gawd! 2 hour naps are a dream LOL. dd doesn't get a nap when she's with me unless it's a car snooze! CM still gets her to sleep during the day and i pay the price for that at bedtime!

rosmerta · 18/09/2008 20:51

slng, isn't cottage cheese the sort of thing you put on ryvitas?!

sfx, I'm happy to tape it on sky tonight & you're welcome to watch it here. What is it? [nosy]!

rosmerta · 18/09/2008 20:51

paddle, the naps are becoming less often now, I'm clinging onto them a bit though!

sfxmum · 18/09/2008 20:59

thanks ros and paddle I really just wanted the dvd's as have watched both shows but really really wanted to keep them on my pc
its the Four Sessions repeats of PJ Harvey and Damien Rice

celeb bit did you know I spoke to Polly on the phone once? she is a mate of a mate of mine I was just answering his phone and she thought she had the wrong number

hope LO's actually sleep tonight ,dd even had a nap today, she never has naps! but fell asleep straight away tonight must be knackered

slng · 18/09/2008 20:59

I have eaten dinner and feel slightly more alive now.

I bought cottage cheese because I've never had it before ... but it's stayed in the fridge three days now and I haven't dared to open it.
sfx can you just dump some on bread and eat it?
We've got some of that lovely multigrain bread. Would it be suitable as part of a packed lunch?

SJ99 · 18/09/2008 21:09

Sfx - I can also record but you'd have to watch it here! Take your pick

Ros - He doesn't nap everyday but probably needs to! I find when he doesn't nap he doesn't sleep as well at night, weird logic I know & yesterday he didn't nap but was v. tired. So much has happened since June - going on hols, moving out of Twix, staying wkith my parents, moving here, starting preschool so I can understand he's had lot of change to cope with in a short space of time, and tbh he's been really good so I shouldn't complain. I suppose he hasn't really had a 'normal' week since June but things are finally starting to calm down. I have to say the days he does nap I feel so much more refreshed

Sfx - hope minisfx feels better tom. Nice to have pj day today!

Slng - I like cottage cheese and pickle sarnies! Otherwise you could use it to make cheesecake

sfxmum · 18/09/2008 21:09

slng I think it is ok if eaten straight away otherwise I think it makes it too soggy but people have different tastes

OP posts:
SJ99 · 18/09/2008 21:11

DS eats it straight out of the tub - weirdo

sfxmum · 18/09/2008 21:11

thanks all but was thinking would like to have the recordings for my private moments, have emotional attachment to both, well sort of

OP posts:
SJ99 · 18/09/2008 21:15

Well seeing as you're practically bezzie mates with Polly that makes sense

Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 21:18

sfx, can dh advise on how to get it off a TV recorder box? am sure there's something you can plug in and copy onto.

or maybe not.

i dunno, my head is full of staging servers and crypto algorithms at the mo.

implode alert

ps: cottage cheese is vile really. surely there is no one who would admit to actually liking it?

sfxmum · 18/09/2008 21:23

oh yes SJ clearly we are but I was quite pissed maybe that was it

weird that if you live long enough you end up having what amounts to several lives

OP posts:
sfxmum · 18/09/2008 21:25

paddle it must be going bonkers round your way, they tried and they tried and they got it for peanuts, hope you get your promotion

Am very for Kew - can anyone do me a mahoosive favour and text me her moby number...i simply don't have the 15 minutes needed to search for contact list on mty hotmail and really wanna talk to her to see how she is doing

'scuse typoes - Chubba throwing wobbly on lap

susiecutiebananas · 18/09/2008 21:43

Paddle- have really quick and easy recipe here for FAB biscuits. I made them on tuesday morning and they were gone by wed eve ( not just me, my friend and Izzy between them!)

Very easy crumbly jammy cookies;

Makes: 30
Prep :15mins Cook: 15-20 mins

225g Butter or marg ( soften butter a little)
100g Caster Sugar
1tsp Vanilla Extract
275g Plain Flour
1/2 Tsp baking powder
Jam

  1. pre-heat oven to 180
  2. mix butter and sugar until pale and fluffy
  3. Add vanilla and mix further
  4. FOld in flour and baking powder mix until soft dough ( might need to use hands- very therapeutic )
  5. Roll into balls -walnut size is a good size.
  6. out onto baking tray flatten with hand a little. Then poke a 'dip' into the center of each, and drop in jam

Cook for 15-20 mins until golden brown around edges.

Really really easy to make, honestly The biscuit is quite a 'short' one, you know like shortbread (a bit!). really crumbly.

Ok, so this took longer than I thought! Will catch up with all tomorrow- Izzy just woken up again

Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 22:07

thanks susie, they sound yummy.

foxie, have texted you kew's number.

