Paddle, what exactly happened with Kew? Did she collapse or something? Do they have any idea what has made her platlets drop so drastically?

MrsRecycle · 18/09/2008 07:25

oh paddle that is good news it means her body is finAlly managing to reproduce platelets. Does sound like she'll be home in the next couple of days. Will ring her a bit later on.

rosmerta · 18/09/2008 07:54

I'm ok thanks Paddle. Should hopefully find out today when the funeral is.

Thanks for the updates on Kew, can someone text me her new number & I'll give her a call tomorrow, thanks. Or is it on the list?

rosmerta · 18/09/2008 08:13

Susie, just remembered you were asking about West Mid hospital. I've been there to give birth & had an op there as well, seems good to me. Staff generally nice but that's only from a patient's side, don't know what they'd be like to work for. Probably worth having a look & a chat with someone there.

sfxmum · 18/09/2008 09:07

good morning all

paddle thanks for update

dd was coughing and sneezing all night but wants to go to pre school this morning, no temp so that is ok. I could do with a nap

susie West Mid I gave birth there thought it was understaffed, it is a teaching hospital with all that it implies, afaik some departments work better than others but that is pretty much the case everywhere isn't it?

Lovely morning, isn't it ladies!

paddle- thanks for the updates on Kew. We are very happy to take Gherkin-kun to Gymboree followed by lunch on Sat. I try to visit Kew tomorrow, hopefully we can arrange something then.

SushiMummy · 18/09/2008 09:43

BTW, I'll be at the hospital 5-ish tomorrow, I'll get some books/mags/choccies to ease her boredom. Can someone email me with Kew's moby number, please?

Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 10:01

MrsR, yep it's good news but I'm not sure that she's producing the platelets herself or if it's due to the transfusion. They test again today.

Could you send Sushi the mobile number? If not I will try but am restricted to iPhone today as in office.

Talking of which, it's a rather buoyant atmosphere here today. I think it's very exciting altho many challenges ahead.

dd told me today "when I am a big girl I will wear a suit and go to work Mummy. And my job will be spending money!!!" loving her aspirations

life is getting harder with her advancing comprehension and ability to express herself. no longer can i brush her off with vague assurances.

DM is away so she has an extra day at CM today which heralded "I really don't know why I have to go to CM day after day Mummy." cue major dose of working mother guilt

SJ99: hurrah - I'm kingston too. I know you're not doing spoilers, but shall I keep these baby clothes or give them away (you can whisper..). I'm so happy. I don't know anyone else who is pregnant; am feeling rather old to be preggy, and slightly embarassed, like we've been caught doing naughties - at our age .

MrsR: Rye is gorgeous. We'd love to move, have been v close three times in teh last year or so but it's fallen through for job reasons each time. We're doing a big push now though, really really want to move out so we can afford to live in a house with more room and a garden (with tree to climb, and a swing). ds wants a house with a mousehole, as he wants a pet and I'm denying it on grounds of space Congrats on getting headhunted. fab news.

Must go and keep up with baby arrangements and all those jobs that need doing before our lives change forever too sooon.....

slng · 18/09/2008 10:18

There is an eminently climbable tree in the school playground. DS1 says teacher said he is not to climb it. When teacher's not there should I turn a blind eye?

missEdith · 18/09/2008 10:44

dropped dd off at pre school, snot monster coughing but stayed without a problem

best get on with studying

sometimes I wonder if dd missed space but suppose it is hard to miss what you don't know, maybe because I grew up with lots of space to run around in, tree climbing and general mischief making worm soup and mud cakes etc

not all bad then

ComeOVeneer · 18/09/2008 10:55

Morning al. Lovely sunny day isn't it! well all my LO's are safely deposited (dd school, ds nursery and dh train station). I now have until 3.30pm all to myself . I have just spent the last hour updating my calendar/diary with all of the children's activities/parties/school events. I use a different colour for each of us to see clearly who is doing what. Mine is decidely sparse . I guess that's what happens when you are a parent! Although it does peeve me a touch when dh just announces he is going out for dinner etc and therefore won't be home. I on the other hand have to check if he will be home in order for me to go out. OH well.

