hello bla bla bla

slng, i would have but just got a new one. maybe freecycle?

thanks for all good wishes, dd had a good night and whilst not 100% she is okay to be with CM whilst I am at work.

so i probably ought to do some work.

kew, hope arm is better soon.

susie, hope you're okay. sorry i couldn't help out.

CoV, glad to see you are seeing the positive side of DH's diagnosis. Can understand his being a bit down about it tho, I reacted very badly to the gestational diabetes news. Another up side to his having to keep an eye on his diet might actually be an improvement in is psoriasis and PA. He's lucky he's married to you tho because I am sure you will be turning out gourmet healthy meals quick smart - could be a new sideline to the cakes?

sfx, hope dd is okay today after her scream night. interesting that she's not keen on coming into your bed after co-sleeping. dd is the same and it totally de-bunks the ant-co-sleepers who trot out the old "she'll be in your bed until she leaves home" line

mrsR, good on DS and here's hoping for a dry pants week for you! good to speak earlier, forgot to ask about the job. any news?

catchya all a bit later then

rosmerta · 23/09/2008 10:26

hi all,

Cov, sorry to hear about dh's diagnosis, hope it can be controlled easily.

Sfx, hope the school visit goes well.

Susie, sorry I missed your posts, no advice about your dh I'm afraid. I guess you know what's best for you and dd in your heart. Also, hope your back's feeling better today.

Kew, glad you're starting to feel a little better!

Sj, fancy trying to meet up again this week? I'm around Thursday but without the car. And anyone else of course!

xoxo · 23/09/2008 10:33

Hi all, just popping in to say hello, with mop in hand and peg on nose.
Bug is going around kids school, so have two little cherubs puking like drunken sailors into individual bowls.

Funnily, little son is being worse (man flu is nature, not nuture), dd just wanted to make sure she had a pink bowl.

I really miss coffee and wine.

xoxo · 23/09/2008 10:35

and my feet have swollen so much they look like hocks of ham

rosmerta · 23/09/2008 10:36

lol xoxo, I was struggling back from King's X last night with swollen feet & shoes cutting in!

stepfordwife · 23/09/2008 12:23

hello all
how you all doing?

kew, what did doc say abt arm?
since the dressing-up sesh, dd keeps going on about doctor dan-dan
feel free to chuck him over (not literally) at any point for a play if you want to sleep catch up on stuff

paddle, glad dd is better. it's such a dilemma when they're ill and you've got a big week on at work, isn't it? you feel so torn.

susie, hope your back is a bit better, re dh, only you can truly know what to do, sometimes people aren't ready to make a decision yet, but that time will come. one thing for sure i know about ultimatums - you've got to mean 'em! (easier said than done, i know, when you're emotionally involved)

COV, sorry about dh's diagnosis. dh has type 2 diabetes (started off as type 1) and my sister was diagnosed with type 2 about 6 years ago.
obviously, you've got to keep an eye on it, certain health risks are higher, but both are absolutely fine and doesn't affect day-to-day life.

A low GI diet would be your dh's best bet - which is really healthy for everyone anyway, isn't it? and you'll be fab at coming up with scrummy food for him.

dd loving nursery which i'm so relieved about - she's there until 1pm this week (they run a lunch club) then next week starts her 3 full (school hour) days. but just doing a morning sesh on fridays...hey, a gal's got to keep her social life, eh?
right, better do some work.
toodlepip

mellow2 · 23/09/2008 13:15

COV - I meant to say that I'm sorry to hear about your dh's diabetes. A number of my relatives on my dad's side are diabetic and it does require a strict diet.

Steppie - I'm sure you're really pleased that dd has settled in all right.

Well I picked dd up from her first full session at pre-school and she's absolutely fine and that makes me a happy camper!

mellow2 · 23/09/2008 13:21

Paddle - Glad dd is better. Good luck with the big week at work.

sfxmum · 23/09/2008 13:28

sorry about vomiting bugs and assorted maladies it really has started feeling like autumn.

quick note on school visit
the head said that given last years panic about boundaries etc many people did not put them down as first choice and they have had a place in reception class free for the first time ever
I really liked the school btw

sfxmum · 23/09/2008 13:48

paddle was thinking that too about co sleeping myths etc.

steppie&mellow good to know LO's are doing well in the new settings

tomorrow dh will do first drop off at nursery so I expect dd to make more of a fuss

OP posts:
mellow2 · 23/09/2008 13:55

Sfx - Which school did you visit?

