Sfx, sorry about restless night. Re tickets, it would depend on how long special guest is going to be on for. Btw, sent you a text about meeting up today but don't worry if you're not up for it.

Bunyan, have fun, hope you find the coffee shop!

Kewcumber · 03/11/2008 09:32

had vicarious bad news over the weekend from our Irish adoption mates who's son was Daniel's mate from 3 months. They went off to florida in Ovtober and were staying with more of our adoption ganag there when they got word that her younger brother had gone into casualty with stomach pains and diagnosed with stomach cancer. He lived just three weeks

I don't think he was even 40 yet.

sfxmum · 03/11/2008 09:39

KC that is so sad

ros just saw saw text I think it would suit actually thanks good timing I think just after our breakfast

about guest spot even if it is a song and I manage to be right up front it would be worth it

slng · 03/11/2008 09:39

Morning!

Back to school today. Cleaner gone awol

Bunyan - I'm looking forward to Christmas only because it's end of term. I've already bought ds's christmas presents! Bits of it were going to be bribes for ds1 to stop thumb-sucking, but I don't think our hearts are in it, really. Anyway, have fun freezing in park. All parks should have coffee shop by law. If you vote me in as president of the United States I'll make sure that happens all over the world and bomb those places that don't comply.

Talking about christmas shopping, who is venturing/has ventured to Westfield? Must go and work really really hard now so I can skive off and go one weekday!

sfx - what else can £44 buy you?

slng · 03/11/2008 09:40

Kew

SJ99 · 03/11/2008 10:07

Morning all

Kew - that is sad news.

I found out last week my friend's son was diagnosed with autism I can't stop thinking about it, he's such a lovely little boy, same age as DS

Bunyan - well done on cake , enjoy the park hope not too cold

Mellow - now have recipe for you, will email later

Ros - hope DS head a bit less sore today

Sfx - at parkin recipe indeed. I have Casino Royale (or Cafe Royal as babysitter kept calling it!) if you want to borrow sometime. So have you decided on tickets? Give us a clue who guest is...

Got to wait in for deliveries today, I too have finished my b'day/xmas shopping

sfxmum · 03/11/2008 10:25

far far too embarrassed

dh makes fun of me over that one

about autism this is the age when there is a diagnosis, do they know where within the spectrum he falls? makes a huge difference

slng sensible but not me

best get dd dressed she is currently marrying the teletubbies

MrsRecycle · 03/11/2008 10:30

awful news KC so young as well. sj that is terrible - it makes you greatful for the hand you have been blessed doesn't it.

I'd love to go to Westfield as well. Shall we make the next meet-up a shopping one .

dh might be made redundant which could turn out for the best for us. They've upped the offer on our house, but not much. We put in a low offer on the Rye house but its been rejected so we're in the negotiating stages at the moment - actually should say "I'm"! How stressful.

Right must dash and get dh's 40th birthday party finalised for this Saturday..

slng · 03/11/2008 10:44

MrsR - just checked westfield opens quite late, so perhaps a shopping trip in the evening is not entirely impossible! But i think I prefer skiving off work Have to get dh's birthday present, and more christmas presents.

SushiMummy · 03/11/2008 10:46

Morning all.

DS is a lot better and back at nursery today but I'm leaving work early to pick him up to make sure he's not too wiped out.

QC - v sad news.

MrsR - fingers crossed for quick sale/purchase of your house.

sfx - is it one of 80s bands?

sj - sorry to hear about your friend's son. Thought they'd wait till school age to diagnose Autism. Kids' ability varies at this age, no?

SJ99 · 03/11/2008 10:49

MrsR - does sound stressful at your end. Good luck with house negotiations, hope it works out in your favour

Sfx - I didn't ask too many questions as my friend was v.upset understandably. She said they all cried for a few weeks but are coming to terms with it now and have started telling people the news

Would love to go to Westfield too . The ads do it make it look v. enchanting!

rosmerta · 03/11/2008 13:58

I know someone who's been to Westfields already, apparently very clean & shiny

Kew & Sj, sorry to hear about your friends news

Sfx, nice to see you & dd today! I had to google the concert as you got me all intrigued. Worst thing is I don't really know their music so don't know if it is that embarrassing or not .

sfxmum · 03/11/2008 14:15

SJ about autism it is not life threatening as such but it is difficult to deal with in not least because there are no known causes. also I expect a family always mourns the child they expected to have but no longer do.
Still I would say early intervention and specialist care is key, am not fun of 'mainstreaming' in this case, it is very individual in the way it affects people. the problem is very good care is hard to come by as it is expensive and really needs to be very 1:1 intensive sessions IMO
they have a battle on their hands

mrsR I hope things get less stressful soon, good luck with the 40th bash plans.

Ros lovely to catch up, dd wanted to leave soon after and we walked slowly home
you might have the wrong show but tell no one just in case music is fine no factory pop involved

sfxmum · 03/11/2008 14:16

not a fan that should be

slng · 03/11/2008 14:16

Ros - won't be clean and shiny after my lot's been there

stepfordwife · 03/11/2008 14:16

..back from dagenham..

sfxmum · 03/11/2008 14:18

should have taken Proust it took longer than I though

stepfordwife · 03/11/2008 14:22

hello everyone
have skimmed thread while dd wrecks room files for me

kew and SJ, sorry about your respective friends' sad news

mrs r - sorry about job, but fab about windfall
sausage - ds2 and dh were trick 'n'treating after a party in your road - told me all about the dalek and tombstone
hope dcs all getting better

had a stinking cold ;last week but spent a few days at my ma's to escape the dust
dh and i even snuck in a night at a (relatively) posh hotel we got in lastminute.com
i just lay in bed drinking lemsip, etaing chocolate, reading mags and watching daytime TV.
at one point i even recall a conversation with dh
felt like shite, but dragged myself to the bar for a drink in the evening. churlish not to..

back to school today (siiiiiiiiiiiiighhh)

toodlepip

stepfordwife · 03/11/2008 14:23

.next time, sfx..
(waves back)

bunyanvillas · 03/11/2008 14:55

KC, sorry to hear that news, it's very sad and shocking.

Mrs R, was good to see you, enjoyed the cuppa and chat! Am keeping everything crossed for you.

We went to Kew Gardens this morning, it was deserted Off now on the school run. Having a very bad hair day and it is just about to get worse

MrsRecycle · 03/11/2008 16:17

lovely seeing you bunyan as well.

have just sold our house - came back with a much better offer (agent even managed to get 5k over our ceiling price!)...

Can't keep the smile off my face - am so so happy...now waiting for Rye agents to get back to agree our offer...Then you'll hear the cheers in Richmond!

SJ99 · 03/11/2008 16:21

Have booked hairdresser appointment for Fri as won't know when I'll get time to go after that

Steppie - sorry to hear you've been under the weather, at least you could indulge yourself a little in posh hotel

Sfx - my friend said that they were looking into various programmes for their son, early days yet

Sushi - glad miniSushi is better. Am thinking of sending DS tomorrow as he does seem loads brighter today if somewhat tired this afternoon.

Have my last check up tom too. Can't quite get my head round that this is my last week with DS just the two of us. Am but also

SJ99 · 03/11/2008 16:22

Great news MrsR, well done

MrsRecycle · 03/11/2008 16:22

steppie in my excitement forgot to say - glad you managed to get away with dh last week - lastminute is great isn't it? Sorry about the cold though, hope you are managing to shift it.

slng - late night shopping at Westfield - sounds like a good idea.

MrsRecycle · 03/11/2008 16:23

sj - this last week with just you and ds is a very special one - I remember it with just me and dd1. Cherish it.