Speaking of going out, I doubt I will make it to any meet-ups atm unless I pay for a babysitter, as dh has gone manic at work (was home after midnight the last 2 nights). The current credit climate means a huge increase in work for him (seems sad that he can only do well at work by others misfortune - he is a corporate insolvency/bankrupcy lawyer).

Hope Kew continues to improve and gets home soon. Hope it isn't upsetting her DS too much. I am quite now after the cake do, but he doesn't really know me so I doubt I could be of much use helping out in that respect. However if there are any other practical things I can do please ask her.

Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 11:07

kew is back on her old mobile number but 'has a blank memory'. I'll ignore the opportunity for sarcastic comment and attribute the blank memory to her SIM/phone!
Please can you text her with your name so she can get her numbers organized again.
I feel slightly anxious that I have discovered an ex is working for a company I am working very closely with.

sillybigsausage · 18/09/2008 11:16

CoV there is plenty of room in my freezer !

Paddle Is Kew's current moby number on the contact list as I do not have one for her?

SJ99 · 18/09/2008 11:23

Hello all

Glad Kew is starting to make a recovery, hurray. Hopefully she'll be home before she knows it.

Xoxo - will email you

Sfx - IKWYM I miss DS at preschool too, wish I could be a fly on the wall to see what he did but it is nice to be able to get on with stuff.

Absolutely crap night's sleep all round. I went to see Amanda last night who is doing well. I got into bed about 11.30pm and then couldn't settle at all due to a certain wriggle monster somersaulting all night. Just when I was about to drop off DS seemed to wake up on the hour 2am onwards. We all finally went to sleep about 6am and woke about 10amish. Defo a go slow day today, a taste of life to come methinks
Sorry again Ros to cancel. Sorry Susie was thinking of meeting you too but I best just stay at home today

sfxmum · 18/09/2008 11:27

SJ did she have the baby? got confused with who was expecting when

OP posts:
SJ99 · 18/09/2008 11:33

She is due 3 days before me and Xoxo at Kingston too, could be quite a party in there!

Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 11:50

okay, should I be concerned that dd's pre-school have just called to discuss my request to change days.

the call started wtih "don't worry, there's no emergency." and ended with "she's having a good morning."

dd doesn't attend pre-school on a Thursday and never has.

ComeOVeneer · 18/09/2008 11:54

, did you point out that dd isn't actually there! TBH I would be a trifle concerned about that!

sfxmum · 18/09/2008 11:59

I would not be very happy tbh sounds careless and distracted not the impression they should be giving

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 12:01

didn't get the chance! in their defence, it was the "admin" person as opposed to the hands on staff iyswim.

think they're just a bit dippy. especially as the day change i am requesting is from a Weds to a Thurs!

rosmerta · 18/09/2008 12:07

Paddle, was it definitely dd they were referring to? Perhaps they got the number wrong?

Sj, don't worry about today. Ds was up early so we've just stayed local with the toy library.

Bunyan, hope you're ok as well.

Glad Kew seems to be doing better, fingers crossed she's home soon.

Xoxo, I'm expecting too, due Dec 2 but having homebirth, well theoretically! The mw did warn me that if they were busy then I'd have to go in!

sillybigsausage · 18/09/2008 12:20

Paddle is the change is from a Wed to Thurs and the admin person rang, I wouldn't be so worried. She probably just mis-read someone's writing.

Its a bit on she commented that DD is having a good morning though - ? Why would she say that?

If it was me I'd probably wring the person back and politely question why she said that

SushiMummy · 18/09/2008 14:25

Just had text from Kew saying the platelet counts went down to 10 and she's having bone marrow biopsy. Am deffo going to see her tomorrow.

sfxmum · 18/09/2008 14:27

yes hear the same I hope she gets some answers soon, anyone going today?
