is that a bad thing slng?

I had my mini spree online, needed new running shoes and gloves but was conservative in spending

SushiMummy · 12/11/2008 15:34

sfx - if you are thinking of getting good running shoes, try Asics shop in West End. They have 3D foot measuring machines. Fab.

sfxmum · 12/11/2008 15:48

this weekend in the Observer there was this by WW1 veteran
kinda made me smile and cry but I am soft

sushi those machines are fab there is one at Up&Running in East Sheen although I always feel like an idiot running in a shop

really must do essay really must do essay...

mellow2 · 12/11/2008 17:15

I waited in all day for a courier delivery and it didn't turn up. Driver said he left a card yesterday. But there wasn't one.

Finally I established that it's a replacement driver and then the penny dropped. My parcels never turn up when the regular drivers go on holiday. I wish there was a way you could find out when regular drivers are away. It's so frustrating.

Oxo had a gorgeous 9.1 lbs baby girl, Morris, at 15.42 yesterday!!

She says everyone is tired but very Happy!!!

She thinks SJ is in their too, but is bed bound so she can't investigate

mygreatauntgriselda · 12/11/2008 19:37

Happy birthday Sushi - have a fab day

SFX I love my MBTs - worth considering a pair for your running

Mellow thanks for your texts - I am awaiting a parcel too. Phoned today to complain and they fibbed that the put a card through yesterday!!

sfxmum · 12/11/2008 20:39

MrsRecycle · 12/11/2008 21:12

mellow2 · 12/11/2008 22:37

Congrats, oxo!

rosmerta · 13/11/2008 09:13

congratulations to oxo, thanks for letting us know griselda!

Hope everyone's ok

Actually managed a good night's sleep last night so feel more human than I did yesterday!

sfxmum · 13/11/2008 09:59

good morning all

mellow that is terrible, there is company that I am entirely convinced they have someone going around with 'sorry we missed you cards' so that we have to call them and arrange delivery at set times

I seem to have injured myself which is very frustrating, decided that instead of pushing today I should take it easy and hope it is gone by Saturday
whenever I tried to run properly I was in agony on my right leg

also was looking at reviews of show I decided against going and am very
should know to grab what I want while it is possible really

ok enough must get on and do something happy/ productive/ fun today

hope everyone is well any plans for tomorrow? apparently weather will be good

rosmerta · 13/11/2008 12:03

sfx, sorry about your injury, hope its better soon! Am around in the afternoon but will probably be staying close to home. You're welcome to come round though.

Mellow, hope your delivery turns up, agree it is very frustrating having to wait in for them to not turn up.

stepfordwife · 13/11/2008 12:41

congratulations, oxo
and welcome to the world oxo-bambino

thanks for letting us know, auntie

sfx, i find the war veterans so touching too. especially that handful are the last remaining soldiers who fought WW1. will be sad when not in living memory any more.

as for concerns about not being cheerful enough for dd...if we were all meant to be cheerful all the time we'd be TV show hosts ...pretty good illustratio of TV show host's (forced) smile, eh?
and there's nothing wrong with your sense of humour..

mellow, what a pain. it's tedious wasting time waiting for no-show deliveries, isn't it?

nipped for a coffee with my neighbour and got caught up in a TAMBA coffee morning...felt a fraud because i haven't got twins. but got to hold babies, drink cawfee, eat croissant and avoid work..what more could a gal want?
right, have tidied up for the cleaner, so better do some work now..
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 13/11/2008 12:42

stepfordwife · 13/11/2008 12:52

covering herself in case oxo-bambino is indeed called morris morris...

stepfordwife · 13/11/2008 12:59

what did you do for your birthday, sushi?

(can you tell i'm still avoiding work..oops heeeeere comes the TV gameshow host )

MrsRecycle · 13/11/2008 13:11

get back to work Steppie! I wasn't a big DC fan but Quantum certainly made me one.

Hope the new babies are all doing well.

Keep on meaning to post and give you all a laugh. Dh's 40th birthday was brilliant - Indian and pub crawl round Rye, watching the fireworks/bonfire procession then back to Camber to dance the night away to the Drifters (or one of them!). All 12 of us completely drunk - dh fell over in the mud and did a doggy crawl trying to get out. We got to our van and couldn't find the keys so we walked round to our dfs' van and all of us had to cram into one van for the night. In the morning, we were trying to work out where the keys were (mud-bound?) and dh's df picked his jacket up (same as dhs) and heard the keys rattling. So all along they had been on the table whilst we slept on sofa/floor. The funniest thing was, as dh had picked up df's jacket by mistake, it was covered in mud from his swimming session - df cried when he saw it. Hilarious...

mellow2 · 13/11/2008 13:21

Sfx - Sorry you hurt your leg.

I cancelled the order. The driver who promised me he would deliver it today isn't actually working today. . Anyway, nuff of my courier problems.

Steppie - I'm also shirking work this minute. I nagged asked dh for ages to finish development work on the online shop and now he's finally finished, I can't get off my arse to launch/market it to my customers.

I think the weather is to blame.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 13/11/2008 15:39

another one shirking

at least the veg casserole is in the oven and I have written a bit of an essay plan

spent some time looking for advice on leg business, apparently one of the most common things to happen once a person starts increasing mileage, pilates tonight I think

mrsR
must think of something for my 40th maybe spa girl day + date with dh + family do got to spread it out
Paris / New York for wedding anniversary?
whatever dh wants for his 40th which apparently at this point is 'stay in bed with lots of chocolate

SushiMummy · 13/11/2008 16:23

Congrats, oxo.

steppie - it was just a normal day really, except for a box chocolate plus cards, the best part was I had a chat with my friend over an hour on the phone.

MrsR - your DH's 40th sounds great. I did a surprise 40th do for my DH (before DS was born) in Tokyo. Our good friend worked for a TV production company and they made a 'this is your life' type programme for him. When we watched it together, DH started crying, he was so moved, bless him.

Kewcumber · 13/11/2008 16:34

I love it when men get all emotional about that kind of thing - makes me feel that they're quite normal really. Underneath.

mellow2 · 13/11/2008 17:56

MrsR -

Sushi - That must have been really moving.

Kew - I agree.

Alright, less MN. I best start making dinner now.

ComeOVeneer · 13/11/2008 18:26

HI all. RL encroaches on my mn time more and more these days. Am busy busy with school stuff and cakes (had a quiz night lasat week at school and raised £900, in the throes of organising the christmas fair in just over 2 weeks, and todaay/tomorrow I am making a 3 tiered cake for MIL's 60th for 70 people for Saturday).

Thankfully I will get a rest the following weekend as I am of to Lille with 3 friends for a long weekend to visit the christmas market, good food/wine etc.

Fab news about oxo. 9lbs 1 pah, ds was over 10lbs . Any news from sj?

Hope everyone is well.

Kew I will stop very briefly on Sat to drop off the slow cooker but will have to do coffee another day as we will be in a bit of a rush and we are hoping ds will nap the whole journey so he won't be grumpy/tired at the party later that evening, if we stop too long he will wkae.

slng · 13/11/2008 19:37

I am SO cross - I can't find the flipping sellotape! DS2 has ripped DS1's library book. Shall I continue being cross and hunt for the sellotape or shall I just put 5 pounds aside to pay the school? How much is reducing high blood pressure worth? Why must the cleaner TIDY up? I want a CLEANER, not a TIDY-UPPER. I am so unreasonably cross ... AND I've got a cold. >
