ankle, QC? Can you walk?

sfx - have emailed.

Kewcumber · 17/11/2008 10:12

yes walking but slowly - OK on the flat just pianful to bend. Am an old hand at sprains - its a moderate one ie will take baout a week would be my guess but not a huge problme just inconvenient (particularly in light of Paddles brother).

Makes me want to ring my brother and tell him to be careful

SushiMummy · 17/11/2008 10:56

QC - I know. It must be so hard for paddle.

On a ligher note, I went to Jigsaw HQs sale this weekend and discovered it was shoplifters' heaven (not me, obv).

Kewcumber · 17/11/2008 10:58

I saw everyone with their carrier bags and was a bit

Was it any good?

SushiMummy · 17/11/2008 11:05

Got a bit carried away and went there twice. Good quality suits from 60, tops from 10, bottoms from 15, not bad. For some reason, they have other labels (expensive ones) as well. The security was v loose and some just put them on and walked out.

SushiMummy · 17/11/2008 11:06

should have been , can you tell I'm a smiley person?

mellow2 · 17/11/2008 11:30

Sorry to hear about PC's brother.

SJ -It must be really worrying for you. Dd didn' get much milk tillshe was about 10 days old and she lost a lot of weight. Then she wasn't gaining weight properly until about 8 weeks old. But I still managed to breastfeed her till she was almost 2 years old . So I'm sure ds2 will be fine.

MrsR - George Clooney [swooning emoticon]

Sfx - Dd has been protesting about the lack of shortbread in the flat too. I've decided to make some chocolate chip cookies. But I couldn't be asked last week as it's seems so much complicated than shortbread.

Sushi - Sounds like you had fun. Late birthday gift for yourself?

mygreatauntgriselda · 17/11/2008 12:14

Ooooh Jigsaw sale sounds good

Poor Paddle

sfxmum · 17/11/2008 12:24

think will nag dh again tonight he was telling me last night about the winter route home on the bike 'scary' apparently and still he 'forgets' his helmet, told me he probably should not have mentioned the dangers

sushi/KC is the sale place just up the road?

mellow I have some choc chips around waiting for me to bake biscuits but it will have to wait a bit, we decided to keep the house 'treat free' only baking for visitors/ parties, should be ok as we are not here for Christmas

and as for biscuits I think it helps to make loads then freeze reasonable portions sausage style ready to be sliced and baked at short notice

Kewcumber · 17/11/2008 12:28

Paddle brother survived surgery to relieve pressure on his brain but it cannot be performed again if swelling continues - next few hours is therefore critical.

She knows we are all thinking of her

Kewcumber · 17/11/2008 12:29

sfx - its right behind my house (at the end of my garden. If you don;t want to scale over my garden wall - its the turing right before my road coming ffrom cemetary end or turning left after my road coming from M&S end.

SushiMummy · 17/11/2008 12:58

QC How did it happen? Was it an accident? Am praying for paddle's brother.

sfx - the sale has finished. It was just the weekend.

sfxmum · 17/11/2008 13:01

thanks sushi/KC future reference

so sad and worrying about paddle's brother
it is so unpredictable with head injuries

Kewcumber · 17/11/2008 13:03

I'm not sure they know, I just know that he fell - he hasn't regained consiousness as far as I'm aware and because he had no ID it took 15 hours to track down family. He has two teenage children who live with him.

Surviving the surgery is the first step can only hope there are continual improvements.

AtheneNoctua · 17/11/2008 13:54

Oh no.... This sounds terrible.

Lots of love and prayers for paddle and her brother.

mygreatauntgriselda · 17/11/2008 14:01

not

stepfordwife · 17/11/2008 14:56

oh my god, poor paddle, brother and family
praying he'll be OK
