hello bla bla bla

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 18/09/2008 14:30

oh no Sushi - that's awful to hear. I think she has plenty of visitors today sfx - her brother was coming to see her.

SJ99 · 18/09/2008 14:31

Oh no, poor KC Please send her my best wishes when you go Sushi/Paddle

I am carless today (DH decided to take car after crap sleep as he too tired to cycle) and have family relatives visiting tomorrow, I can go and see her on Sun though or help with Gherkin if need be

rosmerta · 18/09/2008 14:35

Poor Kew, anyone who's going to see her please pass on my love. Also, I'll be around to help after Monday next week if needed

Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 14:36

i think she's had the biopsy now, doesn't sound too much fun. poor kew.

i am supposed to be visiting friends overnight on saturday so not around.

btw, sj, that means i can't do the parent paddle thing. am quite cross that i managed to double book! thought 21st was saturday to begin with.

i emailed the guy organising but haven't heard back from him. will let you know details when i do, assuming DH still interested?

SJ99 · 18/09/2008 14:38

Oh no, that's too bad Paddle. I guess DH will still go although I think he was looking forward to going with you! He said he knows where the club is, will tell him you can't make it

sfxmum · 18/09/2008 14:42

am around Sunday and Monday too have told kew that and dh will want to help to at weekend. but not around Tuesday and Wednesday

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 15:08

sj, i am gutted too. in theory i could cut and run early and get to the club but it would be supremely rude to my friends, i s'spose.

tbh, i'm having a "close to home" episode and am not actually looking forward to teh sleepover even tho my friends are lovely.

dd is becoming less easy going about being away from home. she loves it but it's taking her time to re-settle at home. it's been tough getting her into bed this week as she doesn't want to go to sleep and she wants to sleep with me after our weekend away.

so this weekend we will be away again and next weekend is an H access weekend so any semblence of routine is blown.

Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 15:23

from BBC website:

Mother claims abandoned baby girl
The mother of an abandoned baby girl has come forward.

The newborn infant, thought to be a day old, was found in a trolley at West Middlesex Hospital in Isleworth, west London, on Tuesday night.

The mother came forward overnight after police issued a CCTV image of a woman who was thought to have left the baby.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said both mother and child are doing well. The girl had been named Jane by nurses looking after her.

Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 18:50

just call me a threadkiller then

spoke to kew earlier, she is being stoic and cheerful as ever but it looks increasingly unlikely she will be out for the weekend.

calling all you bakers out there, i need a recipe for cookies (or something!) that dd and i can make easily and quickly to take as a gift to our friends on saturday.

we won't have much time to bake them as i'm planning on taking dd to a dance class first thing saturday morning too.

i have looked in my kids cook books but they're all so "involved" and require so much stuff.

I have flour, sugar, eggs, pecans, chocolate chips, vanilla, maple syrup, honey etc etc.

i don't have an electric mixer, cookie cutters or greaseproof paper.

HELP!

or should i just cut the grief and go to M&S?

mellow2 · 18/09/2008 19:16

Paddle - sorry, no cookie recipe. I'm sure COV and sfx will be along with some good recipes.

Oh dear re Kew. Are children allowed on her ward? I'd like to go and see her tomorrow but I'll have to take dd with me. I can also look after gherkin on Mon and Thu am.

SJ - Sorry to hear about the sleepless nite. I'm absolutely knackered at the moment, what with dd's new routine and an exhausting time away.

Sfx - Thanks for asking. Dd is doing well. I've been told I can leave her for the full session next Tue. Would have loved to come round tomorrow pm but I'm absolutely knackered by 1pm.

Sausage - It was nice to meet up briefly earlier this week.

SJ99 · 18/09/2008 19:24

Paddle - I often make these raison adn oactmeal cookies. I excl the sunflower seeds as not sure if DS would be allergic and they still taste yum so don't worry if you don't have any seeds. Really easy and just grease a nonstick tray if you have no greaseproof paper

75g (3 oz) butter
85g (3 1/2 oz) caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
75g (3 oz) raisins
50g ( 2 oz) sunflower seeds
50g (2 oz) plain flour
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1/2 tsp salt
40g (1 1/2 oz) porridge oats

Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in rest of ingredients until completely combined. Shape into small balls, put on tray and flatten slightly. 180C for 12 to 14 minutes until golden. Cool on a wire rack.

SJ99 · 18/09/2008 19:35

Mellow - I think that is what caused DS to wake continuously all the excitement of the house move and the preschool is starting to catch up with him. He is quite overtired most days but also naps big time on other days. It will take a while before his 'new routine' settles. Great your DD is doing so well
Paddle - I can see that it's hard settling DD after being away, they are so much more sensitive and aware of changes aren't they?