stepfordwife · 23/09/2008 13:56

sfx and paddle, re co-sleeping, but i fear i am the "she'll be in your bed until she leaves home" poor sap case study, i'm afraid..
it's on the 'to do' list....sigh.....
totally down to me, at mo just can't be arsed to do that trooping her back to bed thing throughout the night

glad you likd the school. my neighbour's boys go there and she thinks it's great. does that mean dd has got a place hopefully then? (fingers crossed)

mellow, glad you dd was Ok at nursery, too. it's lovely to see them enjoying it, isn't it?

sfxmum · 23/09/2008 14:08

mellow visited the one at the end of my road next to the nursery

steppie it is good to know certainly the impression I got. talked to another mum and there were 3 couples with small children visiting as well, all bi lingual apparently the school had about 30odd languages represented last year.
the visit group had French, Dutch and Greek

Sing, if you have no takers for the slow cooker, a good friend of mine would love one if it's still up for grabs.

Off to Tesco now for weaning stuff - so that'll be a load of avocados, banana and similar then!

Taking it very easy this week and we are all much happier. But still hoping to arrange a few MN meet-ups soon(ish).

Feeling the need to start getting organised - ie - fill the freezer! Label clothes for nursery! Plan ahead for half terms etc!!! Cripes, welcome to life for the next 18 years eh?

slng · 23/09/2008 14:32

Bunyan - slow cooker still stewing at home so your friend is welcome to it. Let's arrange something when I can breath again - trying to get all kinds of things done before lectures starts next week. I don't seem to have your contact details but I think you are probably somewhere on my way to work.

sfxmum · 23/09/2008 15:03

why is it that the day before I have to take pictures for my new passport I get a cold? so it will dark circles under eyes and red nose

ComeOVeneer · 23/09/2008 15:09

sfx, passport photos never look good. At least you have an excuse! Hope you aren't feeling too lousey.

sfxmum · 23/09/2008 15:17

good point COV feel ok just not keen on constant sneezing and foggy head feel like going man flu way and take to bed

btw caught up with Merlin yesterday and I though it was amusing, lets see how it turns out

rosmerta · 23/09/2008 15:26

sfx, I saw part of the GB's speech, had to turn over before my cyncism levels overloaded! Hope you're feeling a little better

mellow2 · 23/09/2008 15:28

Sfx - Hope you feel better soon. Take care.

Paddlechick666 · 23/09/2008 17:23

sfx, it's the way of the universe. i got my passport photos taken when i was at a swank city meeting so looked fabulously grown up and gorgeous.

went to passport office with what turned out to be the most awful tonsilitis i have ever had and they rejected my pics so had to have more done on the spot!

am home early with dd again. mid-presentation CM calls to say dd is completely white and listless.

re-jigged the presentation immediately, was supposed to do 1 today and 1 tomorrow so decided to do my "section" on both vendors in one go today negating need to go in tomorrow!

raced thru it with a bunch of bemused men who didn't really seem to get that i really have to go soon!!!!!

anyways, she seems okay now. no more vomit and wants fish n chips for tea

will keep her off tomorrow and DM has her thursday, hopefull will knock it on the head.

might be around tomorrow if you don't mind possible germs. i still think she's just pretty tired out and having a growth spurt etc.

Kewcumber · 23/09/2008 17:28

slng - can I outrank Bunyans friend for slow cooker? Would like to try one not sure you will want to offer when I was over a week late dropping my phone off...

GP added another AB to the current mix of steriods, two existing AB's and antacid - flucloxcillin (sp?) to complicate matters steriodsa are 6 tablets once a day before food, antacid 1 tablet twice a day, two differnt AB's one three times a day after food and new AB four times a day on an EMPTY stomach. My head hurts! When do I find the time in that lot for an empty stomach?!

Helpfully the pharmacist dispensed them and raised an eyebrow "You're not going to feel good on all of these", yeah thanks for that . She also helpfully suggested I try not to take them all at the same time - because with that time table its likely I'll be taking them all together isn;t it!

Think I need to hire a personal assistant for at least a week.

Kewcumber · 23/09/2008 17:29

Paddle picked up a pile of phone numbers for dance lessons for DD - mostly probably in the week but perhaps some either sat or when your DM has her.

rosmerta · 23/09/2008 17:34

Paddle, we'll be around in the afternoon if you want to wait & see how dd is

ComeOVeneer · 23/09/2008 17:34

Kew I have a small slowcooker which I used to use for dh and I (have upgraded to a bigger one for the 4 of us) would that be more use to you than slng's big one?
