thanks, sushi
well boiler in, giving hot water (hurrah!)
but heating still not working
i was screeching like a fishwife discussing with dh how feckin freezing bracing it was and why-couldn't-they-get-it-fixed-and-i-reckon-they-broke-it-in-first place...
when i turned around to see boss builder at my shoulder

now consoling myself with a cuppa and a jam doughnut

not sure about the pool this weekend, would involve major deforestation and, to be frank, (whoever he is) not sure i'm up to the task...

mygreatauntgriselda · 11/11/2008 17:38

Sushi we will be at the pool late Saturday morning (DCs have lessons). Not sure I will get in though!! Although the Fat Toddler has a wonderful new 2nd hand swimming cozzie kindly donated by QC

QC - lets cheer those platelets on - come on you platelets - go forth and multiply!!

Steppy - what was the question (having asenior moment here )

Anyone got news from the Labour Wards yet???

...feeling tres flu-like here which is a very plausible reason for not going swimming tonight

stepfordwife · 11/11/2008 18:01

ah, hello, auntie..
hmm, not sure i can remember either..

are the dcs moving up through the groups at swimming?
ds 1 and ds2 have been in the same group for yonks..

well, know you're all bored to tears with my boiler..
but (roll of drums)..
..and then there was heating..

know she was always banging on about only needing four hours sleep a night, but didn't maggie thatcher also say being cold made you work more productively

blimey, might even have a bath tonight...
steady on

stepfordwife · 11/11/2008 18:28

blimey, it's so hot and stuffy now..
maybe maggie was right

sfxmum · 11/11/2008 19:40

what was Maggie right about?

reminds me FIL went around with a I Love Maggie sticker in his car because that is MIL name, or so he says, MIL always mortifies when he tells the story

sushi not sure what we will do this weekend although weekend swimming is generally dh's job

steppie good to hear heating is fixed, do you think it was because you got mad?

sfxmum · 11/11/2008 19:41

meant to read always looked mortified

mellow2 · 11/11/2008 19:54

Steppie - Hurrah! Glad your boiler is working again. I would be screeching too if the boiler broke in this weather.

Kew - Good news re: platelets. Hope the side effects go away soon.

sorry Ros meant to answer your question, short course/module should be done by Christmas BUT have assignment due by Saturday at the latest and can't quite seem to get it going

kep finding online distractions or feel like should just go to bed with my new book

mygreatauntgriselda · 11/11/2008 20:56

Oh Gawd - Steppy has gone all Back to Basics on us!!

Steppy - DCs in 121 lessons now as learn much more so no ifdea which group they would be in, although I did get frustrated with the size of the learning groups and their slow progress in them due to number of students

SFX LOL at Maggie sticker

Distraction from a task you are avoiding is funny isn't it - that's about the only time I get the hoover out - when I am avoising doing a task even more dreadful

rosmerta · 11/11/2008 20:56

sfx, ikwym about distractions. I've got a bar of chocolate in the fridge that I'm not eating until I've got this piece of work finished. The rate I'm going though it will still be there next year!

Kewcumber · 11/11/2008 21:27

where is news of babies?

slng · 11/11/2008 21:43

I heard a program on the radio this morning about skiving. Apparently it's because you've got something better to do.

Griselda - we usually have spotless bathroom when I have tasks to do that I'd rather not do!

Kew - are you expecting xoxo and sj to be MNing while having a baby? They might not allow laptops in there you know. Still, you'd have thought they'd get their respective dh on the case!

sfxmum · 11/11/2008 21:51

I am currently reading my most excellent book in the hope it will shed some light on my predicament, it being about brain processes and all

they really should be blogging the birth don't you think?

Kewcumber · 11/11/2008 22:59

no not whilst hving babies - but shortly thereafter.

stepfordwife · 11/11/2008 23:08

...surely it was part of their birth plans?

stepfordwife · 11/11/2008 23:08

...surely it was part of their birth plans?

stepfordwife · 11/11/2008 23:08

oops

Kewcumber · 12/11/2008 09:43

yes both birth plans

sfxmum · 12/11/2008 10:54

am quit tired but managed 3miles today, and btw am officially under 11st for the first time since I had dd

SushiMummy · 12/11/2008 11:31

sfx - wow, less than 11 st? well done you!

griselda - might see you at the pool on Sat, then.

steppie - glad you have the heating back on.

sfx was right, it's my birthday!

stepfordwife · 12/11/2008 12:05

happy birthday, sushi
are you going out this evening?

sfx..that's fab. well done. must be something in the running lark then, i guess

has anyone seen burn after reading? might take dh to see if before he escapes the madness goes to mumbai on sunday. he'd probably prefer to see the bond movie, tho..

can't wait to crack this workload over next few weeks so can go out and have fun

have a lovely afternoon, all
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 12/11/2008 12:11

this may be more relevant to older dcs, but does anyone else sometimes get the distinct impression they're somehow disappointing their dcs?

ds1 always seems to be on the verge of a heavy sigh everytime he asks me what's for dinner ('that's not how dad does it" ), if i'm *still working, do i know some obscure fact about some obscure pre-historic mammal.....et, etc, etc

if only i lived up to my posting name, eh?

mellow2 · 12/11/2008 13:13

Hello,

I can't wait to find out the newborns too!

Happy birthday - Hope you're doing something nice!

steppie I only have feeling like that if I feel low but for some unspecified reason, occasionally I worry am not cheerful enough but hey that is how I am
and also dd know that there are mummy skills and daddy skills, quite apart from gender equality for example daddy likes ironing mummy doesn't

I have come to understand I am more relaxed and far more patient that I give myself credit for
who knows what this will be like when she grows up

slng · 12/11/2008 14:22

Went on a shopping spree in Richmond