MrsRecycle · 19/09/2008 08:26

morning all - hope last night brought restful nights to you all. I've been having terrible problems with ds eating - will eat a yoghurt a day and that is it - absolutely no fruit/veg in his diet whatsoever. Then I discovered humzingers and he has had his 5 a day in one morning. Loves em - now if I could get him to eat tea (he'd rather sleep so like me in that respect).

Poor Kew - I agree with her that ds needs some normality/routine at the moment. As she is at work most days, I think the CM is the better option for him.

Silly - I have a Word Document that I've saved as a short-cut and I just open it on my pc whenever I need someone's details.

Paddle - I've just discovered that you can link maps to contacts on the iphone - how brilliant is that? You must try and take it easy - especially when h has dd next weekend - have a chill time (apart from coming out with us on the Friday that is!).

Off to the caravan tonight (asssuming we get a car to drive there with!). A few dfs are joining us as well. Should be a good weekend. Oh and dh has agreed that we can start looking at houses at Rye the week we are down there [exciting] emotion!

Sushi - Kew was happy for me to bring ds so you should be ok.

mellow2 · 19/09/2008 09:36

Morning everyone.

I'm sooooo tired. I woke up at 4.30 and couldn't go back to sleep. Dd slept well though.

SJ - I find that once I've reached a critical point in my tiredness, I'm so wired that I can't sleep. I wonder if mini sj has the same problem. It's a vicious cycle and the only way to break out of it, I find, is to have short naps until the body is less tired.

mellow2 · 19/09/2008 09:39

MrsR,
Good that you found a solution to get ds eat more fruit. Not that I know what humzingers are.

I think we'll be staying close to home today.

sfxmum · 19/09/2008 09:53

good morning all

mellow humzingers are those fruit sticks dd calls fruity things am sure you have seen her eating them.

regarding tiredness for me I always need to 'unlock' what is bothering me and just sleep, I can be very bad at sleeping and it is always related to stress

mrsR pre school wanted to talk to me yesterday because dd does not eat, apparently she told them she was having dinner with me, she does not eat much bit I thought it was weird that after a small breakfast she was not even trying but then I thought it might be the terminology they use.
here lunch is the midday meal and dinner the evening meal, could that be it? she eats dinner with mummy and daddy. and she clearly is hungry as she always asks for lunch when we leave pre school

just posting ok the tube on the way up to see kew. Sfx she could be shy eating around others. We have tried everything with ds today dd2 sat him in front of tv and he ate a little bfast. I'm thinking about dropping the milk but then he may not sleep.
Talking of sleep I always use valerina which is a herbal sleep remedy available from boots when I have trouble sleeping
Will try and update you on kew later

sfxmum · 19/09/2008 10:07

children are odd little things aren't they?
she may well be shy of others no idea really

give Kew a hug was texting her this morning and she is receiving treatment keeping fingers crossed for her

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 19/09/2008 10:08

morning all, kew has had another overnight transfusion and is on high dose steroids. not sure if the results are in from the lumbar biopsy thingy but they're erring on the side of an auto-immune problem.

there are no set visiting hours and she has a private room. her ds goes every day and i will be taking dd in early afternoon today. taking dd to macdonalds after pre-school!

dd used to love humzingers but has gone off them now, i have an unopened packet here for anyone who would like them.

stress levels in the paddle house are pretty high. poor dd has had a very shouty mummy this morning. i just have too much on my mind at present. the sleepover tomorrow is really bugging me but it was arranged weeks and weeks ago and they are very very dear friends. i know it will do me good as they entertain dd and we have lovely conversations about existentialism and spiritualism. they are very zen/bhuddist and so calm! think i need a bit of that!

MrsR, will see how next week pans out eh!!!
Have a fab time at the caravan and hope ds improves his appetite if only for you peace of mind. he's a fantastic little chap and clearly not wasting away LOL.

sfx, it is very interesting how kids perceptions go. it's quite possible that the terminology isn't working for dd thus her refusing to eat if she thinks it dinner not lunch. i've had pre-school talk to me about dd's refusal to eat fruit, she tells them she doesn't like it . we're back on track with that now tho.

right, i have shit loads to do and have to leave in 2 hours. must stop procrastinating and chatting to you lot, trouble is it's more fun than work!

Paddlechick666 · 19/09/2008 10:12

I think MrsR means Valerian, those iphone keypads are tricky LOL.

TV used to be the way to get dd to eat but now she is too distracted by it so I think breakfast TV is going to have to stop. We have been late every day this week!

Say hi to Kew, she knows I'll be in later.

sfxmum · 19/09/2008 10:14

Kew did say the pre lim results were in last night and they were 90% sure of cause so pursuing aggressive treatment.

keeping fingers firmly crossed