Sfx - I don't think I got round to posting but just wanted to say thanks again for the BP book, DS loves it and often requests his 'bunnies book' at bedtime. Today he revealed to daddy over dinner that MiniSfx was his best friend (not fickle at all then )

sfxmum · 18/09/2008 19:48

paddle sorry not around at urgent request but have recipe very similar to SJ's which looks yum

susie nice to see you must get those swimming meets up and running regularly especially as the dreaded season approaches

mellow sounds good but they do take ages to adapt to new routines, am never too keen on hour change either

SJ bless him I like the language in the books too.

dd has been a bit poorly today and wa sick after susie&dd left but managed to eat some dinner

dh is doing bedtime bless him am knackered hope she sleeps more than last night

OP posts:
mellow2 · 18/09/2008 19:57

sfx - I hope mini sfx feels better soon. I'm waiting for dd to bring home colds from pre-school.

sfxmum · 18/09/2008 20:05

thanks mellow am sure she will and it is nothing serious but have a feeling tomorrow might be pyjama day

and SJ you welcome of course I like people who like books

OP posts:
stepfordwife · 18/09/2008 20:10

hi all
hope you're all diddling well
poor kew..on top of all the worry, she's bloody bored to tears. isn't she?
bummer as i've got to steer well clear with my stinking cold and germs.

paddle...always, always, always cut to the chase and buy m & S, dear girl.

sfx, swimming? running? stop it, do. you're making me feel tired

well, dd didn't cry when i left her for an hour at nursery today. i was relieved. so they said she can stay for fiull sessions next week, then start her 3 "full" days (school hours) the week after that, all going well.
feel the usual about it, then think;'What will i do with my freedom?"
then i remember the answer oh, yeah, work

stepfordwife · 18/09/2008 20:14

..but fridays i'll pick her up at 11.30am, so that'll be my best day for meet-ups..

oh god sfx, now look what you've done..i want a pyjama day

and paddle, i watched the family (in between dozing off). love things like that. do you remember the wilkins family one from the 70s?

the mum and daughters looked identical, didn't they? the mum was a bit odd, eh?

Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 20:16

ooh thanks for the recipe, i don't have raisins but i do have almonds and chocolate chips. maybe would still work? sounds so easy.

sfx, sorry dd is poorly. d'you think a bug or over-tired?

i am whacked out at present. not enough time in the day to do everything. emergency conference call whilst dd was in the bath this evening FFS!

realised why we were so short on socks, found them all in teh machine after i put them back in to tumble on monday then forgot. they stink now

my head is just too full up with things.

mellow, kids are allowed to visit as kew has a private room. her ds is there most days. apparently whilst he is doing okay, he is also quite unsettled and restless so kew's not sure he would cope well with more change in routine.

sushi, she'll speak to you tomorrow about gymboree. kew thinks he will go back to CM next week for mornings at least.

right, off to do some more work and eat something. neighbours appear to be having a movie night so i get surround sound musical soundtrack and running commentary from neighbour.

maybe i should pass a questionnaire out for next property and discover who is deaf. and, conundrum, how come if she's so bloody deaf she has issues with dd's footsteps?

arg!

Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 20:19

steppie, no i never watched the 70s one. i really enjoyed it last night but mulling things over this morning i got quite cross with the mother.

okay the 19yr old was toxic but the mother was a right old misery. seemed like the father did everything all she did was slum around in her dressing gown bitching at the father about the daughter. then when the father took the initiative to discipline the daughter she called him off. seriously, she's passive aggressive and so is the daughter!

right, must do some work!

slng · 18/09/2008 20:42

I'm so tired. Should sit, eat and watch tv. Rushed to work, rushed back, rushed to DS1's best friend's house, rushed back, put them to bed, did the washing up. Doesn't sound much but I am exhausted ... Cooked dinner but don't feel like eating it now.

Does anyone know what to do with cottage cheese?

Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 20:45

yeh, put it in the bin!

sfxmum · 18/09/2008 20:48

this is an odd and last minute request but would any of you have dvd recorder thingy which can be set to record something which is on very late tonight? does that make any sense?
happy to pay for dvd's used etc

long shot thanks

OP posts:
sfxmum · 18/09/2008 20:49

LOl paddle I like it on very dark rye / pumpernickel bread

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 18/09/2008 20:49

erm, i've got a TV recorder box but you'd have to come here to watch it. which is fine by me.

happy to record whatever it is, just let me know

rosmerta · 18/09/2008 20:49

evening all,

sj, hope you get a better night tonight! Have you thought about limiting ds's naps each day? I found if ds has 2hrs then it really messes him up evenings/following days so 1.5hr is enough. Maybe it will help get minisj back into a routine?

sfx, hope dd is better tomorrow.

Mellow/steppie, glad your dd's seem to be settling in well!
